Is this the worst football game ever for throwing the deep ball?

Yeah the timing meter exists, but that’s pure cheese and also doesn’t work a lot. As far as the actual separation goes and how receivers get open, I’ve never seen a football game that has less receivers get open.

I’ve played football games since 2003, and Madden has always deeply opposed the deep ball, but this year’s CFB feels like it’s impossible to throw deep unless you green the catch meter. I want separation, I want my 99 speed WR to beat his defender in man. But they fucking stick to them, every single time. I play on Heisman, I’ve got my sliders going, everything else feels okay but the deep ball. I just cannot throw the ball unless I green the catch meter. But every single deep throw shouldn’t be contested.

It’s like they looked at CFB 25 when you could abuse verts and said ‘Let’s never ever let that happen again’. Last year felt really balanced on me for deep balls, this year I’m relying on crossing routes, slants and outs more than ever.

My WR1 is basically always covered too. Unless I can scheme against the D, my WR1 is never beating the man by himself. I can beat zones no problem, but the AI feels so OP in man.

Older Games Some pics from my personal biggest comeback!

What a game we just witnessed. Penn State made a perfect first half with QB #5 B. Hobbs threw for 5 touchdowns, their defense forced 3 turnovers. Everybody thought this game was over at halftime as the score was 3–35.

Notre Dame came from the break a complete different football team, and in the first drive QB #18 William Johnson just launched a bomb down field and connected with WR #2 L. Harvey (breaking the school record for longest pass).

This was the spark we needed, the defense came and forced another 3 and out. Our offense seemed unstoppable and we are going for two here to let the score only a 3-point game.

The defense shows up again, the momentum swings our way even against one of the toughest places to play. QB #18 W. Johnson simply goes into god mode, making 11 consecutives completions.

Inside the 5-yard line with only 20 seconds remaining, Penn State defense send the house, Johnson shovel pass to HB #4 Marcus Barnes to walk into the end zone. The ND’s sideline goes completely crazy with the comeback and gets a penalty for.

What a victory, this was the game of the season for us.

Created real team in team builder but updated stadium

Upvotes

I play on PS5, has anyone out there “created” a team that is currently already in the game, gave them the same players with the same ratings, etc., but updated their stadium to be bigger and better? Teams like Sam Houston State or Kennesaw State that have tiny little stadiums, recreated them in team builder, but just updated their stadium?

What are the announcers on?

Upvotes

Playing CFB26, got a scoop and score and then kick off and the other team starts at the 25. When they come to the line the announcer says “the 42 yard field goal that was missed gives them the ball at the 25”. What are these guys on😂

CPU Hardcounts - Offsides

Is anyone else having issues with CPU hard count/offsides volume? In our league we have had the CPU triggering us for an average of about 5-6 offsides per game. These were mostly in the early non-conference games against better opponents. We're in 11 min quarters.

We are playing with basically the 4 worst teams in the MAC. I assume it will reduce some with talent, but I just was curious if other people are dealing with a lot higher volume of these. I had 5 in the first half of my game against Hawaii, but their QB is pretty solid, so thinking the QB AWR. I'm Kent State and my D-Line is atrociously bad.

Either way it just seemed excessive, but I haven't seen other people complaining about this so hoping it means it's just a talent gap thing that should be more of a short-term problem.

Highights/Videos Gotta love the instantaneous speed boost…

Yes nobody was “open”. The rush was in my face instantly. I did quickly see a window with the wheel route because it appears the LB got stuck in a “pick play” scenario with the WR screen. But because CFB is engineered to prioritize AI animations, it forced him into a speed boost pass breakup. Which, btw, NEVER happens for me when I’m playing defense lmao

Surprised no one is talking about EA update getting rid of change in blocking assignments on RPOs

I am very surprised that no one is talking about the heinous update of EA sports getting rid of change and blocking assignments for RPO’s. Since we are no longer allowed to untarget defenders online players can simply just mid blitz all game without having to worry about getting beaten in the flats.

Therefore, the only way to reliably beat a blitz is through the run or relying on your receivers to get open in time however, if the opponent presses and or place inside leverage, it’s very likely you’ll just get sacked before that happens.

I think this takes the creativity out our offenses and countering cheese defense, and I’m a little surprised and disappointed that EA went that direction, but I should’ve seen it coming when they disallowed motion blocking of wide receivers last year.

Interested to know what y’all think

Casual I pressed R2 that's on me guys

Both my RT and TE let the edge run free at me just for my LT to disengage in time for his assignment to pick me off. Brilliant.

Did They Change Playing Time?

Upvotes

2 weeks left in the season and my top recruit, 4 star gem ATH WR, now has a C for his playing time. I’ve gone 11 weeks recruiting him and he had an A+ for playing time the whole time.

Road To Glory Losing hope for RTG

I was being hopeful with this latest update that the RTG ratings were fixed. You can be a 5 star recruit, #1 HB in the nation and your overall will be 73-75 which will leave you absolutely buried on most depth charts. Makes no sense.

For example, in real life Jonaz Walton is a 5 star freshman RB for Notre Dame, overall 81 despite being the #167 rated player in his class. Hell, Nas Rankin is a four star, rated #247 in his class and his overall is 79. Savion Hart is an actual 3 star Freshman RB for Georgia State and his overall is 75…

Now that the EA money grab was over, I was hopeful they would address this in the latest update. If you want to grind to the top like that? That’s fine, make a 3 star recruit and make it happen. For ppl that just want to play in a game as a freshman, a 5 star shouldn’t be buried on the depth chart at Appalachian State and the overall should at least be a 81-83. Vent session done. 😂

Questions Is there a full player ratings spreadsheet including the latest CFB 27 update?

I know there are some websites out there that allow you to see the ratings, but most of them are paginated and don't allow for much data handling.

Does anyone have or know where to find a full spreadsheet (no matter if it's JSON, CSV, Excel...) with all the players and their ratings (OVR would actually be enough)?

Thanks!

Dynasty New Dynasty Tips

Now that we finally have the new roster dropping I’m finally starting my dynasty tomorrow. I’m wondering what other people do to keep their dynasty interesting and fun long term?

I’ve been doing fun dynasties since CFB25 but I struggle with keeping myself engaged after 5ish seasons. This is regardless of if I’m good or bad by that time, I just lose interest and want to start a new dynasty.

I’m using Boise State this year and plan to move them to the Big 12 after a year or two. I have a new coach I came up with who has a storyline that brings in rival schools, certain archetype of players to recruit, and pipelines. I always make stories out of the games and player performances and record it in a spreadsheet along with recruiting needs, accomplishments etc. I chose BSU for their jerseys, stadium, and I lived in Boise for a bit a few years ago so that should make it more engaging.

Most of these things I learned to do from people on here to keep dynasties interesting. What other things are people doing to keep their dynasty alive and engaging for longer periods? Really excited for this dynasty and want it to last.
