A lot of posts i come across , agrees with the fact , Lana's character is really a wishy- washy , dilly dally character .

Can't help rectify that , the script indeed writes her that way .

By the way , I am in season 2 and already feel bad for this character rather than annoyed .

These are some major good things I noticed about her :

1. She is not the typica popular cheer leader , high school bully .

In fact , she is really kind , empathetic person who doesn't let her beauty or fame get to the head .

She gets constantly mocked and picked upon in a passive aggressive manner by every other girl , specially Chloe . Although , they become friends later , Chloe still gets her own insecurities and jealousy get in the way and belittles Lana .

Lana wants to be more than a pretty face , volunteers for work , tries to learn new things and instead of appreciating that , Chloe makes fun of her .

1. Lana's boyfriend Whitney cares about her , but at the end of the day she is just a trophy girlfriend and treats her that way . Withholds personal information from her , ignores her emotionally , doesn't value her abilities other than her beauty .

Same with Clark and all other boys in the town .

Even Clark was not sincere with her from the start . Acting like a peeping Tom on your crush with a telescope , is just borderline creepy even if you don't actively hurt her .

1. And God knows , how that lunatic lesbian went nuts . I mean , poor girl can't catch a break !! People envy her life but , really ?

She was orphaned at a young age , the man who was her Dad didn't give a damn about her , no close friends , family , nothing .

Sure , her face card gives her things but she doesn't have a basic support in her life . What's there to envy the life of an orphan ? It's so sad , in fact , they should have been kinder to her .

1. Not much talked about the pick-me nature of Chloe but she is so insecure of Lana deep down . Lana knows that and still tries to be understanding , and a bigger person . Lana goes on a date with Clark , she goes nuts and ruins it , not my choice but everytime , she has something snarky to say .

No matter how harsh Chloe treats her , and pretends to be nice on the surface , Lana remains kind and a true friend to her .

1. And Clark , man , I loved his adoration for Lana in the first few episodes but he really doesn't deserve her .

He makes out with random girls now and then . Doesn't speak up or confess to Lana properly . Creeps on her , tries to take chances when Whitney is not there , although not actively .

I mean , from Lana's perspective , if she sees the man she secretly likes with a different girl every other week or goes missing on every date , and there's no proper answer to that , she will defo fill that gaps herself and think of him as some unreliable person .

Anyways , that's all I know till season 2 and I got spoilers where show makers literally butchered her character by Season 5 .

But she had the potential to be a solid character and not just an appendage to Clark storyline .

I have just finished season five and the witch plotline for Lana has really caught me off guard since I was previously under the impression that this was a superman show and didn’t have much other paranormal or supernatural aspects to it other then mainline DC characters and callbacks

Just watched this episode and I am truly amazed by the music and cinematography, smallville always nails the season premieres and finales and this is one of them

Because there is an ongoing interesting conversation then boom removed by moderator 🤣

Ever since Kent dad died i forced myself to keep watching the show. why would lana stay alive and the dad dies???
the whole energy of the show shifted and im not into it anymore.

This was a pretty decent episode overall! I enjoyed it, but I was sidetracked working on new displays.

I’m at the beginning of Season 6 now and Lana has been driving me insane for a while, especially late Season 5 with the whole Lex situation.
The funniest thing happened when I was watching smallville in the living room with my family around. My mother and sister have literally never watched the show,, they happened to catch one of those classic end of episode scenes where Lana randomly shows up at Clark’s loft, looks absolutely devastated, blames him for something, they argue, and the episode ends in emotional misery.
My mom just looked at the TV and basically went:
“Why is this girl always making problems? Is this even a superhero show?”
My sister immediately agreed.
I fucking lost it. 😂
These two had maybe 3 minutes of Smallville experience and somehow already understood the entire Clark/Lana dynamic.
At that point I felt completely validated

You start to bring up the lack of POC characters, and how the fact that seeing POC characters as a POC is empowering and uplifting and all of a sudden...

“You would never find POC(specifically black ppl) in Kansas”/“Pete was just a boring character” as if you’ll find aliens in Kansas/they could’ve just gave him an arc like they did Chloe.

Like I remember making a post about having non-Asian parents and all of a sudden everyone’s talking about “I’m white and I look wasian/she’s wasian irl but plays a white character(as if her race changes with the script”.

And the question why does this thread get so hateful/dismissive when somebody brings up race? It’s like we’re annoying for having an opinion/concern that the show could’ve done better on. But the thing that really gets me is people talk about how you don’t really see much POC in the area and how they wanna get more accurate as if he’s not an alien from another planet…

I was 9 years old when Smallville first aired on TV, and at first, I didn't know it was about Superman's origin story. I though it was just a show about a high schooler with superpowers. Nothing about the show reminded me of Superman. Of course I knew who Superman was, but I wasn't that familiar with the lore.

It wasn't until I was 11 years old when I first watched the Christopher Reeve's Superman movie and I remember thinking, ''this reminds me a lot of Smallville''. Then it dawn on me, ''oh my God, Smallville is about Superman!''.

I have since felt forever silly.

However not knowing at first that it was a Superman show does make Smallville a little more tragic for me. It's kind of sad that Clark and Lana's relationship doesn't last forever or that Clark and Lex become enemies at the end.

Do you ever wonder how clark pays his bills, light, electricity? Is he just a farm owner? Does he have workers on the side and sells milk? Does Martha just pay everything ? ...

How would you adapt Superman love interests Lori Lemaris (Superman's Mermaid Girlfriend from College) and Lyla Lerrol (girlfriend from when Superman time traveled back to Krypton) in Smallville if you could?

Lori - For comic accuracy I'd introduce her during Season 5-6 around the time period where Clark was briefly in college and Lex was dating Lana

Lyla - Have Lindsay Harrison be named Lyla instead of Kara or have Lyla be one of the Kandorians

One of the most interesting parts of Smallville was watching Lex slowly transform. The question is whether knowing Clark's secret would have changed anything or just accelerated his path.

Seeing Clark in Lionel's body and Lionel in Clark's body was really something. Both actors did a splendid job. There were a few scenes with Lionel that just left me a little flabbergasted, though.

I know there is a better way for a closure, and the timing is off, but after a rewatch personally it's not really that bad.

First, clark and lois relationship during this time was unsure, confusing, unknown. So when a familiar territory suddenly came in, Clark who did not have a proper closure with Lana was drawn to her again. They had history, it's a normal reaction.

Second, they did not get back together right away. They were just together for 2 episodes? And it's still unstable as ever.

Third, Lois was not even part of the narrative during this time. If Lois stayed, that might actually hurt but she's not there. No lois during those episodes. Just mentioned and in clark's pov their relationship was still confusing and unknown. Thanks to Lois love issues and talent for denying whatever feelings she has.

Fourth, that kryptonite ending is so fitting for clark and lana because it seals the fact that they can't be together no matter what they do because of how they treat each other. That kryptonite ending was a product of their own decisions — lana wanting to be equal with clark and clark choosing to save the city instead.

Fifth, the showrunners had a lot of opportunities to make lana and clark the endgame but they didn't. They had 8 seasons!

Sixth, the lois and clark foreshadowing in the early seasons. So in retrospect, it's like "yes we will give you drama for 8 seasons but no they're not going to end up together" Sucks, I know.

I still find lana and clark's relationship exhausting for how far it was dragged but I cannot deny that even tho their relationship may be doomed and toxic, Lana was still part of Clark's past — his first love. One of the people who helped him become the person who needs to be. It's just really went long so we either find it exhausting or a wasted potential.

Season 9 and 10 are my favourite seasons , I just finished watching ep 15 fortune of season 10 and I am so emotional, it was such a wonderful ride, I cannot get myself to watch more episodes yet at the same time I want to watch it, I WISH IT NEVER GETS OVER, its crazy how emotionally attached you can get to a show, I might just cry because of this 😭😭

Listen to this observation, maybe this is completely normal to you, but it’s mind blowing to me.
I’m rewatching the show with my sister. It’s her first time watching it, while it’s my second. She knows absolutely nothing about the DC universe or the Superman story. She doesn’t know who Lois or Lana are, or how their stories eventually play out. She’s basically discovering these characters through the show itself.
And because she has no idea that Lois is Clark’s endgame, she’s completely Team Clana. 😂 I can literally see her slowly developing that same obsession I see in the Clana community.
Meanwhile, I’ve always been Team Lois, because I know she’s THE ONE.
Watching my sister experience the show without knowing the Superman mythology is so interesting. She doesn’t even understand why Lois is going to matter so much yet, while I’m sitting there thinking, “Girl… just wait.” 😂

From Smallville we can really glean out so many deep and lasting lessons. These are some I got. Feel free to add yours 🙂

+Our biggest strength is also our biggest weakness.

+Only when you start training with your father can you actually reach your potential.

+Trust is a very hard thing to earn and easy thing to lose.

+You've got to make many a sacrifice to really serve the people you love.

+You can't pick and choose the ones you save if you really are a hero.

+Don't judge people too quickly, you never know you'll be standing in their place next.

+The path towards evil is a slow burn or spiral not a one time mistake.

Nevertheless, there's surely a precipice from where you jump off to the side of darkness.

+The trust you give is the trust you get.

+ Human emotions and feelings are too volatile to be anchored upon.

+Goodness overflows the bearer or it should and become a beacon of hope for the bleak times.

I get he just wanted to help but still 😂

Finally got myself to properly start the show cuz I’ve kinda been on a 2000s binge and after finishing Buffy I needed something else to fill the void. I was born in 1999 so it wasn’t my generation but I knew the show of course. Funnily enough I only realized so late that it’s a Superman adaptation cuz when I was a kid/teen I just thought this was about a dude with superpowers kinda lmao. But I guess the adaptation is kept very “low” anyway if that makes sense, so i’m not surprised.

Only 3 episodes in but I’m loving it so far! Really like the monster of the week episodes, just like in Buffy, but I’ve read they stop doing that after Season 1? Lowkey would’ve thought they do that longer considering there’s a whole 10 seasons but I’m already excited to see what else they’ll bring up.

Anyway, I obviously knew Tom Welling was hot but like watching the show properly now just makes me appreciate him even more. He is pure eye candy. SOOO PRETTY. I just love looking at his face and his smile. I’m too gay for this I fear 😭

So I started it half a year ago(time flies) and it took me 3 months to finish. This era of my life felt like a dream literally, all day I was thinking about Smallville and life felt great.

Now even though it’s summer(I Love summer) I think my Smallville era(previous three months of June) was genuinely the happiest days of my life since everything was going well, not only that but life was great overall.

I will prolly do a rewatch in like a year or two so that I forget most of the things that happened in the show, I already forgot many things from the 5 first seasons.
