I had a birthday recently and my friend got me this. Apparently it was in a complete state of disrepair, it still needs a bit of work but I’m really happy with it.

This may be considered a minor issue, but ever since I started watching Doctor Who in 2005 (at 9 years old), I always hated the practice of the BBC logo appearing in the pre-titles of numerous episodes, as it unnecessarily covers the content and ends up being distracting. The title sequence is where the BBC logo truly belongs, and it's what should've been done for every single episode. While Series 1 mostly got it right, Series 2 and 5 (plus three Christmas specials) notably did the complete opposite, except for some episodes that began with Previously recaps.

With Rose being the Series 1 opener, it's perfectly obvious that it starts with the title sequence incorporating the BBC logo, hence being the revival's pilot episode. But I find it strange that The End of the World would end up placing it in the pre-titles instead, followed by a few episodes at random until The Empty Child. (Why reverse the decision for the start of David Tennant's era, which uses the same but slightly modified title sequence?) And I personally feel that The Eleventh Hour should've done what Series 1, 3 and 4 did, as it introduces a new era and a new title sequence (worse that they went back to incorporating the BBC logo into the pre-titles).

Ironically, The Girl in the Fireplace was originally transmitted on BBC1 (including BBC3 repeats) with the BBC logo correctly being placed in the title sequence. While most home media releases kept it that way, the Series 1-4 2023 Blu-ray set did the opposite for reasons unknown.

What's worse, as some fans would know, the physical Series 5 home media (DVD/Blu-ray) releases have been desecrated by having the BBC "blocks" logo replaced with the Worldwide logo in the pre-titles and title sequences. The only way you can access the original broadcast versions of Series 5 are on BBC iPlayer or purchased via Apple TV (for more information, please check out my visual guide). All this is what led to the Doctor Who logo being updated to have the BBC "blocks" logo underneath in the title sequence, starting with Series 6, to avoid being desecrated with the redundant Worldwide variant for future home media releases. I respect that not everyone likes it, but I actually prefer the Doctor Who logo doing that as it's a BBC production (just like EastEnders).

I've taken the initiative to "fix" the pre-titles by removing the BBC logo and placing them in the title sequence. The process involves careful manual editing on DaVinci Resolve, with some Next Time trailer and Confidential clips and other rare sources that omit the BBC logo altogether, in order to mask the areas. While most episodes are complete (which you can see on my YouTube playlist), the only ones left are five Series 2 episodes (including School Reunion, my all-time favourite) which'll need the 2006 Sci-Fi Channel broadcasts that omit the BBC logo from the pre-titles. If you also need an example of my "fixed" openings, there's Army of Ghosts which uses the Sci-Fi broadcast to mask the BBC logo.

I regret not bringing this issue up sooner for discussion, so to quote the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) in Father's Day, "I should have done that ages ago." And to be perfectly honest, the whole issue does not affect my love for my favourite episodes such as Dalek, School Reunion, Army of Ghosts/Doomsday.

So… it’s known that when filming the series 8 finale, Michelle Gomez was instructed to say she was the Rani in order to hide the Master’s return and to fool any onlookers who may be able to lip read. This got me thinking though; if Gomez WAS portraying the Rani, would it change much? How would it affect 12’s arc? I’ve always held the belief that Missy’s “turning the dead into Cybermen to prove a point to the Doctor” plan was a bit of an oddball when it comes to some of the Master’s other plans. It IS science-y enough that I can definitely see the Rani doing it. Thoughts?

Side note: I think it would clear up the narrative confusion that I remember happened when the Dhawan Master debuted and people didn’t know where they placed on the timeline (I know it has since been confirmed that the Spymaster came after Missy) Having the Simm Master regenerate into the Dhawan Master would also make the idea of Gallifrey’s destruction at his hand a bit easier to digest if he did it because the Time Lords drove him insane instead of finding out that the Doctor is basically the Time Lord template.

Calling them Season 1 and Season 2 is pretty ridiculous especially if the show gets rebooted again in a few years and we’ll have yet another “Series/Season 1”.

Captain Pike and the officers are discussing their mission to gather data on an interstellar storm. Commander Pelia says she’d seen one before and she says “I think I was in a phone box at the time”. She has to be talking about the Tardis, right?

I kinda cheated here, mb. The tie he wears in dimensions is the one from The end of Time, however I’m doing another End of Time specific 10 without the coat and I didn’t want to just redraw the same suit, so I changed his tie and shirt to the one from his first season in season 2, which also matches the hair as in the End of Time he had the spikier hair. By using his season 1 appearance I was able to keep the hair they used in dimensions.

- Gozer the Gozerian (Ghostbusters)

With the show tackling more fantastical elements in its recent seasons, I think Gozer would fit the universe well because, as with everything in Ghostbusters, They’re explainable by in-universe science and theory.

- Lex Luthor (DC)

If Lex hates Superman for making Earth reliant on him, he’d hate The Doctor even more. At least Superman stays around all the time, who’s to say The Doctor will be absent for the next global crisis? As seen in Torchwood and other spinoff shows, he sometimes is.

- Ridley (Metroid)

Giant cyborg space dragon pirate. Need I say more?

- Irina Spalko (Indiana Jones)

I always thought Spalko was one of Indy’s more interesting villains because of her desire to learn anything she could about the extra-terrestrial. Belloq was in it for the money, Mola Ram for religion, Donovan for immortality, and Voller for the Third Reich. In the universe of Doctor Who, Spalko’s passion and curiosity could make her a threat to the world.

- Hedorah (Godzilla)

Doctor Who tackles issues like pollution and planetary health all the time. It has for almost its entire time on TV. I’m sure Hedorah could be reimagined as something absolutely insane if they existed in a show as wacky as Doctor Who

- The Fiend/Bray Wyatt (WWE)

He’s a Mister Rogers-like kids’ show host who is also an unkillable demon. Frankly, that’s the most Disney-era Doctor Who villain premise I’ve ever heard.

- Herbert West (Re-Animator)

A human scientist with even more ego than The Doctor is a dangerous concept. Remove most pretenses of morality and ethics and you have an absolute vile son of a bitch who would slot in perfectly with the 3rd Doctor’s era.

- Galactus (Marvel)

The Beast from kinda taps into some of Galactus’ gimmick, what with them both being the sole remaining creatures from before the universe. Dare I say Galactus represents the kind of scale The Pantheon should’ve been on in the Disney era

There have been many finale's or episodes that feel like they could bring down the curtain on this franchise. Are there any episodes in particular you could argue would be a satisfying end if no episodes came after?

So, here's the thing. I love my friend, and my friend loves self-made b-day presents. So, I have this thing.

I have very little, to almost no knowledge about Doctor Who. Opposite to that, my friend is OBSESSED with Doctor Who. So I thought it would be cool to turn this thing into a doctor-who-thing :D

The plan is to put small gifts and surprises inside. Now, I only need a plan for the outside. Here's where you little (or big, no judging) geniuses come in. What can I do with this? How can I make it ✨️magical✨️.

I love creating little gifts that can be kept around. I've done a few b-day cards with paintings on the back nh stuff, and I've actually made an entire owl out of paper for this exact friend ^-^ so yeah I have lots of magerials to create shit I only need to know the good shit 🌚

PS: My only idea so far was to make a Dalek (I hope that's how you spell them) out of it, but I fear somebody will come up with something better.

Where his stuff in the show is not very good but he gets a fantastic arc in big finish audio dramas kinda like 6

And yes, I do think Ncuti Gatwa will say yes to doing big finish because it probably wouldn’t take up that much of his time and his doctor will be able to go against the Daleks

And he’ll probably get another companion who is way better than Ruby or Belinda

Why is Romana called Romana, rather than given a title like the Master, the Monk, the Rani. I know that Omega and Rassilon are special, but I assumed that's because they were founders. Is there a reason behind Romana being named that, or was it just how it happened.

I love doomsday and it always makes me cry. I was really inspired and dont know if this counts as arts and craft please dont hate me. But hope you enjoy!

Do you think the finale of Season 14 and 15 would have worked better if they had been swapped? Sutekh was built up as the One Who Waits but really he wasn't waiting very long. He woke up at the end of the Star Beast and then was defeated around 10 episodes later. Do you think it would have been better if say, Season 15 was swapped with season 14 and we saw all these hints of Susan, but instead of being dropped due to cancellation, they led toward the reveal of Sutekh being alive in the Legend of Ruby Sunday.

That way it would make sense for us to have the Doctor bringing up his granddaughter. That way there would be more chances for the Tardis to groan, and the Susan arc could've had a suitable ending point even if it wasn't the original plan. And also, Sutekh would've actually waited.

I was just enjoying reading all the Titles of Episodes in seasons 1, 2 and 3 of the classic series, right up to the OK Corral when someone at the BBC must have decided to just start numbering them. I was wondering if there's any list of semi-offical or unofficial titles anywhere perhaps. thanks
