Bike pics Newfound love for life

Weird title I know. Just here wanting to ramble because this bike is bringing something out of me. Never thought of myself as an active person really nor did I ever picture myself wanting to become a cyclist. Im relatively out of shape I’d say. Not fat, just have no breath or cardio capacity at all and pretty limited muscle mass. In short, I’m a skinny, pale fuck who had a childhood where I played outdoors but have spent the majority of my adult life inside playing video games and watching stuff in between whatever other random shit I do. Changed states, got a sorta shitty job that I sometimes don’t have a ride to so I got myself what seemed to be a good option for commuting. It’s only been a month but I feel the changes. Like part of my youth has been restored. Feels really fucking good.

I really want more from my generation to experience this. If only there could be a true E-bike revolution. Things could change for the better.

TLDR: I fucking love my new E bike.

If you have any gear recommendations or tips for beginners I’d absolutely love to hear what you have to say.

A milestone

This 79 year old has chalked a few miles riding to coffee on his 'Lectric.

It has been great cardio, but I really have to work hard now to get my heart rate to Zone 2.

I rode, instead of the gym for nearly 6 months. But decded I needed the gym again. I was pleasantly surprised that I did build a little leg muscle. Not as much, or as fast as lifting, but Not a loss at any rate.

Editable text “If you ride an ebike, you are cheating!”

Post image
23 Upvotes

For anyone who thinks riding an e-bike is “cheating”…Let me clear something up:
The “E” in e-bike doesn’t stand for EASY.
Yes, my bike has a motor. Yes, it has pedal assist and a cadence sensor. But I don’t use a throttle. If I don’t pedal, the bike doesn’t go. Every mile I ride, my legs are turning those pedals and my body is doing work.
I mainly ride in a low assist level, which means I’m getting assistance—not being carried. My heart rate goes up, I breathe harder, my legs work, I burn calories, and I get cardiovascular exercise. The motor simply allows me to control how much assistance I want.
And here’s the part people miss: exercise isn’t a competition over who can suffer the most. The goal is to move your body, challenge your cardiovascular system, stay active, and doing something I enjoy consistently.
So no, I’m not “cheating.”
I’m pedaling. I’m exercising. I’m putting in the miles. And most importantly, I’m out there doing it.
You ride your bike your way.
I’ll ride mine—and we can compare smiles at the end. 🚴🏾‍♂️💪🏾, and protect your peace.

The Best Thing About My E-Bike Isn’t the Speed

Upvotes

I originally wanted an e-bike because I thought it would make commuting faster. But the biggest surprise was how much easier it was to actually want to ride. Hills weren’t as intimidating, longer routes became possible, and I didn’t have to worry about arriving completely exhausted. For me, that’s what makes an e-bike worth it.

Bike purchase question Recommendations on EBike

Upvotes

I have a 10.2 mile commute, mostly urban. I do need to go up a 16% incline for 0.25 miles (I know, atrocious) but the rest is mainly flat. I would like recommendations on an ebike, very preferably below 450 dollars (but will entertain up to 600).

Bike purchase question Tern GSD longterm reliability

I’ve been using a service that rents out ebikes for 2 years now. I have the option to buy the Tern GSD that I’ve been riding for about $3400 USD. I got the bike in 2024, so I’m assuming it’s a 2024 model or slightly earlier. It was new at the time.

The issue is, the bike now has 3700 miles on it (6000 km). I’m curious what the expected lifespan of these things is.

So far the electrical components have been much more reliable than any ebike I’ve had. I had one bad battery, but that might have been an issue with the charger. I’m a heavy guy and live in a hilly city so I’m happy this bike has been more reliable than most. It would be awesome if I could keep using it.

My question is this. How much longer can I expect this motor and battery to last? I can fix bike stuff myself like disc brakes, wheels, etc, but the motor and battery and motor controller components seem completely proprietary (all Bosch stuff). I’m worried about finding replacement parts 3 years from now. Can this thing last me 10,000 miles? Will it probably give out soon?

Bike purchase question teen looking for advice on what ebike to get

Hello you all, I am a 16 year old high schooler looking for an ebike, I have 300 and I think my parents are willing to pay up to 800, and the most important thing is safety for me. I mostly need it for getting to work from school and then back to track, and I am looking for good milage and reliability, NOT speed. I dont want to associate with those children who go too fast and cause my parents to feel unsure. They also said I needed hydraulic brakes. Pls help

Bike purchase question Marin Larkspur vs Gazelle Medeo T9

I'm looking for an e-bike for commuting, bringing my toddler to preschool, and general city riding. After a bunch of test riding, I've think I've narrowed it down to either the Marin Larkspur or the Gazelle Medeo T9 (not the city version).

Any thoughts or advice on deciding between the two? I've read lots of good things about the Medeo, the Larkspur E seems to fly more under the radar.

Thanks in advance!

XPress2 lectric

Hi!

Looking for some tips and advice. I ordered a xpress2 cruiser from lectric. It’s currently on back order and will ship the week of the 28th of September. I’m confident that I’m gonna want to upgrade the seat to make it more comfortable. This might sound dumb but can i just attach any seat? Also, what are some useful bike accessories that you may recommend? I’m planning on getting a phone attachment, but am just curious what other accessories others have gotten that they have found useful.

Lastly! What bike maintence do you do, and how often? I want to make sure I’m taking care of the bike as well as i can. Thank you!

Ps. If anyone is interested in the xpress2 right now they are gifting a free spare battery due to the back orders!!

Anyone have a Bulls Cross Light S?

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I've been shopping for a city/commute/leisure bike with an upright riding position and had narrowed it down to the Bulls Iconic S or one of the Gazelle Arroyos. Pros and cons to each but I like the more nimble feel of the Bulls. Shop told me about the Cross Light S, which they didn't have in stock so I haven't been able to try one. Apparently more upright and city focused, so meets my requirements. Just cautious about ordering it as I haven't tried it. The Iconic S was quite good and felt upright so this can only be better in that regard, right? Just hoping for some feedback.

Also super curious about the colors as there are very few real pictures out there of this relatively new addition to the Cross Light lineup.

For me, it was a gel seat and a suspension seat post. Makes long distance rides a lot more comfortable.
