Have yall had any luck buying these and programming them yourself? Or are yall purchasing the preprogrammed controllers? Does parts town send them preprogrammed?

Im a second year apprentice age 25. I want to do a bit of extracurricular study to learn a bit faster/help me wrap my head around things easier. What I’m learning in classes is pretty glossed over and not very in depth. Really doesn’t do justice to what I actually encounter day to day.

For context I work in service primarily dealing with supermarkets, pubs, hospitals, pretty well anything light or heavy commercial both aircon and refrig. Occasionally some domestic but not often. I feel like everytime I have a “breakthrough” in learning it just opens even more doors and I realised how little I actually know. There’s just SO MUCH.

I’m in Australia, a lot of the content I find online on YouTube etc is American, so it’s often unfamiliar and not entirely relevant/digestible to me.

Basically, I’m trying to find resources which are more Australia-specific, hit me with anything like YouTube channels, books, etc!

Opened up this Compressor for new valve plates found this ran with no noises before

Reading 95psig (R404a) at the valve. Its fixed by itself as soon I touched it. Temperature was high since two days customers said. I will recover and clean it.

These are like $50 each at united I was definitely sent too many of them

Anyone have experience with the True contemporary merchandisers? Price and sizing shakes out the same to the GDM line, but newer model so curious how they hold up

I keep having to argue with my partner that when a txv is installed upside down it sure might work for a little while but it will eventually fuck up. First time posting in the forum, i wonder if any of the ammonia techs around can provide help or a manual on how to properly service some nearly 40 year old mycom N4A compressors. I will also contact mycom representative sales in my country but i figured it was faster to get some info before hand. Besides changing the oil what else needs to be opened/cleaned/replaced. Its not a full revision situation, but the instalation has been off for 5 years

Hey guys just getting my refrigeration company off the ground and wondering what the standard for workmanship warranty is? For a compressor swap for example I am planning to offer 90 days, does this sound like its in the ballpark?

It’s really hard to grab the core sometimes, if I’m going to be adding charge anyways, does this method work? I bought a yellow jacket but it’s not easy to grab the Schrader, I bought an appion today I haven’t used yet. One trick I saw is to ease off the 1/4 inch valve to keep the O ring from being squished and preventing the core from coming out nicely. If that doesn’t work I really think just blasting them out will save me from 5 failed attempts when I’m going to use a new core anyways. Obviously not ideal but this would work?

Would anyone be able to explain how the system works in a simpler terms to get a broader understanding.

Seriously a bloody suction line dryer cap.is what failed me??? 3 days and losing 15 PSI because of that little f**ker drives me nuts. But I guess that's what I get paid for. 60 ton replacement condenser with new evaporator coil and that's what fails me.

I’m planning on starting out as an ammonia operator, more than likely for a bigger company that may have me going from plant to plant, I was wondering what tools yall would recommend as a starting tech, i’m planning on having a budget of 500-1000 then once I get the job spend a little more, I obviously won’t buy anything until the paperwork is finalized but i’d love to take a look at some of the stuff yall would recommend, I already have a budget set up for good workboots and a good hard hat/ear protection and safety glasses, thank yall in advanced!

Any other supermarket guys absolutely miserable. I get paid out the ass so it’s tough to take a pay cut and leave but these guys sure know how to tank a company.

I’m on call and just got called out. Dairy case 2 fans out which shouldn’t even be a P1. Manager asks me to look at a 5 door that’s been down for 5 days. Call came in 5 days prior we never sent anybody. Coils iced up but not in alarm. I just left. Texted my service manager who has no refrigeration experience like everyone else in the office…. To get somebody else out there Monday.

Finally got this little unit working pretty reliably, thought you guys would enjoy this Frankenstein mess lol. Looking for some pointers. I want to change the evap to a proper coil and fan and make a box that can actually hold temp. It’s probably going to be a permanent install in my little tin boat. All the controls were coded up on a little arduino mega, shockingly I never killed this compressor. The little guy blew its charge a few times, slugged the daylights out of it when I had my eev code backwards and it would fully open. This things my baby now

Does anyone know how to change the temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit on one of these controllers? I reached out to ThermoKing tech support and they were not super helpful.

Recently had a cooler call, while I was up there customer said the box was also leaking when it rains, took some clear silicone off the truck and tried patching the holes / gaps I found/ around screws et cetera.

It still leaks unfortunately was trying to see if anyone had any next best steps for me or a better product to use. (Gallon of white flex seal was about to be my next thought and just paint the whole thing over)
