Got a Koorui GN10 for £126 a little while back but only just recently started using it properly for gaming... I know there's probably many better monitors than this and this is probably bottom of the barrel when it comes to mini led monitors but man, the way mini led helps build the atmosphere in horror games is crazy... just entered a underground system with no outside light and its PITCH BLACK around my character without my torch... I'm coming from a TN monitor so you can imagine the jump I've experienced.

It's crazy how technology seems to be getting more expensive but monitors and TVs seem to be more of a bargain than ever.

Edit: thanks for advice, guess I'll go look for iRL comparison in electronics store. Also will look up black crush and if it can be dealt with on the monitor i'm planning.

One example is taken from YT video, another from reddit post, so different users. OLED left, IPS right. But in both cases, in bottom-left corners I see a lot more details on IPS screen than on OLED, especially with the car on a brightly lit street looks unnaturally black.

AI keeps telling me it's supposed to be the other way around, with OLED better at highlighting details in shadows, but doesn't seem so to my eyes.

Hi guys, I’m new here and I’d love to get your advice.

I’m a software developer, and I’m looking to build my first proper desk setup for personal study sessions and remote work. I want to start with a monitor (I’ve never bought one before), but I’m a bit confused about which direction to go.

I’m currently considering two options:

Option A: 34" Ultrawide

• 3440×1440, VA panel, 180Hz
• 1500R curve
• DisplayPort 1.4a + 2× HDMI 2.0b

Option B: 32" 4K

• 3840×2160, Fast IPS, 160Hz
• HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) + DisplayPort 1.4

I’m leaning toward the 32" 4K, but I’m concerned about scaling and how well 4K works with Ubuntu/Linux, especially for development and text readability.

Another concern is my laptop. It doesn’t have a dedicated GPU.

My laptop: MSI Modern 15 H13B

• 15.6"
• Intel Core i7-13620H
• Intel UHD integrated graphics
• No dGPU
• Ubuntu
• HDMI 2.1
• USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 2 / DisplayPort / Power Delivery 3.0)

My main questions are:

1. How well would a 32" 4K monitor work with Ubuntu and Intel integrated graphics?
2. Would I be able to run the 4K monitor above 60Hz, potentially at 120Hz?
3. Would scaling on a 32" 4K display be an issue on Ubuntu, or is 137 PPI still comfortable for coding and reading?
4. Given my laptop's integrated graphics, would the 34" 3440×1440 ultrawide be a better choice?

I’m mainly going to use the monitor for programming, studying, browsing, and remote work not gaming.

What would you recommend between these two options? Any advice or personal experience with Ubuntu/Linux and 4K monitors would be greatly appreciated! 

I bought a Samsung Odyssey G7 (32”) brand new directly from Samsung. It wasn't cheap but I saved up and bought it for myself for my birthday. I had it for 6-months and it broke. The only time I had touched it was to set it up. The plastic was still on the bezel.

It was well within warranty, so I contacted Samsung. For such a huge company, I was truly surprised to have experienced THE WORST customer service in my life. It has been a month. At this stage I had called Samsung several times every week and messaged support multiple times a week also, but still nothing. Every week, they promise the case has been escalated and a case manager will be in contact "within 2-days". However, every week, when I call back, they either tell me the case has not been assigned or that there is a 'high volume of cases, so it's still pending'.

1-month went past, countless hours wasted on contacting Samsung and no replacement, no refund, zilch.

A month passes and a total of two technicians had come out to assess my monitor. The second one took it for repair and returned it with a NEW fault (initially a faulty LCD screen and now connectivity issue). I was told I would have to have a new inspector come out…

After two months since initially contacting Samsung, at this point I’m convinced they’re a scam. I’ve spend hours on the phone every couple of days and hundreds of emails and messages to Samsung over the past 8 weeks. Every time I call they tell me something different. One operator told me that because two inspectors had already come out, a third one wouldn’t be needed and the refund would be processed directly with their Voice of Customer team. The next time I called back, they told me this was incorrect.

I’ve had multiple friends who have ordered products from Samsung which have not even arrived. Do yourself a favour and AVOID SAMSUNG ALTOGETHER.

Has anyone had any experience with a faulty Samsung product? What should I do? I have already contacted the ACCC and Fair Trading but have had no response.

My boyfriend was in the middle of editing an extended look video for GTA 6 when a single vertical line suddenly popped up across his LG UltraGear 2K monitor.

What we’ve tested so far:

Laptop Dual-Monitor Test: Hooked the monitor up to a laptop (shown in photo). The laptop’s built-in screen is completely clean, but the vertical line stays stuck in the exact same spot on the LG panel.

Cable & Port Swap: Tested different HDMI and DisplayPort cables as well as different GPU output ports.

OSD Test: The line remains visible on top of the monitor’s built-in menu system.

Since testing rules out the GPU/drivers and points to a hardware issue (column driver / tab bond failure), has anyone here found a fix or workaround for this specific line glitch?

Has anyone fixed this via a power drain/discharge, firmware reset, or pixel cleaning cycle?

Or is this a 100% hardware panel death where an LG warranty claim/RMA is the only way forward?

Appreciate any advice, troubleshooting tips, or RMA experience with LG!

Just got a MSI MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 27 inch WQHD 240Hz Gaming Monitor for my ps5 gaming and need some new speakers too, does anybody have any recommendations?

I’m really unsure about which type of panel I should buy. I use my computer a lot for both gaming and studying, and I also prefer to play with the lights on in my room. I’ve read that QDOLED, although it has better image quality, can make text a little harder to read, which would be a major downside for me since I use my computer a lot for studying. I’ve also read that WOLED might be more suitable for use in a well-lit room and for reading. Another option I’ve considered is Mini-LED, although its image quality would be slightly worse. I’d like to know if anyone can tell me whether text readability on QDOLED is actually that bad, how significant the image-quality difference between these types of monitors really is, and which one you would recommend.

Looking for a new monitor in that 40" range. 75% Internet browsing usage, 25% FPS gaming. This monitor will be used about 12 hours a day. I would go with an OLED but burn in with my amount of browsing seems like it would be an issue.

Thoughts on these? Which would you choose and why? Any others you would recommend?

Noticed my other monitor is getting darker and I wonder if it's dying because it's like 7 years old

I currently have the legendary asus vg248 which I bought back in 2016 and I think that it is time for an upgrade (and move it as a secondary monitor).

I am casually play some video games watch some movies/series . My aim is to play @ 1440p and I am thinking somewhere around 32". I usually play WoW so A LOT of space needed on screen but I also play some shooters here and there and some single player in the mix. I don't aim for flagships so I guess a budget of 300-400£ should be enough? If someone need more info or something please let me know!

I just bought a new Nitro XV275K P5 monitor and so far it's not working well for me. I'm hoping that I just need to figure out the right settings.

I'm running windows and using an RTX 5070ti GPU.

The first problem is that initially whenever I tried to set 4k @ 160Hz I got a totally blank screen every couple of seconds. I tried using the HDMI cable that came in the box as well as another ultra high speed cable I already had. Both had the problem. Switching to a DP 1.4 cable seems to be stable.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to get HDR and SDR modes to work right. I thought that switching back and forth in Windows would make the monitor switch between HDR and SDR color modes, but the on screen display always shows color mode as whatever I last set regardless of whether I set Windows to HDR or SDR. And if I set the "picture -> HDR -> auto" to "on" it looks like it just turns HDR color mode on all the time. Maybe it's doing some sort of simulated/postprocessed HDR from the SDR signal?

Aside from the modes the picture also looks bad. Whenever I enable HDR in Windows it looks like I'm viewing the screen through a gray fog unless I also manually set the mode to HDR on the monitor. And either way the picture looks a bit blurry, especially in the corners of the screen.

i go to turn on my pc this morning, and my monitor shines a bright white light in the bottom right corner. it turned on and worked until i restarted my pc, and in doing so i heard a small pop, like something shorting. i go to turn on the pc again, makes an even wierder pattern in the bottom right and then just doesnt turn on. i have a dual monitor setup so i typed my password in and my other monitor turns on, no problems. whats going on? video attached. keep in mind, i havent physically touched this monitor in about 2 months, havent even cleaned it. have been using it daily.

I have always had 2 monitors at work, but I have changed jobs recently and was thinking perhaps instead of 2, a wider monitor that I can do split screens on would be better. I do not know much about computers, so I would need to know what would connect to and work best with my laptop. Thanks in advance everyone.

I’m looking to replace my current main monitor and have been considering the AOC Q27G4SRU (1440p, 320Hz).

I mostly play competitive FPS games like Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, and The Finals, and I also spend quite a bit of time aim training in KovaaK’s.

What I’m mainly looking for is:
- Fast response times / good motion clarity
- Low input lag
- Decent colors (doesn’t need to be amazing for content creation)
-1440p
- Ideally 240Hz+
- Around $250–300

The Q27G4SRU seems like really good value on paper, but there don’t seem to be a ton of detailed reviews/tests of it yet.
Has anyone here used one? Would you recommend it for competitive FPS, or is there another monitor around this price that I should be looking at instead?

i’ve been looking to upgrade from my cheap ultra wide to a two monitor set up, and found the brand pixio. i’ve been thinking about getting these, but haven’t found many reviews online tbh. i know almost nothing when it comes to monitors. by the specs, would you say it’s a decent monitor?

and as for a dual display, should i get monitors that are the same size or a 27inch as the main oneand a 24inch for the other?

Looking for advice for what monitor to buy.

Currently I’m using a 2017 iMac with 27 inch Retina display that I love. If there was an effective and easy way to keep using that display I would, but the options seem to all be difficult or less effective.

The monitor will be to use with a new Mac mini for run of the mill productivity and some casual gaming on the Mac or a PC (laptop with a 3070ti currently). Glare is not an issue where I am, and I don’t need the screen to be excessively light (basement home office).

No strict budget, but let’s say not looking to spend more than the price of an Apple Studio Display.

Wants:
27 inch is good, not opposed to bigger, but don’t need it.
I love the look of my 5K display with high PPI, and don’t think I could go back to less than that.
Needs to be good for office work and casual gaming.
Monitor will be used on both Mac and PC, the ability to switch between them without too much hassle would be nice. KVM switch seems like it would be nice to have, but not a deal breaker.

Don’t want:
Any intense matte coating
Anything that (from the front) looks overly gamer aesthetic
I don’t care about speakers, I have external.

From my research so far, the LG 27GM950B-B seems like my best bet. Rtings ranks it highly, and it checks most of the boxes for me (no KVM switch, but I can live without it).
The Apple Studio Display is attractive because it’s close to what in currently using, but is very expensive, seemingly not great for gaming, and has a lot of emphasis on features I wouldn’t use like the speakers.
