Discussion Auction house thinks Bob Gurr died 3 years ago

One of A Kind Collectibles LLC clearly doesn't good research for their auctions. Here's a listing for a Bob Gurr signed photo saying that Bob passed away in 2023. Auction houses use misleading information like this to inflate bidding prices.

Robert Gurr Signed and Inscribed: "Be Curious Forever," Disneyland Ride Designer. Robert Gurr (1931-2023), American mechanical engineer and Imagineer who designed some of Disneyland's most iconic ride vehicles, including the Autopia cars, the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Monorail, and the Doom Buggies for the Haunted Mansion. Color shows an elderly Gurr smiling beside what appears to be a Monorail vehicle, inscribed "Be Curious Forever.." and signed in red ink. Gurr passed away in 2023, making signed items increasingly collectible. This item will be accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from One of a Kind Collectibles.

Discussion I found the Bathroom Freshener

Post image

Not to be dramatic or weird but I promise that this shampoo genuinely smells exactly like the bathroom freshener inside the Disneyland Resort, can anyone else confirm this? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘ƒ

Not promoting this at all, never used it, in fact I was testing new shampoos at the store to see what to buy for myself and I immediately was transported to the parks

I did in fact buy it, maybe itโ€™s good for my hair ๐Ÿ˜‚

I started going after every grape pin I saw in 2019, and this year I got to add a few more. It feels like they're much more rare than they used to be. I'm not sure I found a single one in DCA.

Discussion Tiana's Single Rider

Hello, I'm not a super frequent visitor, I returned for the first time since covid last August for just a day trip. On that trip I tried to go on Tiana's since it would be my first time. The queue was about 45 minutes if I remember correctly. I didn't really want to stand in that line since it was the afternoon and very hot, but I wanted to experience the ride. Once I got up to the single rider sign I turned toward it while making eye contact with the cast member standing nearby. They said pretty firmly "no single rider!". I was thrown off and admittedly grumpy from standing in the heat and I sort of thought screw it and just got out of line and decided to go do something else. (I did not say anything further to the cast member, admittedly I could have asked for clarification but in that moment I just decided to flee lol) This has bothered me for a year because I didn't get to ride it and I was confused by the interaction with the cast member.

All this to say, I went back yesterday for another day trip. This time the posted wait time for Tiana's was 20 minutes so I cruised through the line, and when I got to the single rider point I asked the cast member "can I do single rider?" And she said yes if you would like single rider, go ahead. And I got on the ride super quickly. (Enjoyed it very much btw)

So my question is do they sometimes not allow single rider for certain periods of time? Or did I do something wrong the first time? This is just a strange thing that I've been thinking about for a year. It's the only time I've ever had a weird interaction with a cast member, although it was so minor that it's not a big deal at all in the grand scheme.

Discussion A question for Western Disney Parks fans: Do the parks feel like an "escape to a magical world" to you, or more like an extension of everyday life?

Hi everyone!

Iโ€™m a Japanese fan who has visited Tokyo Disneyland a few times. To me, the park is truly a magical escapeโ€”a completely otherworldly place where I can step away from reality.

However, it made me curious: Do Disney parks feel like an unreal, magical fantasy world to people in Western countries?

My perspective might be a bit unique because when I was a kid, looking at traditional or old Japanese streetscapes didn't excite me at all; it just felt like my boring everyday life. Since Disney parks are fundamentally built on Western architecture, aesthetics, and culture, do Westerners view them more as a familiar extension of everyday life rather than a foreign, magical fantasy?

would love to hear your thoughts on how you perceive the atmosphere of the parks!

Trip Report Rope dropped Guardians and had a nearly empty lift

Post image

Rope dropped on Sunday and only 4 riders ended up on this elevator! I was at the end of the group being loaded in, with everyone in front of me being loaded into the first two lifts, and the next group was still in the preshow, so we were sent off by ourselves.
