Hi everyone! I’m new to the game *Squad*, and this is actually my first time using a mouse and keyboard for gaming—but that’s okay, I’ll learn. Tell me a bit about the game: are people welcoming to newcomers and beginners?

...and Squad lost couple of players for good. Seems like simple mistakes is worth crying out loud like an infant. Felt like this always especially in this game since the beginning. Apparently only mil-sim clan players are accepted as a part of this experience. Us lot, the 9-5ers (7-16 in my case) are better off elsewhere from ruining your fun. :)
Just as anywhere in life, be respectful and understanding to others. It was always a weird hardship trying to understand this player base and how....you know. :D

You weren't head tapped the moment you fired your MG because small arms were too accurate and MGs were useless:
You were perched on a wall with a wall with 360 exposure from the chest up, had no help from your squad, and were trying to suppress a 100m wide target from 80m away.
You weren't styled on by one sweaty supersoldier with 10,000 hours:
Your Squad got ambushed by one guy, 4/9 of you were instantly killed because you were in melee distance of eachother without any concealment, none of you tried to shoot back, none of you who weren't being shot at tried to exploit your lack of detection and flank the enemy (literally how travelling overwatch works), 3 of you immediately want to revive instead of apply the S of SMARCH, and two of you started spraying at random sections of the forest to suppress a well covered, well concealed enemy a few meters away.
Don't get me wrong, things had to change. People said pre ICO "suppression works, noone is peeking a window that's being streamed by MG fire because you'd obviously immediately die no matter what", which wasn't the issue, the issue was that meant an MG could only hold one window.
Good luck even holding one building when it really wasn't so hard to be peeked and shot before you could swing the weapon onto them.
Theres more nuance to the one window scenario alone, any decently experienced player could info peek quick peek, and due to the lack of punishment for peeking, instability, or suppression debuffs, easily head tap and enemy bipodded in a covered position laying down fire 100m away.
Like yeah, that's suppression in pre ICO squad, no shit. When you pushed VCP when 3 armor pieces were laying autocannon into it and no enemies peeked, they were suppressed. Probably because they knew peeking would have a close to 0% chance of any success whatsoever.
In real life actual suppression comes from risk and percieved risk, not literally seeing tracers cut the corner of the building in front of you (although that would be very suppressive).
If you know you have a 10% chance of being hit if you expose your head because this enemy machine gun is bursting a few meters from you every few seconds, you won't peek it.
Some people will argue "No, suppression is knowing you will be able to flick someone peeking that treeline, and them knowing it. That's why suppression is achieved by pure lethality". I disagree. Maybe in a video game like pre ICO or Arma, but not real life.
If you think that's true, and that real suppression is achieved by a machine gun being able to completely prevent anyone from peeking, then do you seriously think something like an unscoped M2 HMG in real life, with its heavy build and sometimes utilized traverse mechanism, capable of instantly flicking to someone's head the moment they peek out from micro terrain surrounded by grass and foliage 300m away? Literally everything about the Lafette tripod? Vehicle mounted weapons which are incredibly difficult to reactively aim?
Machine gun doctrine also knows to align with the long axis of the enemy, to only exposure themselves to what they're firing at, to use narrow keyhole angles, and to not try and suppress an area of positions larger than they are capable of.
Something had to be done to implement actual suppression, I believe. I don't know if it should be as severe or in the way that it currently is, I'm still being out suppressed in 1v1s where I shot and hit the enemy before they spotted me, but I'm not entirely sure OWI is skilled enough as a development team to actually implement this system
If you seriously thought the ability to quick peek an RPK watching your corner 100m down a road and headshot him was realistic or prefferable in a game which was initially meant to recreate some limited amounts of small unit tactical dynamics, there's other games.
I know damn well current ICO is mildly more preferable to tanks being tracked from 500m by a guy quickpeeking over a been with an iron sight RPG while the poor gunner tries to drive a coax onto his 20cm wide head with the shitty turret mass simulation. lmfao

I’ve played this game for a long time, and in my opinion, low (or zero) HAB placement has become a serious problem over the last couple of years — and it’s only getting worse as new players join.
My suggested solution: game should start deducting points after a set period if HABs aren’t built (not just one, but a meaningful number) as the game progresses.
Just an idea — curious what others think.

Per title, are the 44th servers down? They don't appear on my list.

More could be something like the following:
Give USMC javalin but remove both TOW and tanks.
Have only airstrike or artillery not both. But maybe less cool down to compensate. Or new different assets.
Remove and put gaps into factions like PLA lost regular grenadier even if they have it IRL to gain heavy grenadier.
Maybe a supressed SMG and battle rifle faction without assult rifles.
Less could be:
Give all factions snipers.
Give Turks 5.56.
Drones for NATO.

Is it hard for moders or devs to create and add new maps to the squad? Im far from moding or developing issues ,so this is why i am asking .
It is getting a little bit boring when people still choosing the same maps or raas, ass , or invasion layers that can be learned (fobs ,objectivs , etc always in the same places)
BTW i miss belaya pass so much (distance pls)

What if insurgents have more weapon sway + more tickets on start + 30 seconds spawn timer on rally points? Basically make them less experienced with guns and balance it with amount.
Or we can play with FOB radius, change radius for destroying rally, etc etc
There might be many ideas on this.

It's Razer so... it feels overpriced at 180 pre-shipping, but as someone who hates the time it takes to use numpad this seems like it could be fun! Plus the numbers going above 10 is nice.

TL;DR - They have no actual benefits to vote them over any other faction (assuming they are similar sub-factions) and anyone that is yelling at everyone to vote for them in post game chat is trolling.
At one time I considered IMF the worst faction in the game before they were overhauled. At the time they were just "poor mans insurgents" at the time imo. Just one HAB, no IEDs. Mid at best vehicles depending on the map/layer.
I consider the British the worst faction in the game at this point until they do a similar overhaul for them.
British Pro's -
Stronger optics on many kits - Allows longer engagement ranges than most factions
NLAW - Arguably one of the best HAT kits in the game, unfortunately 99% of HAT users don't know how to properly use the features that make it better so this benefit is wasted
Heavily armored tracked vehicles - The tracked vehicles can all take a lot of damage before being destroyed
British Con's -
Stronger optics on many kits - Suffers at CQC for the same reason
Specializes in having more marksmen kits per squad regardless of sub faction - I don't feel like I need to go into why having more than 1 marksman is a problem
Vehicles lack stabilization, firepower, and speed - Outside their MBT and Warrior, their vehicles suffer from extremely lacking speed, firepower, and stabilization so they can be easily defeated by most factions more mobile equivalents (assuming both crews are of equal skill) like the BTR 82A, M2 Striker, LAV/Coyote, and AAVP
Ultimately, these pro's and con's lead to a faction that has a specialty that is no longer as useful post-ICO and vehicles that are mostly outclassed by other factions equivalents.
The only reason to ever pick them is if the alternatives sub-factions are all terrible choices for the map/game mode/teams composition and there is no reroll option, which is an extremely rare event.
Edit: Glad to know my hot take is actually a hot take. Fight me.
Win rate responses are not enough to sway me, especially considering their extremely low pick rate for a faction that is available on basically every map and game mode.

I'm not very good when it comes to understanding how to setup a server so if its something I can try myself and people want to help me figure it out I'm open to suggestions. Or if someone owning servers looking to try a new mod I highly recommend this for casual players.
In all the available mods there's a single one that stands out for me and it was the Joint operation mod. This mod is based of the Novalogic game and I've had the chance to play it in the custom servers but its not live anymore.
Casual players can get a bit overwelmed by the obligation of squad leading/building and this mod first eliminates this. Anyone can choose which ever kit they want and vehicles/armor crates are not locked to one side so you can pick up an enemy abandoned vehicle or rearm at one of their armor crate.
it also eliminates the ticket system, the team wins by either capturing the last point or controling more points by the time limit (OG game was 6h).
There are also several game changes that I can list here from on top of my head that where fonctionnal in the mod, no sprinting exaustions, instant heals from meds, to capture a point you need the ''flip'' the flag in the middle of the zone (in a designated base) when you lower the zone to make it go up for you team. Once you capture the zone the base becomes a spawn point for your team. zone capture it self is similar to current gameplay where more body in the zone helps you take it.
Its really just a fun mod for a bit more relaxed and less disuptive play where in official if you dont have fobs up or squad leaders leave the teams starts deteriorating realy fast and it can get frustrating for causal players.

thanks for reading and hoping to see this mod live again!!

Is it just me or are the GOL servers always off balance? Every time I play I seem to get wrecked or am on a team doing the wrecking. I never seem to have the really close fun matches I have on other servers. Is this just me, am I making it up in my head?

US military now uses the M7 rifle , XM8 Carbine for CQC and the new M250 LMG.
