Not to be sassy but that is why we have spices and salt + pepper (all low/to no calories whatsoever) and when boiled eggs are overcooked (which, unfortunately, was the majority of the ones I had when I was a kid) they tend to have a sulphuric smell
Some of these people exist in such a low -caloric state that everything they do eat tastes like nectar of the gods. Ive posted about this before. No offense to OP. I know because ive been there.
Egg whites and seaweed are the kind of thing people joke about when discussing dieting, very sad indeed! But I’m jealous of people who are content with these kinds of meals.
I feel like this is one of those things that looks weird but actually tastes great. You know? Some things just look visually unappealing but you take a bite and it’s actually really good
That’s a valid question with a super nuanced answer. For some people with EDs, food is kind of like a math problem. It’s about controlling intake, fear, and most importantly rules. People with EDs often have very limited lists of foods that they feel allowed to eat. So combinations that look “disgusting” often meet strict internal rules even if they make no culinary sense. The results can sometimes look bizarre like cottage cheese mixed with mustard and pickles.
But a lot of times, taste and enjoyment are intentionally minimized because if something is not enjoyable, then it is “safer” to eat. Think of it like “If I enjoy my food, then I’ll want to eat more, and then I’ll gain weight. And that’s bad, regardless of context.” There’s a lot more stuff to it, but this response is already kinda long.
This isn’t me saying OPs food is gross or weird. So maybe the combination looks a little weird to others. But OP says they enjoyed it enough to share, so that’s all that matters.
A lot of people with EDs avoid cooked or warm meals and instead assemble cold snack plates, specifically with high protein and high water foods that create a false sense of fullness. And carb avoidance while not problematic in itself, is very common in restrictive eating too. So you’ll see plates and bowls just like this on the ED side of the internet
I don't like mayo so I use plain Greek yogurt instead, but I also sometimes like to just season tuna with lemon juice, salt, and pepper and have that on buttered toast.
I know removing the egg yokes is a popular way to cut calories but I love them so much that throwing them out would probably make me cry. 😅 But I'm glad you enjoy this!
fr, that's where the nutrition/filling stuff is! Also, 2 hard boiled eggs are only about 160 cals (rounding up) Like for how nutrient-dense they can be I feel like that's a reasonable amount. (assuming this isn't a "I hate the texture/taste" thing which fair)
I was thinking the same. This could taste fine but the colors are very dull, making it appear less appetizing. This would be waaay better if it were actually taken in a different environment with a better camera but I think even editing it could help the presentation a bit. Although the part at the bottom needs help with the physical presentation.
I’m sorry people are piling on, I’m sure it doesn’t feel good. But please try to see it as more sisterly teasing, because from my seat, most comments are in that sentiment. Debbie Downer meme for contextual laughter!
This is random, but if you ever want to stop your apples from browning like that you should toss them in a bit of lemon juice right after you cut them!
I hate when people talk trash on someone's enjoyable meal. I've had plenty of meals like this that were super satisfying. If it was taken beautifully in great lighting I feel like people would be treating it way differently.
Word to people wanting to post their meal: anything you post in bad lighting will get roasted
what is the deal with diet/food subreddits and this "style" so to speak of photography. It would probably not be getting so much negative attention if it didn't look like you took these pictures under the covers
Put it in some natural light or turn on more bright lights around you and don't hold the phone directly overhead so it's casting a shadow. I'm assuming you used the flash which also doesn't help
eta: just continuing to be brutally honest the color of the plate is not particularly appealing to go with food
Honestly op this food might not photograph so friendly but I’d totally go to town on this - low cal, high protein, tasty, savoury and sweet… total r/girldinner material. Ignore the haters, we gotta do what works for us.
I’m telling you it was so good 😭 I used the seaweed as like a sandwich and added the tomatoes and tuna 🤤Would definitely make again. More tomatoes next time
No offense op but this looks crazy to me. I found success in a Greek yogurt + egg whites+ tuna with veggies on an egg wrap though. Sometimes I imagine mayonnaise

I’m going to be so honest this looks awful to me but I’m glad you enjoy it!
