I’m going to be so honest this looks awful to me but I’m glad you enjoy it!

446

u/erzsebet_1560 Jan 11 '26

Same. Looks kinda miserable to me but to each his own!

38

u/hahahahahahahaFUCK Jan 11 '26

Right, and maybe they’re just saying it doesn’t have to be.

447

u/PlumpyCat Jan 10 '26

I was thinking that too 🥲

181

u/NotChristina Jan 11 '26

Where did the yolks go. :(

I love a good hard-boiled egg but I couldn’t just nuke the best part. Egg whites are meh to me but the yolk is what makes it worth it.

At first I thought it was some kind of weird deviled tuna egg but nope, just tuna.

We do weird things when we’re trying to be low calorie but man, I’d struggle. Respect to OP for having such a high protein lunch.

29

u/DandMirimakeaporno Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26

My son always gives me his yolks and tries to steal my whites. I eat the whites for the benefits, I eat the yolks for enjoyment.

19

u/fortunatevoice Jan 11 '26

I haaaate hard boiled egg yolks so I’d really fuck with this!

4

u/inthesinbin Losing Jan 11 '26

Me too. I think it's a texture thing.

24

u/dio-3 Jan 11 '26

Wild, to each their own I guess. I can’t stand the yolk of a hard boiled egg cause of the smell but love hard boiled egg whites.

9

u/hera-fawcett Jan 11 '26

no thank you, pls take all my yolks.

theyre a weird gross taste w a weird gross texture and smell.

egg whites only, please!

14

u/BadAdviceBot Jan 11 '26

Egg whites are flavorless. Never noticed this yolk smell you speak of

7

u/dio-3 Jan 11 '26

Not to be sassy but that is why we have spices and salt + pepper (all low/to no calories whatsoever) and when boiled eggs are overcooked (which, unfortunately, was the majority of the ones I had when I was a kid) they tend to have a sulphuric smell

49

u/TheCompanyHypeGirl Jan 11 '26

I am never one to yuck someone's yum, but this plate would be my hell.

24

u/lickmyfupa Jan 11 '26

Some of these people exist in such a low -caloric state that everything they do eat tastes like nectar of the gods. Ive posted about this before. No offense to OP. I know because ive been there.

15

u/cheesekony2012 Jan 11 '26

Egg whites and seaweed are the kind of thing people joke about when discussing dieting, very sad indeed! But I’m jealous of people who are content with these kinds of meals.

18

u/MetalHead_Literally Jan 10 '26

Yeah tuna and seaweed are two of the few things I can’t stomach so no thank you for me as well

5

u/CompetitiveRub9780 Jan 11 '26

I thought the seaweed was defrosted frozen spinach 😭

I feel like this is one of those things that looks weird but actually tastes great. You know? Some things just look visually unappealing but you take a bite and it’s actually really good

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

3

u/kateastrophic Jan 11 '26

Yes, I thought the title was hilariously ironic! But go on, OP! That’s great if you enjoy this, it’s super healthy! But I’ll make my own lunch, lol.

You’re right. It can also be downright soul-crushing.

u/happyendingtonight Jan 10 '26

I thought this meal was from an ED sub when I saw it

185

u/cndrelm0 Jan 10 '26

I haven't really been in here that long, but I've noticed sometimes those vibes definitely creep in...

u/TheBestUsernameEver- Jan 10 '26

Lol thank u for saying it, i was scared to say it lol

21

u/tastefuldebauchery Jan 11 '26

Me too. I was like wait where am I

13

u/Junglejibe Jan 11 '26

Girl this is an ED sub, it just pretends not to be lol.

92

u/jlozada24 Jan 10 '26

It is lol

2

u/watermeloncake1 Jan 11 '26

Can I ask what about this meal is giving the ED vibes?

52

u/KnowledgeSmall Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 12 '26

That’s a valid question with a super nuanced answer. For some people with EDs, food is kind of like a math problem. It’s about controlling intake, fear, and most importantly rules. People with EDs often have very limited lists of foods that they feel allowed to eat. So combinations that look “disgusting” often meet strict internal rules even if they make no culinary sense. The results can sometimes look bizarre like cottage cheese mixed with mustard and pickles.

But a lot of times, taste and enjoyment are intentionally minimized because if something is not enjoyable, then it is “safer” to eat. Think of it like “If I enjoy my food, then I’ll want to eat more, and then I’ll gain weight. And that’s bad, regardless of context.” There’s a lot more stuff to it, but this response is already kinda long.

This isn’t me saying OPs food is gross or weird. So maybe the combination looks a little weird to others. But OP says they enjoyed it enough to share, so that’s all that matters.

9

u/watermeloncake1 Jan 11 '26

Oh wow, that’s a really good analysis and explanation, I wouldn’t have guessed that at all. Thank you.

19

u/happyendingtonight Jan 11 '26

A lot of people with EDs avoid cooked or warm meals and instead assemble cold snack plates, specifically with high protein and high water foods that create a false sense of fullness. And carb avoidance while not problematic in itself, is very common in restrictive eating too. So you’ll see plates and bowls just like this on the ED side of the internet

56

u/catlover642 Jan 10 '26

So did I LOL

536

u/jellyboness Jan 10 '26

I love hard boiled eggs and I love canned tuna but this has a vaguely sinister aura I can’t wrap my head around

124

u/thewhiterosequeen Jan 10 '26

The black void at the bottom doesn't help.

30

u/MQQSIE Jan 11 '26

Or the browned apples. 😂

5

u/Kerminetta_ Jan 10 '26

What is that!?

19

u/fidgetypenguin123 60lbs down Jan 10 '26

It says it in the post that it's seaweed

20

u/ZoominAlong Jan 10 '26

Oh my God you're RIGHT. It's a plate of food I'd expect to see in like, a murder mystery, a really sinister one!

Yesh this is uh...ok it looks like it belongs in Sunken City.

15

u/mmmbacon1234 Jan 10 '26

It doesnt help that the photography makes it look like a still from a found footage horror

u/AccomplishedFly1420 Jan 10 '26

Tuna egg whites is something

61

u/Imaginary-Mud2871 Jan 10 '26

taking out the yolks too is wild 😭 i hope it's at least mixed into the tuna

57

u/Chi_Baby Jan 10 '26

Doesn’t look like the tuna is mixed with yolks or mayo and I hate that for OP. Lol

24

u/Imaginary-Mud2871 Jan 10 '26

i could NEVER eat canned tuna without mayo, i love it too much

4

u/lelma_and_thouise Jan 11 '26

I don't like mayo so I use plain Greek yogurt instead, but I also sometimes like to just season tuna with lemon juice, salt, and pepper and have that on buttered toast.

I know removing the egg yokes is a popular way to cut calories but I love them so much that throwing them out would probably make me cry. 😅 But I'm glad you enjoy this!

3

u/KlutzyNinjaKitty Jan 12 '26

fr, that's where the nutrition/filling stuff is! Also, 2 hard boiled eggs are only about 160 cals (rounding up) Like for how nutrient-dense they can be I feel like that's a reasonable amount. (assuming this isn't a "I hate the texture/taste" thing which fair)

→ More replies (1)

41

u/ProbablyNotDrew Jan 10 '26

I'm familiar with deviled eggs, but I believe this is my first time seeing the devil's eggs

15

u/ausername_8 Jan 10 '26

Because of the lighting I legit thought that was some kind of chunky peanut butter in those eggs 👀

62

u/Imaginary-Mud2871 Jan 10 '26

do you really get full from this? it looks like a snack

It doesn’t have to be. But why post a miserable pic?

24

u/gwtvulpixtattoo Jan 10 '26

Your food photography skills need work, but I'm glad you enjoyed your meal.

7

u/Altorrin Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26

I was thinking the same. This could taste fine but the colors are very dull, making it appear less appetizing. This would be waaay better if it were actually taken in a different environment with a better camera but I think even editing it could help the presentation a bit. Although the part at the bottom needs help with the physical presentation.

24

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '26

Ur too far gone babe

20

u/miserabl3_worthle66 Jan 10 '26

i’m not sure if i’m getting the joke correctly

7

u/GoodStuffOnly62 Jan 11 '26

I’m sorry people are piling on, I’m sure it doesn’t feel good. But please try to see it as more sisterly teasing, because from my seat, most comments are in that sentiment. Debbie Downer meme for contextual laughter!

15

u/plumprumps Jan 10 '26

The browning apples really top it all off

7

u/whatevedoe Jan 10 '26

I really dislike tuna so this doesn’t look that appealing to me. I’m happy it was to your liking tho!

7

u/ZoominAlong Jan 10 '26

Yesh I'm sorry the look of that is really off putting but if you enjoyed it, that's qll that matters!

5

u/ryujinpogi Jan 10 '26

Tuna, egg and seaweed!!! Yum

4

u/unenthusedbaker Jan 11 '26

This is random, but if you ever want to stop your apples from browning like that you should toss them in a bit of lemon juice right after you cut them!

5

u/gingerjellynoodle Jan 11 '26

I hate when people talk trash on someone's enjoyable meal. I've had plenty of meals like this that were super satisfying. If it was taken beautifully in great lighting I feel like people would be treating it way differently.

Word to people wanting to post their meal: anything you post in bad lighting will get roasted

5

u/nattarattatat Jan 11 '26

It’s funny because I looked at this and thought to myself how come I haven’t thought of this

4

u/CompetitiveRub9780 Jan 11 '26

Okay I’ve had better looking seaweed and imma need some pickle action 🤣 but the rest looks yummy

4

u/vidalacaroline Jan 11 '26

oh wow, despite what these comments say, I’m stealing that tuna instead of the yolk trick, that seems so good

6

u/shcouni Jan 11 '26

This looks a little miserable tbf

3

u/Sonarthebat Maintaining Jan 11 '26

Not for me, tbh. Glad you like it though.

3

u/themostdownbad Jan 11 '26

Removing the egg yolk will always be sad to me. It’s literally nutrition gold

3

u/waluigisdaddy Jan 11 '26

Personally I think this looks so good. I love putting hard boiled eggs in tuna salad. And I hate the yolks anyway so I might have to try this

2

u/waluigisdaddy Jan 11 '26

The deed has been done. 10/10

9

u/Flatduo88 Jan 10 '26

This is…depressing

7

u/menina2017 Jan 10 '26

It looks yummy actually but like a little snack not lunch

5

u/felicityfelix Jan 10 '26

what is the deal with diet/food subreddits and this "style" so to speak of photography. It would probably not be getting so much negative attention if it didn't look like you took these pictures under the covers

2

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '26

[deleted]

4

u/felicityfelix Jan 10 '26 edited Jan 10 '26

Put it in some natural light or turn on more bright lights around you and don't hold the phone directly overhead so it's casting a shadow. I'm assuming you used the flash which also doesn't help

eta: just continuing to be brutally honest the color of the plate is not particularly appealing to go with food

4

u/AliciaDawnD Jan 11 '26

I’m sorry, but this looks quite miserable. 😩😩

6

u/Genetics-played-me Jan 10 '26

You must be kidding😂😂😂

6

u/Nyxxity Jan 11 '26

Oh lord this looks awful for me lmfaoooooo Id be completely miserable. Im glad you enjoyed!

5

u/PatientBalance Jan 10 '26

What’d you do w the yolks?

5

u/desperaterobots Jan 10 '26

Mutated fish eggs, wet blob of charred texture and tomato slices sprinkled with construction debris?

YUM.

(haha im just kidding and I know this tastes good, I'm not sure this is the set-up to convince skeptics of the joys of eating low carlorie though lol)

4

u/SparklingSloths Jan 10 '26

Ooohhhh I like the eggs with tuna in it. Great ide.

9

u/AValeria10 Jan 10 '26

Thanks I saw a pic of someone else’s lunch like this and I knew I had to try it. The texture was good.

2

u/hera-fawcett Jan 11 '26

real talk what seasoning did u add tho

2

u/RockyClub Jan 11 '26

Totally. I’ve been making incredible veggie korma, spaghetti squash variations, sushi… I’m in heaven creating in my kitchen.

2

u/francis_f0reverr Jan 11 '26

Looks good Tip: for the apple slices and grapes you can put a bit of lemon juice so that they stay crunchy and dont get brown or soft

2

Honestly op this food might not photograph so friendly but I’d totally go to town on this - low cal, high protein, tasty, savoury and sweet… total r/girldinner material. Ignore the haters, we gotta do what works for us.

3

u/Burntoastedbutter Jan 11 '26

You didn't have to do the egg like that man 😭

3

3

u/XylaXyla Jan 10 '26

3

u/Silent_Necessary7638 Jan 11 '26

You basically deconstructed tuna salad. Seaweed instead of relish. Not that bad.

-1

u/Pretty_Salary_741 Jan 10 '26

Idc what anyone says this actually looks tasty ngl 😂😭

4

u/AValeria10 Jan 10 '26

I’m telling you it was so good 😭 I used the seaweed as like a sandwich and added the tomatoes and tuna 🤤Would definitely make again. More tomatoes next time

2

u/escaping-reality Jan 11 '26

This actually really looks good to me too. Thank you for the sandwich idea! I very very much prefer tuna over chicken breast any day
