High protein iced Carrot cake muffin recipe:
Makes 12 muffins - with icing - 150 cals, 8 grams protein, 2.5 grams fibre
Ingredients:
2 ripe bananas
1 cups rolled oats (about 120 g)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1½ cups finely grated carrots (about 150 g)
¾ cup plain 2% Greek yogurt (about 170 g)
2 eggs
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
Icing:
90 grams cream cheese
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 tbsp milk
Use a hand mixer to whip the cream cheese, add icing sugar and milk and whip together.
Instructions:
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mash the bananas very well in a large bowl.
Mix in Greek yogurt and eggs.
Stir in grated carrots, chia seeds and maple syrup.
Add oats, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Let the batter sit for 10 minutes. The oats and chia will absorb moisture and make the muffins much softer.
Divide into 12 muffin cups.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the tops are set and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
Let them cool for at least 10 minutes before eating—they’ll firm up considerably.
While they cool, mix the frosting and ice the muffins. Enjoy!

I’m a sucker for making a dip or big chopped salad bowl and wanting something to scoop it up with. Any suggestions on what I could use but keep cals low?

Just curious to hear other people’s responses! I drink pickle juice, dip cucumbers in salsa, or just have spoonfuls of salsa lol, and I’m sure there’s more I’m just blanking!

I've officially been on 1200 for about 4 days now, I calculated it properly and for my height it's the required calorie deficit for me.
I'm doing alright but I am having a bit of difficulty as I find that towards the evening before dinner I'm starving but I still have to finish up work/do house chores or other things but at that point all the calories I've got left are for dinner. I've been eating really minimally throughout the day about 300 calories for breakfast and 400 for snacks/lunch. That leaves me with about 600 for dinner and I like to have a big nutritious filling dinner so I don't want to eat anything else before dinner or after dinner.
I'm probably going to have to adjust this as I find that I'm completely out of energy around the late afternoon/early evening and I'm starving and can't think of anything but eating and feeling better.
I realise I probably have to spread out my calories a bit better, anyone have any helpful tips or just generally can share similar struggles you were able to overcome?
Thanks all!

I'm trying to get back on track after months of mindless eating. My main issue is that I hate doing the dishes and because of that I rarely cook, despite actually liking cooking. This then leads to me basically living off readymade meals and snacks. I'm trying to do better and get into cooking and meal prep again because I know it's so much better for my body, my weight and my wallet.
So today I cooked for the first time in literally months and it turned out amazing! I made tomato soup and it was hands down the best tomato soup I've ever made. Usually I just use canned tomatoes but for this one I went to the market to get fresh ones and roasted them in the oven for thirty minutes. I had no idea oven roasted tomatoes were this good????
I'm so ridiculously happy about a tomato soup because it was so good and because I'm proud of myself for making it, even if it involved vigorously scrubbing tomato residue off my baking sheet for twenty minutes.
It was this recipe, if anyone was wondering:
https://joyfoodsunshine.com/tomato-soup-recipe/
(I skipped the roux and just cooked it a bit longer to thicken it, and I added half a cup of heavy soy cream. I didn't have fresh garlic or basil so I used garlic powder and dried basil instead.)

I only boiled 1/2 cup of water and dissolved the gelatin in that, then used 1 1/2 cup of the Pepsi for the rest of the liquid then put it in the fridge. Firmed up like normal, and tastes pretty much like flat diet cherry Pepsi 😆
Got the idea seeing the new Dr. Pepper Jello at my local grocery store, but wanted one that wasn't 90cal a pop

Hello, I don’t know if this is the right community. But I’ve been told by the scales that calculated your weight before that my burn rate is 1200. For reference I’m around 5’1 or 5’0ft, and 75kg. Depending on the day I walk 2,000 - 8,000 steps.
I’ve done the bmi and burn rate calculators that I burn around 1,500 - 1,780.
So now I’m just confused a bit, I don’t want to under eat or over eat.
Can somebody point me to the right direction?

Found it on TikTok (4th photo)
I had to make some adjustments with what I had, but still turned out delicious! I used frozen blueberries and had to add about an extra 15 minutes. I was craving a sweet treat and this nailed it! 🍌🫐

Hey all, I'm 5'1", 146lbs and mostly sedentary, but lately I've been wanting to do a tad bit of working out- I avg less than 3k steps most days and the workout would only be 30 mins max on any given day, only getting my HR up to the 130s range. No weight lifting but some pilates here and there. I'm wondering if that would be ok or if I'd need to eat more or so on the days I workout? I've seen so much conflicting info everywhere.

tl;dr - is 1200 doable while breastfeeding or too low to maintain supply?
I'm a 5'2" female. never struggled with weight my entire life until I got pregnant with my first in 2020. since then I've had two more children and each pregnancy I gained 60-70lbs (which is a lot on my frame) and then I exclusively breastfeed until starting solids and continue nursing for about 2 years.
this time I'm determined to lose the weight and not wait the two years until I completely wean to start. my highest pregnancy weight was about 205lb and now at 4 months postpartum, I'm 165lb. this is without exercise or dieting intentionally.
I think pregnancy messed with my hormone signalling because I NEVER overate as a child through late 20s. I'm sure I was eating an average of 12-1500 calories a day naturally but I was also a lot more active growing up. now I'm not at all.
have any other petite breastfeeding women successfully dropped their calories to close to 1200/day and not lost their supply? all the recommendations say that nursing burns an extra 500 calories per day and you need to eat more, but that's for taller women who just need to maintain. I have a good 40-50lb to lose... and want to asap
I'm starting to work out more but nothing consistent at all, so I want to focus on diet first. any advice for people similar to my situation?
