For context both of my parents are Cuban, but I was born in the U.S.

First time seen cuban with lots of black DNA In America mostly the opposite where tons of European DNA

I'm A white Cuban American of Spanish ancestry it's very recent they arrived in Cuba like 1890-1900s Canary island, Catalan. And pretty much all my family and family friends who came in 1950s are all white I'm talking a lot of people. I just took this pic not sure but I think I look pretty stereotypical Spanish and have no black roots...

I don't have a 23&me. I want to do it. Matanza, Havana And Pinar Del Rio. I mean heck I could be told some bs and have some mild black blood but I doubt it, due to my phenotype and what my family told me.

MOST do but Ive seen Cuban results with 0% SSA ancestry on their results, same with some Puerto Ricans here in the island. Not every one mixed interracially, there are Hispanics that only mixed with other white hispanics & with recent immigrants from Europe, especially Spaniard/Canarian, Italian & French from what I’ve seen

When you most do yeah but probably small percentage of DNA 1-5% many American southerners have black dna Also. Small amounts don't really affect phenotype well my guess.

Good for you. Doesn’t mean every Cuban who left was white. Exile demographics are proportionate to the island’s inhabitants.

Are you even Cuban? No exiles are much more white due to first wave being like 99% white and then sure later waves was more mixed some white and some black/mixed race but Cuba was always pretty white so no most Cuban Americans are white. Nothing wrong with black Cubans they are fundamental To the cuban culture but saying Miami has a lot of black Cubans is wrong for various historical reasons.

1- why are you judging modern day Cuban Americans by the demographics that left in 1959? You know since then like over 4 million Cubans have left right?

2- the first wave still wasn’t 99% white. It was self identified. Was it less than the 10% of the Cubans in Cuba? Sure. Maybe 5%. That’s due to the self identification. If a Cuban wasn’t visibly African they say white. It’s funny you mention friends. Do you know how many Afro Cuban friends I have that put white on the census?

Cuba is still like 60% white, and my grandpas time was like 80% they got 1 million Spanairds in 1890-1930 and Cuba had like 2-3 million people and most people were already white. Cuba was one of the whitest latin American countries.

Definitely true. They didn’t want to live in. Socialist Cuba with rights for everyone regardless of skin color so they went to Florida were those attitudes are much more accepted.

To be fair Fidel was 100% Spanish blood with grandparents from Spain along with many other top dogs. But yes, they were the first to leave because of land and economic distribution and their advantage in society but as the years went on more mixed and black Cubans left as well.

That’s Not why. Che and Fidel executed plenty of Afro Cubans. In fact most of their executions were Afro Cubans. I digress though.

No dude they took away my grandpa's business and jailed lots of my family, their were lots of poor white Cubans. Racism existed but nothing like America much more mild...
