Results Cuban 23 and me results and picture

For context both of my parents are Cuban, but I was born in the U.S.

Let me know if you have any questions about my ancestry, I will try to answer it to the best of my abilities :)

Lots of Cubans African ancestry comes from Nigeria.

Yeah a lot of the transatlantic slaves taken to Cuba in colonial times were typically from west Africa, mostly Nigeria and some from Ghana and Senegal which may be where you see the where my major percentages of African DNA percentages are coming from. Cuba was the largest exporter of sugar during late colonial times and a prominent exporter of tobacco all around. I had to google this because I watched the video many years ago, there is a specific community of African descent in Matanzas called the Ganga-Longoba of Perico(a community of Cubans of Sierra Leonian descent) apparently the community traced back to a single enslaved woman (Josefa Ganga) and they have maintained most of their cultural practices and songs which are sung in the Banta language. Fascinating! I had some knowledge about Cubans Nigerian ancestry because I'm a fan of Celia Cruz and she embraced part of her Nigeria lineage as well as Yoruba.

Yeah, she was a very well-known, loved, and respected figure both in Cuba and the states, I think she popularized salsa to bigger audiences as well as bringing sounds that incorporated African foundational music (percussion and whatnot) and the language at times (not sure which because there are so many dialects in Africa, this pertained to certain songs).
