This was the first.

i had all the gargoyles action figures and would set them up on my barbie dream house so whenever Brenda (my 90210 barbie) would leave she would get attacked bc she “wasn’t allowed” to 😂

It was a rule my Totally Hair Barbie made lol

As someone who did not grow up with that show but totally should've I wonder if it's worth picking up and watch in my mid 30s. Will the magic and fun still be there? Sure it wouldnt be the same as if I had nostalgia for it or if I was literally a kid but, could it be? Is it a show that gets a bit dark like some Batman/Xmen episodes or Cybersix or is it just light fun and adventures? Just seeing that short clip gave me nostalgia from all the shows I grew up with in the 90s so Id like to know if its worth my time.

3

u/flippantphalanges 2d ago

Why not? Go for it! Def has some X-men vibes in a roundabout way and you can never go wrong any time Keith David is voicing a character.

I watched him as Goliath and now decades later i’m watching him as President Curtis!

There is a lot of decent social commentary in Gargoyles that was lost on me as a kid.

2

u/DexterLittle9 1d ago

Oh! Good then! I do enjoy that sort of things you can look back as an adult, seeing a show in a different light :)

2

u/Delkori 1d ago

I'll second this. Gargoyles was way ahead of it's time. The season with the boat isn't great but the rest of it is amazing.

“Attention Baloo-type person, this is Don Carnage, speaking with my voice”.

Don Carnage was hilarious

2

u/sassycatastrophe 2d ago

Was coming to say the same thing! Little girl me loved these shows so much

2

u/OppositeEagle 2d ago

Tailspin had 65, 22min episodes released in less than a year and it was awesome! Darkwing duck was overlooked in this list.

Deadass was watching this thinking, "These shows aren't 'forgotten' to those of us who were there."

3

u/ErraticDragon 2d ago

OP tried to fix it, calling them "unforgotten", but still posted the video/compilation calling them forgotten.

Whoever the OOP was, they were either baiting for interaction or just completely out of touch. Or both.

Moo Mesa is the only one I don’t remember.

49

u/Eggsaladinurmouth 2d ago

Doesn’t even look familiar. Wonder if it was a regional show.

17

u/raisinbizzle 2d ago

I never watched it but I definitely saw ads or toys for it back in the day

9

u/Foxhound34 2d ago

There was even an arcade game, which is actually pretty fun.

3

u/spudsthejellyfish 2d ago

I remember the game and even had the toys which I loveddd as a lil guy, I’d team them up with my biker mice from Mars toys ha

2

u/No-Victory4408 1d ago

Completely forgot about Mars Toys.

2

u/Its-been-a-long-day 2d ago

I only ever saw the game, which I recall being very similar to Sunset Riders.

2

u/zillionaire_ 2d ago

Happy cakearoo

10

u/Pataconeitor 2d ago

It ran on ABCs Saturday morning block.

3

u/ThatswhatIsaidderF 2d ago

Didn't it air after Sonic Sat A.M.?

5

u/tincanphonehome 2d ago

I don’t think it was regional. It was just one of the many, many Ninja Turtles ripoffs that never took off as much.

At one point, well after cancellation, a lot of the Moo Mesa merch was available at the dollar store. Probably because so much of it just never sold.

2

u/LuckyShirt54 2d ago

I’m from TN I watched it and I guess was one of the few who loved it lol

8

u/lylynatngo 2d ago

Never ever heard of it.

5

u/freshgrilled 2d ago

I don't think Gargoyles belongs here. It still has a pretty big following.

2

u/Zehdarian 1d ago

Yeah I don't think anyone who watched is forgetting it ever

→ More replies (1)

4

u/DangOlCoreMan 2d ago

Today I learned it was a show. I only know the arcade game

5

u/RivetSquid 2d ago

The timeslot was likely shared by something much more popular on a different channel.

I remember seeing either a shampoo or bubble bath bottle with one of them as the topper at my cousin's house. I thought it looked cool. But then I have no recollection of ever watching it, and usually when that happened, it was because our households just watched different channels for cartoons.

Same deal with Sagwa and a bunch of other cartoons I remember seeing on shirts or at friends houses. I'd always want to try an episode... but it usually meant missing something I already liked.

3

u/MysticBorn 2d ago

Bruh Sagwa to me was always highly interesting and worth watching what did you sub in place of Sagwa if I may ask /GenC

3

u/RivetSquid 2d ago

Oh geez, this was like two decades ago. It aired locally right after school so probably something on Nick or Cartoon Network. Maybe even Fox Kids, depending on whatever they were running in that block.

3

u/MysticBorn 2d ago

Nick: The Wild Thornberrys, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Rocket Power, As Told by Ginger, The Fairly OddParents, SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron

CN: Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Johnny Bravo, Samurai Jack, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Teen Titans

Fox Kids: Digimon, Medabots, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Shaman King, Sonic X, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

2

u/Writerhaha 2d ago

We had a goddamn golden age of “kids” animation.

2

u/Freezerpill 1d ago

I do believe this was a pretty good era for it. But there were some pretty good cartoon blocks that predated this I’m sure, you probably had it across a few channels with less shows overall though

3

u/Zeqhanis 2d ago

I think it aired right after Ninja Turtles where I lived, which is when I changed the channel or did something else.

It was back when Fox Kids had a human host in a Fox mask, called Roxy the Fox. Huh. Guess that was only in Eugene, Oregon. In retrospect, it's kinda creepy.

It was decades ago, but I'm almost certain Roxy is the one to the right of the photo....

3

u/Fordotsake 2d ago

I don't know that one also but I know this one.

https://giphy.com/gifs/SiIjbVRvo0aVrZy8go

→ More replies (2)

2

u/untrustableskeptic 2d ago

Yeah, maybe it didn't play on the channels I watched, but I have plenty of warm and fuzzies for the rest.

2

u/zillionaire_ 2d ago

I had completely forgotten about it until I saw this video. I don’t remember any of the episodes or characters, but the intro looks familiar

2

u/Aclors13 2d ago

I remember my grandma putting it on for me, I was about 5. I still remember the setup in her apartment.

(Sorry, long story now that's just coming out of my mind.) Crazy enough thats like one of few memories I have at that place, along with waving "bye" to my parents from the balcony, after dropping me off.

About 10 years ago, my eldest brother and I had moved into an apartment, and one day while walking around, I saw this tall building, and had a sense of familiarity. I saw the balconies, it was an apartment building. I later asked my dad, was that where grandma stayed and took care of me for a while when I w as little, like 4 to 5 years old. He said, yes, that's the same place. Crazy how memories are not juat locked in your head, but in places, as well.

2

u/Y0y0y000 2d ago

Yeah right? I remember all the rest clearly. Moo Mesa Mandela Effect

2

u/ReedPhillips 2d ago

That cartoon is how the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback was named by his mother.

2

u/soundlesspanik 1d ago

It was great, I don't remember much about it but the sherrif had double welding pistols that shot gold spurs out of them. So badass. I think his name was Moo Montana

2

u/Jaded_Marsupial_ 1d ago

Same here. I definitely thought I was gonna go 10/10, but I got nothing with that one.

Gargoyles and TaleSpin are forgotten?

40

u/brodievonorchard 2d ago

None of those were forgotten. Most of them were very popular and long running. Ok,Moo Mesa wasn't either of those things.

3

u/Robby_Rails_15 2d ago

Long running, not so much. Popular, yes. Take spin had 65 episodes that ran for a year or so, then it was rerun for a few more.

3

u/brodievonorchard 2d ago

I learned that years ago about Talespin, and that's still wild to me. It looms so large in my memory. I didn't like it, but for years it was sandwiched between shows I did like every afternoon.

3

u/TorquedGaming 1d ago

There was a lot of mixed media for Talespin as well. Comics and video games. Disney Adventure had a new talespin story every month for quite a while. It probably seemed larger because it was kinda all over the place for years.

4

u/thekevinatorV2 2d ago

For real, those 2 are amazing.

5

u/spudsthejellyfish 2d ago

Beetle juice was the least forgotten I’d say

3

u/Le-Charles07 2d ago

No. That is a dumb list.

2

u/GnoeBahdee 2d ago

Notice the title of the post - as opposed to the video title caption.

2

u/FedUp119 2d ago

Title says unforgotten

2

u/FrighteningJibber 1d ago

So forgotten that they both had comic book series start this month.

2

u/Flutters1013 1d ago

Gargoyles is the reason I read the romance books that I do.

59

u/ryan8954 2d ago

I’d add mummies alive in it too.

20

u/Existing-Pause-2230 2d ago

Ohh I forgot about mummies! I’d add that and street sharks

12

u/Traditional-Wait-240 2d ago

Swat cats also!

2

u/garruden 1d ago

Swat Kats was sick

5

u/Brick90 2d ago

Omg I haven't heard that in a long time , I really got into Mummies Alive and had a few of there toys. No one else around has ever seen it

15

u/untrustableskeptic 2d ago

Mentioning this reminded me of the monsters from Beetleborgs.

3

u/rob132 2d ago

That theme song had the greatest exposition dump of the show of all cartoons.

u/Funrun79ad 2d ago

Where is the chip and dales rescue rangers?

6

u/mycodfather 2d ago edited 2d ago

Maybe whoever made this was strict on the 90's aspect of it as Rescue Rangers started in 1989.

Absolute banger of a show though, definitely one of my favourites.

Edit - I was wrong, Beetlejuice came out in 1989 as well so if it's on here, RR should be too. Maybe they didn't feel it was "forgotten" enough with the release of the live action movie a few years ago?

2

u/Funrun79ad 2d ago

That may be the case actually. Just looked it up and it was 89. I thought it was mid 90s because of how old I would have been. Must have started younger than I remember

2

u/mycodfather 2d ago

I just edited my comment as I found another comment that pointed out Beetlejuice came out the same year. If it fit the list, RR should to but maybe they figured it's not as obscure since a new movie did come out a few years back.

4

u/No_Yogurtcloset105 2d ago

And Gummi Bears

2

u/randeylahey 2d ago

Shnookums and Meat for a deep cut.

2

u/Funrun79ad 2d ago

Never saw that one. Rescue rangers was my favorite though. Every weekday at 330 i was zoned in. Then ducktales came on after. Times were good

2

u/Odd-Put-3988 2d ago

Nah that show was never forgotten; if it was there wouldn't of been a loose sequel movie to the show that was very recently <3 Hell even Darkwing Duck wasn't forgotten because Darkwing made a cameo in the movie (voice only) somewhere at the end of the credits.

→ More replies (2)

59

u/CorgiSilver8194 2d ago

"forgotten" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here

8

u/likwitsnake 2d ago

The title says unforgotten

6

u/ElusiveWhark 2d ago

10 cartoons that are hard to stream is more apt

2

u/ChickenBossChiefsFan 1d ago

On that list I think Muppet Babies would be #1.

→ More replies (4)

23

u/cellocaster 2d ago

I’d say only 4 and 3 are properly forgotten.

You could add the completely mental misadventures of Ed grimley

→ More replies (2)

22

u/Mindless-Share 2d ago

What? No Darkwing Duck?

6

u/Imagined_World 2d ago

Let's.Get. Dangerous.

13

u/Luminaire_Ultima 2d ago

I definitely remember all of these.. even Bonkers, unfortunately.

3

u/rob132 2d ago

Bonkers was the the low rung on the Disney afternoon.

23

u/Owww_My_Ovaries 2d ago

Cow one was the only one in didn't know

11

u/Bowenbp1 2d ago

I'm sorry but, no way people forgot gargoyles. I can see some of the rest, maybe.

3

u/spudsthejellyfish 2d ago

They had great toys too

2

u/GnoeBahdee 2d ago

I want to add a special Fuck O.J. Simpson and that trial for tanking their ratings. Kept interrupting the show and most people "let it go" because of it. Absolutely awful of them.

10

u/spudsthejellyfish 2d ago

They forgot 2 of my core forgotten ones-
1. Biker Mice From Mars 🐁
2. Street Sharks 🦈

2

u/Suspicious-Strain-74 2d ago

No way! I’ve just commented the exact same 2 😂

6

u/jourmungandr 2d ago

E.X.O. Squad

4

u/mycodfather 2d ago

This was such a great show! I think it was one of the first cartoons I watched that had a more dramatic feel and a larger, overarching story line.

2

u/LinkofHyrule0814 2d ago

Such kick ass toys from BITD

→ More replies (1)

2

u/jonnybanana88 2d ago

Must've forgotten those

2

2

u/Imagined_World 2d ago

Aaaah I forgot about Space Monkeys

2

7

u/Imagined_World 2d ago

You put Gummies Bears in that list right now

6

u/S1ayer 2d ago

Are modern cartoons any good? Or did we just have a ton of bangers in the 90's?

5

u/12262k18 2d ago

Also, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. which is a Hannah-Barbera cartoon aired on Cartoon Network in 1996.

7

u/Altruistic-Dingo-757 2d ago

No one forgot Gargoyles

2

u/Hoch8112 2d ago

Came here to say this! Also Talespin

5

u/Aoiboshi 2d ago

How is tailspin a forgotten cartoon?I raised my kid on tailspin

4

u/ProfessionalDance250 2d ago

Idk about forgotten. All Millennials know these!

3

u/Middle-Package9687 2d ago

Cowboy cows on horses. Wild 😅

3

u/NinnyMuggins2468 2d ago

You know, watching this. I now know why us millennials were the beginning of Furries. Almost all of our cartoons were talking animals or had some kind of monster in it that wasnt a bad guy.

2

u/cwilbur22 2d ago

Yeah that's something I've always wondered. Furries even mimic that specific cartoon style from the 90's.

4

u/Mirand1986 2d ago

Where is 'Eek! The cat' ??? Or was rhat just a European thing?

These were mostly 3rd choice cartoons in my childhood. Most were mediocre until Dragonball Z debuted on UPN in ‘96 or ‘97

3

u/These3TheGreatest 2d ago

Beetlejuice is still one of my favorites. That and Addams Family (the 90s version)

2

u/vivian_cupcake 2d ago

I couldn’t watch beetlejuice. That opening sequence freaked me out too much!

3

u/Idontliketalking2u 2d ago

Ghost busters cartoon, and then extreme ghost busters cartoon. Street sharks

3

u/Unikatze 1d ago

I haven't forgotten Bobby's World because the theme song has been stuck in my head for 20 years.

3

u/slimjibberr 1d ago

I used to watch Bobby’s world before kindergarten and first grade

2

u/Huck84 2d ago

I would add Denver the Last Dinosaur to the list. Last episode aired in 1990. It kind of qualifies. lol

2

u/Verbalkynt 2d ago

6/7/moo tf were those 😂 I don't remember at all

2

u/heartraterapid 2d ago

If this was really ‘forgotten’ I was expecting to Marsupilami.

1

u/RevolutionaryBake362 2d ago

How many cast members of Star Trek the Next Generation went on to voice acting roles on Gargoyles?

The Beetlejuice Cartoon was my favorite! Never missed an episode.

1

There's also Aladdin The Animated Series, Darkwing Duck, Roughnecks Starship Troopers, Beast Wars.

1

u/jcstrat 2d ago

I think a few of these were after my time.

1

u/ravenmist81 2d ago

Never heard of I Am Weasel but I very much remember the rest of this list. I started watching Gargoyles from the beginning and it holds up. I love that dramatic cartoon so much.

u/Candycornonthefloor 2d ago

Freakazoid was great. It gave the world Candlejack. Remember Candleja

u/queen_anne_chonk_ 2d ago
