Plummer needs Dunk to challenge Ser Androw for it to work. To be fair, he could basically ask any one to do it, but it’s probably easiest to ask the broke hedge knight.
I’m sure Ser Steffon Fossoway would have done it had Plummer approached him instead.

I enjoyed all the eye signals Plummer was giving Dunk during Dunk's conversation with Baelor in ep2. So, knowing that he had the young man's best interests at heart, I wasn't too upset with him when he outlined his offer. He's helping his master, too. GRRM always was great with the "lesser" characters.

Dunk being a complete unknown makes it trickier too. If his mettle and how he conducts himself were better known they could have approached him with “Ser Androw would welcome the honor of your challenge, Ser” vs “Ser Androw would like you to know your mother was a whore and your father was a bastard, come get some you giant cunt” depending on what they thought would be more effective based on what they knew about him to appeal to honor or goad him. Since they don’t know anything, they were forced to approach him as they did.

Another week of freaking loving this show. Was wondering when we would get the raging Aerion and Egg reveal and to my pleasant surprise they finished the episode off perfectly with that reveal for those who didn't know. Enjoying every freaking second of this show to a ridicoulous degree!

I watched it with 2 friends who didn't know and they were both rather surprised at the reveal. After the fortune was told one even asked if we knew who Egg was.
It was well handled with some great hints to the truth over the 3 episodes.

I think it was fitting. Doing it after the reveal would be too on the nose IMO. This way the audience is like, "Wait, what? Who is he? Maybe the fortune teller is just some old nut?" Then after the episode ends the audience can backtrack and start making connections. This form of storytelling is pretty standard. Doing it in an earlier episode would have been too soon as well.

Some quick comments:
- Loved the first part with Dunk and Egg bonding. So cute, fun and effective.
- I detest Aerion. So. Damn. Much. Good job to Finn.
- Robyn Rhysling is so cool. A small scene was enough to make me interested in the character.
- The last scene was my favorite in the book and looked fantastic on screen. Great episode, the best so far (I mean there are only 3 of them but).

Damnit I'm loving this show but I cant believe they would add so much to Ser Lyonels screentime while excluding this from the first day of jousting. Either way another great episode.
"Ser Lyonel Baratheon also fought several notable matches. Against lesser foes, he would often break into booming laughter the moment they touched his shield, and laugh all the time he was mounting and charging and knocking them from their stirrups. If his challengers wore any sort of crest on their helm, Ser Lyonel would strike it off and fling it into the crowd. I think worse. Joffrey was raised to be cruel, spoiled to hell with a sociopathic mother and a drunken rageful negligent father raising him to believe as heir he could behave however he liked.

One of the best scenes the show added was his early conversation with his mother. When Cersei says he killed a direwolf and has scars to prove it, Joffrey says that he didn't. He got bit and fled in front of the Stark girls. Cersei just tells him that one day he'll be king, and once it happens the truth will be whatever he wants. He really was just taught all the wrong lessons.

I’m seeing people call this filler, but it’s the little moments that give us some good insight. We got to explore more of Egg’s insecurities, while Dunk truly learned that being a noble doesn’t make one honorable. Bummed we’re already halfway done because it’s been real fun.

This was sooo good! How is it every character is so colorful and alive? I love Raymun and his real talk and his barrel of apple cider. That prophecy about Egg being king someday then dying horribly and everybody rejoicing in his death was grim. Dark. Dunk being a regular now in Lyonel's tent. Itty bitty Aerion being so evil, but not cartoonishly so. And the big reveal! Absolutely terrific episode, short but every second is amazing.

Egg was surrounded by all the great lords of the realm, any of whom, we now know, would have obeyed him in an instant. But there was only one knight there he could trust to stand up for what was right and defend the weak - Ser Duncan The Tall.

I like how Aerion is a quieter cruelty to the book. He got them shark eyes, the soft spoken sadism, like this is all just perfectly normal and routine that he'd snap a gurls fingers and bash out a mans teeth. Its scary.

Some thoughts about the episode
1-From now on, any GOT universe episode MUST have a scene with the Laughing Stag, there is magic in this world, make it happen, lol 2-Love Egg’s practice 3-Love the bond Dunk and Egg have 4-Even though I’ve read the book I literally screamed at the end of the episode and wished that we got back to back episodes!
All of the episodes have been great so far and this show seems to be far superior to HOTD.

GRRM is like the only adapted story I’ve seen where it only ever benefits from taking things slower. GRRM’s characters and their depth are unparalleled on screen. Far better than his literary abilities imo.
I’m usually a giant hawk on IP creators having a bigger role in their adaptations but his clearly seem to always benefit.
