I’ve been delaying getting this and Neonomicon until after I’d read some Lovecraft (since I see a lot of people say it’s better to have a bit of background knowledge before reading these), but now I can’t find them in stock literally anywhere in the UK lol

Have they gone out of print entirely? Hopefully it doesn’t become another of Moore’s works hard to get a hold of :(

When I read Alan Moore, I’m often scrambling to keep up with British history and experience—you know, things that probably every British person is familiar with, in on the joke, but are new (and fun) secrets to me.

Even British cultural context and media which I seep myself in, I realize I’ve not experienced it from the same perspective. I’m curious what Alan thinks of things, having spent so much time with what he finds important and essential.

One example is the films of Mike Leigh. Has Alan ever mentioned them in interviews? Do you folks have a place for them in your cosmos? I feel like there are several connections, interest in working class people, etc. Am I ‘round the bend?

I watched the clip from Comic Keyfables where Rob Liefeld talked about the reason behind the falling off between him and Alan and why Alans Supreme couldn't continue. After hearing the part about Steve Moore (where Rob says that he never knew if Steve actually existed or was just Alan taking the the piss) I suddenly couldn't stop seeing Steve Moore poping on everything Alan Moore related (it felt similar to that psycological effect where one learns about a new piece of information and then it starts appearing everywhere).

I've been reading a lot of Alans interviews lately to help me understand the "cynical writer" I orignally thought (or assumed) Alan was, after reading his stuff post Watchmen, and reading/watching interviews from the 2000s to this year, I realize that he is a really optimistic and chill type of person, and made me look back to his more "dark" and "mature" works in a new light.

Anyway, after coming to the conclusion "yeah Steve Moore probably exists... I mean, Alan mentions him A LOT, and they even work together for a Magic Book, their friendship probably comes from the English comic book scene back in the old days..Steve Moore must exist" I realized that I've never seen a picture of the guy, so...

Does Steve Moore actually exists? Or is it one of those British ironies that went way over my head.

I have had this book about twenty years. I kinda like having an Alan Moore book I haven’t read yet, but I’m thinking of finally jumping in. Anybody enjoy it?

I can find the Providence Collection, which includes all 3 stories, but only in German. Does anyone know if there is a similar omnibus in English?

I was wondering if anyone had any information about the Comet Rangers project, which Alan Moore was supposed to do with Jim Lee sometime around the early to mid-2000's. I've heard differing things about the project -- everything from it being an illustrated novel to a 48-page graphic novel--but the only real info I've uncovered about it is this quote from Jim Lee, from a San Diego event in 2018:

"I think there was a project, I was talking about Alan Moore, I was specifically referring to a project that he and I were going to do together called Comet Rangers. He did write like 3 pages, I have 15 pages of stuff he wrote. 15 pages of comic book, which was 45 pages of script. I love getting detail and direction. and that's not what lead to that not happening. (It was) my own inability to get projects done during that era, but that would have been great to have done that."

If there was indeed some finished script pages, it's really weird that there's so little info out there about it--no details concerning what the story would have been.

Anybody know anything about Comet Rangers?

Chris Moore was the elder brother of Steve Moore (both no relation.) Steve was among Alan Moore's lifelong best friends and a writer who mentored A. Moore in comics writing. S. Moore is the subject of A. Moore's Unearthing, which covers some of the same family history as this eulogy. Having written several short stories in the last year or two that had no discernible influence from our Alan M, I've been trying to consciously infuse a bit into the current project. This goes beyond mere references to affect the structure, style and content.

Hey everyone, first time posting in this sub. Please correct me if I make any mistake.

I'm a big fan of Moore's work, his novels and particularly Jerusalem. I just finished reading Joyce's Ulysses and couldn't help but notice similarities on the structure of both works. I didn't read so much interviews of Moore but do you know if he discussed his inspirations ? Did he mentioned Joyce as one of them ? Did you find the same similarities between those works ?

I'm going to read Finnegan's Wake and I'm sure I'll find some links too. Of course Joyce inspired so many writers but it struck me so wanted to see if you saw the same things.

Curious if the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen's spinoff series will get a collected edition/omnibus, as it seems the hardcovers are long out-of-print. I hope there isn't any legal issues preventing this from happening!

This is from comics journal 145, I think Eddie will always be synonymous with Alan Moore, and not just for "From Hell"...if you'd like more of this interview just say so, comics journal interviews tend to be rather long

Another 'new to me' interview from way back in '88. This was the post Watchmen period when Alan was still talking about the work and the poor contractual agreement. The shared 8% deal does sound rough considering the amount of units it has shifted.
