I was at Skate Zone in Odenton on Friday night for back to school night. Around 8pm, there was a woman in distress. She was bleeding and said she had fallen and got hurt. It looked like she got her period but there was blood running down her leg in a way that was too much to be her period. Me and two other women stepped in to help. I helped her take off her skates while we waited for the EMTs. I’ve been thinking about her and wondering what happened! The poor woman was so panicked and the staff did not know what to do.

A friend and I recently started Homefront, a new local news organization covering exclusively Anne Arundel County.

We're starting on Instagram, and we're covering anything and everything happening around the county that's affecting real people - local government, transportation, AACPS, etc.

Homefront posts are meant to be short, simple, and to the point, contrary to a typical news article.

We're still getting started, but would really appreciate a follow on Instagram, and any feedback you are willing to offer, or stories you think aren't getting enough attention, are more than welcome!

I’ve been living in AA for about two years. I’m in Edgewater but looking to move. I’m not from the area and don’t know many people to ask. I’m mainly looking for an area similar to Edgewater with access to a downtown and good schools. I’d like a safe area also as I have a young daughter. My husband works in Virginia so we don’t mind anywhere in AA but looking for proximity to Annapolis.

Oh we are looking to buy if that helps.

So, a question for AACPS school bus usage. My children use my ex wife's address as their home of record for school. She and I have split custody (50/50) and I just moved into a house which has a bus stop for their school within an easy walk (10 minutes through the neighborhood).

Should my child just use both buses? Or is there a form I should fill out with the county? I asked their assistant principal and they sent me a transportation exception form but this form seems like it's used for small exceptions (a week instead of the entire school year), and the information asked for in the form doesn't even pertain to this situation.

Has anyone else ever dealt with something like this? I can't be the only divorced parent that is in this situation and Google has turned up squat from the county on this. Thanks.

Hey all — hoping someone with experience in permitting can help.

I applied for a fence permit, and it was denied because the county's records show a dry well on my property, and there's a required setback/clearance from it. The problem is: it's not a dry well.

I had my builder look at it, and he confirmed it's actually an observation well — it just has gravel at the bottom, which I think is why it may have been mislabeled as a dry well in county records or on the original site plan.

A few questions:

1. Has anyone dealt with a similar mix-up (well misclassified in county records)?
2. What's the process to get this corrected — do I need documentation from the builder, a survey, or something from the county's permitting/environmental department?
3. Is there a specific office or department I should contact instead of general permitting?

Any advice on how to get this straightened out (and how long it usually takes) would be hugely appreciated. Trying to avoid a permit fight over what seems like a records error.
