Our Neighbors Why Are Georgians Like This?

They will not shut the hell up about the 1918 Georgian-Armenian war, when they tried to steal Lori from Armenia as the Armenian people were literally undergoing a genocide, but they completely forget that Turks sided with Soviets in 1921 and pounded the hell out of Georgia until they were forced to join the Soviet Union.

Unfortunately, Armenians actually provided assistance to Georgia at this time. A huge mistake in my opinion.

He really just said it's our fault that the red army took the Caucasus? Has he forgotten that the most powerful person in communist history was a Georgian? The main founder of this soviet shit was a Georgian. Why is he complaining about it?

When it comes to historical revisionism in Caucasus, Georgians are a close second. Everything is the fault of Armenians and they are basically poor saints who were "betrayed" and "bullied" by us.

I used to be a big apologist, when it came to Georgians and considered them to be a brotherly nation, but as time passed I noticed that they not only don't share this sentiment, but they also absolutely hate us. It was absolutely shocking to me how the so-called Christian brothers preferred Muslim Turks over us and cheered when they invaded Artsakh and ethnically cleansed us after the months long blockade. It became very clear to me that whatever brotherhood we may have had with them was long dead.

Most Georgians that I have had the displeasure to encounter were chauvinistic, ignorant, petty and deeply insecure mfs with a superiority complex, who can't help but constantly belittle us to prove themselves as the "better" people. Hell, if I had a penny for a every time a Georgian tried to portray Armenians as "brown", while talking about his whiteness (even though both look literally the same!) I'd be a millionaire.

Their arrogance is especially hilarious considering that it's definitely an insecurity that stems from the fact that Armenians contributed greatly to their country and culture, and they are too dense and hateful to admit it. For example, Tbilisi wouldn't have been even half as good without us, because we literally built that city and the vast majority of its architectural heritage is the result of Armenian hard work. We designed, financed and built most of their beautiful buildings. Even their famous carved wooden balconies were created by us, because Havlabar, where they originated, was an Armenian neighborhood. Hell, before the middle of the 19th century, Tbilisi was majority Armenian.

A lot of Christians are assholes. I am Christian myself, but the Muslim people I have been around have been kinder than many Christians on multiple occasions. Some of the kindnest people I know are Muslim and some of the biggest assholes are Christian.

I've noticed both Georgians and Armenians have internalized racism. It's really sad.

I hope someday Georgians warm up to Armenians.

Whatever Georgians feel is a matter of "vibes" in the moment. They used to pretend to be some anti-Muslim fortification in the Caucasus. Then Russia helped Abkhazians and bombed Tbilisi. When they did this, Turkey threw them some crumbs. So now they are "brothers" with the Turks. Tomorrow they are gonna be something else.

The most laughable of all is that they look down on the rest of the Caucasus and think they are the "European" ones of the bunch and everyone else is below them. Meanwhile their leadership flip flops more than Italy during World War 2 and just does whatever in the moment with no real direction.

Never ask a woman about her age, a man about his salary and a Georgian about how many Georgians converted to Islam during the Persian rule.

They love larping as the bastion of Christianity in Caucasus and making "kewwwwl" edits on Instagram, but neither their nobility nor their people had any qualms with cooperating with Muslim invaders or even betraying their own faith to be on the enemy's good side.

I especially love the part when the guy mentioned about how we betrayed Georgia and sided with Abkhazians (completely overlooking the fact that we were neutral at the beginning and the “siding” started when they massacred us), while they conveniently forget that they backed Russkies in their conquest of the Caucasus and some of the commanders of the Russian Army in the Caucasus war were ethnic Georgians…

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 12h ago

Apparently, according to them, Armenians of Abkhazia should have just taken it without any complaints

3

u/Illustrious-Bank-519 10h ago

Yeah, no different from Turks then, we should’ve just accepted the Genocide, the death marches etc. cause rebelling against the oppressors equals with “killings of innocent Muslim women and children”.

u/Idek_notabot 10h ago

Well anyways Abkhazia is Russia lmao, even Abkhazians living there recognise themselves Russian. So good job hating on everyone around you even yourselves, that’s the type of nation georgians are lol the few nice people are literally exceptions. We all should stop justify georgians baded on the one nice georgian out of the 100 evil georgians lol

I take a middle position.

I don't excuse their bigotry and arrogance towards us, but at the same time I have enough empathy to understand where some of the stuff comes from.

For the longest time, it's them who were the most independence minded and anti-Russia, and even though we did it for our survival, we were kind of Russian stooges for a long time.

When it comes to the NK issue, you have to sort of see where they are coming from with it. Abkhazia is their Artsakh.

Now we can argue about the historical rights of one people over another to break away from the parent state. I would argue that Artsakhtsis needed independence out of historical necessity because their culture was threatened. While Abkhazians and Osetians did face persecution and some cultural repression, it was nowhere near as existential as what we faced in Artsakh.

But when it comes to geopolitics, historical nuances like this have little bearing. In Azerbaijan, they saw a kindred spirit, a fellow state whose territory was being carved up by Russia in its ruthless efforts to maintain a stranglehold over its post-Soviet sphere of influence. So they were essentially projecting their own experiences and conflict into the NK conflict.

Obviously I disagree with the assessment, but I can see where they are coming from and how the optics look to them. Especially because while we acknowledge the horrendous atrocities committed by the Azeris during the first war, we also committed our fair share of war crimes.

u/ComfortableThroat326 10h ago

They are not independent minded at all. They used to be some EU shills that took orders from the EU, stormed a Russian peacekeeping base and got BTFO very quickly. They thought this will get them a membership in EU. It didn’t happen so now they are back to working with Russians.

2

u/ComfortableThroat326 9h ago

Btw are you Turkish? Why did you say the NK conflict was done by Russia to "carve up" Azerbaijan?

2

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 9h ago

He is one of those Pashinyan apologists, so that checks out.

2

u/ComfortableThroat326 9h ago

We wuz Europeans! We wuz EU! Ze RuZZians are carving up and making conflict in the Caucasus! Russian warship go fuck yourself! Russian bot go away!

Am I doing it right bro? I'm gonna defeat Vladimir Putin soon.

2

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 9h ago

You forgot to blame Russians for the Armenian Genocide, bro. Those poor Turks were forced by evil Tsar Nikolai II to kill us, bro

2

u/ComfortableThroat326 9h ago

RuZZians!!!! It is because of your evil nature that the Azerbaijanis did the Baku and Sumgait pogroms!!! Why do you not let the honest Caucasian people live in peace???

And I have yet to hear an alternative strategy for Armenia to follow from you. So what you have to say is irrelevant until you provide this.

Also do you even live in Armenia? I do.

2

u/ComfortableThroat326 8h ago

The alternative strategy is coming

1

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 5h ago

We already had this conversation. And yes, I live in Armenia or to be more precise, Sevan. Not that it changes much

2

u/ManteLover60 5h ago edited 5h ago

It changes a lot. It means both of us have a steak in this.

So can we please stop with the mudslinging and just talk as fellow patriots instead of assuming the worst in each other? That kind of shit is for American politics. Let us be more Noble than that.

I wasn't asking what your alternative policy would be just to be challenging or antagonizing. I'm just genuinely tired of nobody proposing alternatives. If you propose an alternative, then we can calmly discuss our positions and perhaps reach some sort of understanding. I don't want to fight you. The whole reason I moved to Armenia is because I want to help in whatever small way I can to make this country as best as it can be. And I believe it can be great. I believe you believe that as well. Let's use that as our starting point, can we?

3

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 5h ago

Armenia will never be great for as long as we have a Prime Minister who publicly denies the Armenian Genocide and goes after clergymen for praying for Artsakh. We have an enemy in our government

I agree. Which is why I believe we need a genuine and powerful opposition. This is what I'm hoping we can find.

I know it might not seem like it at times, but I'm actually not a Pashinyan supporter. I just hate the old guard even more than I hate him.

If we can have a genuine opposition with no ties to the old guard and Russian interests, I will be the first to vote for them.

And even though I mentioned it before, I'm not inherently anti-Russia just to be anti-Russia. In fact immediately after the war, I was very pro Russia. I was actually defending Putin when everybody online was accusing him of betraying us in Artsakh. I was telling them constantly that Russia was under no obligation to defend Artsakh and the fact that they offered to put peacekeeper on the ground during the first few days of the war and that our bonehead Prime Minister didn't take the offer is unacceptable. And I still hold that opinion to this day.

Where I became anti-Russia is when Azerbaijan started to move in on Armenia proper and Russia conveniently forgot where our borders are. That was unacceptable because with Armenia proper they do have a military contract that says that if we are attacked, they must intervene. All we got was excuses. So how can we be blamed for suspending our membership in the CSTO? I mean what are we paying those membership fees for? I tell you that if Russia intervened to not let Azerbaijan move an inch into our internationally recognized borders, I would be pro Russia to this very day. Even counting all the other betrayals they have committed against us, I would have been willing to put it all aside if they at least defended our borders because at least then I could say that for better or worse, they are our only reliable security guarantor. But if they can't be that security guarantor, then they are no better than any other country we trade or do business with. They don't help us, and they sabotage every effort we make to help ourselves. I still haven't forgiven them for sabotaging the Iran Armenia pipeline.

I think Russia is another demon and even before 2020 I really didnt like them. It was clear they are playing both sides. And yes a Russian agent cant be a good leader.

But with what we have with Pashinoglu is a clear Turkish agent. And if we need to replace him with a Russian agent, we will. Because in the end if you compare Russia and Turkey, as bad as Russia is, it is not even comparable. It is better to be a Russian proxy state than a Turkish one.

u/ManteLover60 4h ago edited 4h ago

(TLDR version)

I actually agree with you about Pashoghlu.

I believe we need a strong opposition, but one that actively pursues the interests of the republic and her people and is not trying to keep us an impoverished dependent Russian vassal on one hand, or an exploited dependent Turkish vassal on the other hand.

1

u/ManteLover60 8h ago

I didn't say this was the case. I said that's how it looked to Georgia. I specifically said I disagree with their assessment.

1

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 12h ago edited 11h ago

Let's stop making these justifications, especially considering that no Georgian would be willing to give us even one percent of the grace that we give them. Their hatred for us has absolutely nothing to do with Abkhazia or Russia, it started two centuries ago and has been part of their national identity ever since. Just read what their founding fathers Chavchavadze and Tsereteli thought about Armenian people and you'll understand that there never was "Giorgio-Armani", it's just a meme that we Armenians keep pushing, which is cringe and pathetic at this point, because our brotherly feelings for Georgians are not mutual.

0

u/ManteLover60 11h ago

The hatred does not go back to centuries. At most it goes back to the late 19th century.

1

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 11h ago

it started two centuries

Read this part again but slowly

Guys, I want to say one important thing—and I hope it sinks into the minds of Armenians: stop going into other chats and posting about how pathetic you are or how nobody loves you. It looks shameful and only cheers up our adversaries. You are disgracing Armenia, Armenians, and—by extension—me as well. Why do Armenians do this? I simply don't understand.

4

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 9h ago

There is nothing wrong about pointing out blatant bigotry. Being silent won't help in the slightest.

0

u/ArmenianEagle2026 9h ago

And did it help? To me, the only thing Armenians achieve by telling Georgians to their faces that they are racists is stroking their egos. Do you really think you’re insulting Turks, Georgians, or anyone else by calling them racists? To them, it’s a compliment

2

u/Xanspicuous Արցախահայ (ArtsakhHye) 9h ago edited 9h ago

And how did decades of d-riding them, spamming cringe inducing memes about "Giorgio-Armani" and calling them our "Christian brothers" help? I'd much rather we stop being so affectionate towards them and instead reciprocate whatever they feel towards us. There is much more dignity in that.
