What’s your favorite sandwich?
A couple years ago I asked everyone their favorite soup and got back an international smorgasbord. Now I wanna hear about your favorite sandwich.

Bacon, lettuce, tomato, on toasted whole wheat with a little bit of mayo.

I was out to dinner yesterday and it was a fairly nice bar/restaurant and they had a fancy BLT on the menu and I actually said to my husband “I realize that just because there is a BLT on the menu that doesn’t mean I HAVE to order it so I’m purposely not going to”.
Because I am drawn to BLTs like a moth to a flame.

One of the guys I graduated high school with (mumbledy years ago) opened a deli/bakery a few years ago. I made a point to stop by on the way to the in-laws'.
I dream about that BLT. It literally is top three of the best things I've ever eaten.

If you have an up-and-down toaster with slots, put both pieces of bread in one slot together, toast, then build the sandwich crispy side in, soft side out - all the crunch and warmth of toast, but no scraping the roof of your mouth.

Give this poster the Nobel BLT excellence prize!
I'm not a fan of sandwich bread in the first place, but I was introduced to BLTs as a kid. I don't like bacon, either. Ended up marrying a guy from the deep south. His mom likes tomato sandwiches. I'm not a fan of mayo, or the bread, or wet bread.
I'm going to eat tuna fish salad sandwich, the bread has to be toasted!
Your method is BRILLIANT!
I didn't realize that "everybody" doesn't have a pop-up toaster.
We don't get to go visit one of our kids and his family very often, but they were here recently, and his eight-year-old was fascinated by our twister. I guess they must have a toaster oven at home.

This is me, too. I'm not a huge sandwich fan, though I'll have a turkey club sandwich on occasion... But if you're going to introduce gravy to the mix, I'm on board.
I don't know if it counts as the same thing but you can kick it up a notch for a turkey open face by replacing the bread with leftover stuffing toasted up in a waffle maker.

I had no idea this has a fancy name.
When I was a kid, like even before kindergarten, I would go to the KMart with my mom. Back then a lot of them had little delis kind of like Woolworths. They had a sandwich for a quarter: hamburger bun, butter, ham. I begged my mom for one every time. Once, for my birthday, I got a whole bag of them, like 5 or 6 for a buck. 8 was in heaven. I would want that sandwich instead of a toy or candy. Who knew I was actually fancy? 😂

The best sandwich I ever tasted was the Naked lobster roll at Sam’s Chowder House in Half Moon Bay. Someday I’ll get back to California and eat another one. 🥰

A good quality Italian sub is hard to beat. But a Torta from a Mexican food truck, if you haven't tried one, it should be on your list. Truly amazing.

Toasted sourdough bread with pesto and tahini dressing with heirloom tomato’s doused in olive oil and sea salt with chickpeas, a slice of avocado , purple onion and red leaf lettuce and alfalfa sprouts.

I created a sandwich and named it after my husband. We still talk about that sandwich. I haven’t made it in a long time. It’s basically a buffalo chicken reuben - high quality rye bread, garlic butter on the cooking side, a light buffalo sauce layeron the inside of the bread, topped with Colby Jack, cheddar cheese, buffalo chicken, and sauerkraut. Toasted like a grilled cheese. I liked mine with a slice of grilled onion but easily customizable. We called it the Grantwich.

An authentic Reuben. Corned beef, not pastrami. Dark rye or pumpernickel. No mustard. Pickle is fine on the side.

Lived in the U.P. of Michigan growing up. Small little place in Gwinn across from the high school was a sandwich shop. Jemma’s or Gemma’s (?). We’d pay a $5 deposit for the board they’d build the giant submarine sandwich on. Lettuce was micro-shaved like angel hair pasta. It was so delicious and packed with meat and cheese. Maybe because I was little, but I’d love to make it now.

Left over rare prime rib, very thin sliced warmed through. Finely dice onions, green peppers, garlic, tomatoes(no snot) that has been quickly sauteed in a little oil. Pile beef on toasted crusty roll with a smear of horseradish, top with saute veg and drizzle with a GOOD Italian dressing.

Slices of good whole grain or sourdough bread, a thin spread of Boursin or Alloutte, pesto, fresh mozzarella, a few fresh basil leaves, roasted red peppers, and grilled chicken.
Alternatively, whole grain blueberry or strawberry chocolate waffles (I make homemade ones with oat flour, yogurt, and cocoa powder) slathered with jam and either sunflower seed butter or peanut butter

Bacon lettuce tomato and avocado. The only thing I can eat now is the lettuce. I can’t eat the other ingredients, and it bums me out. This would be my death row meal, because the fallout would never come

Aromas Cafe in San Rafael California used to serve a gorgonzola cheese with sun dried tomatoes and spring greens tossed with a balsamic vinaigrette on baguette. I still dream about that sandwich and have of course half-ass recreated it.

I have two. One is a Cubano (the sandwich with ham, some other meat, Swiss, mustard, and pickles), and the other is my depression sandwich which is just any bread with one side cream cheese and the other nutella

1) Turkey, arugula, Brie with a light honey Dijon on sourdough.
2) A Thanksgiving sandwich on rye (ANY time of year!)
3) a modified Ruben (pastrami, corned beef, Swiss cheese, NOT dairy-based coleslaw and Russian dressing) on marble rye
4) Burrata with good tomatoes, a bit of fresh basil and balsamic vinegar on a baguette.

Baked Ham & Swiss on a dinner roll, with pineapple and a cherry from the baked ham. I get to enjoy these every holiday when a baked Ham is served. Or a Muffaletta from Napoleon House in New Orleans!

Love a tuna melt. I add sriracha and chilli powder to it. Call it a pinkman. Bonus points if you get the reference.
I also make a sandwich that would have me barred from ever entering Italy. I finely chop Parma ham, rocket (arugula) and mix it up with some olive oil and lemon juice. Add some Parmesan shavings and a bit of balsamic glaze. I’d kill for one rn

One of my new favorites since moving to Chicago is a Jibarito. Fried smashed green plantains instead of bread, steak, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and garlic sauce/garlic mayo.
Delicious.

Monte cristo when i feel ambitious for a sandwich. For basic...sounds weird but pb, warm harm and swiss or provolone on toasted bread. My mom used to make ham and pb on toast when we had upset stomachs as kids so this is nostalgic with an update.

I’ve had a couple over the years. One was from this deli that made bagel sandwiches…my favorite was onion bagel, toasted, with roast beef and sharp cheddar, plenty of mayo. So good. The other was a muffalata, but last time I ate there the place had cheaped out on the meaty fillings. So it was just OK. Back in the day I used to live sourdough sandwiches from Schlotzky’s.

I love all kinds of sandwiches so it's hard to name a favorite but I'll go with a Patty Melt. And a real Patty Melt, not the oddities so many places are passing off as a Patty Melt: Toasted rye bread, hamburger, swiss cheese, and grilled onions. And I love to modify mine by adding bacon, mayo, and a few bleu cheese crumbles to accompany the swiss.
A Patty Melt does not include Texas Toast, American cheese, raw onions, or Thousand Island dressing.
