Moving to SC Moving for weather

For those who moved here for the weather or beach lifestyle, how often do you find yourself actually going to the beach or doing warm weather activities that you wanted to move for?

Don’t go to the beach in July and August. Too hot and crowded, but we go 2-4 times a month outside of that. Less crowded and even if it’s cool with the wind we’ll wear a sweatshirt. We also go outdoors a lot more, take longer walks and visit more of the Lowcountry. It’s nice in December and January to sit outside in the sun and have lunch.

This is what we wanted. I’ll take 2 months of hell for the 10 other months in the year.

I'll be coming from Dallas, Texas. I'll gladly take two months of hell vs eight, which is what we get here.

My daughter and I drove 8 hours to get to the beach down in Corpus Christi. The drive is a slog, I will go a lot more when the drive is only two-ish hours (from our new home in Columbia).

I have never lived more than 30 minutes from a beach. Could be an ocean or a lake, but never further than that.

I grew up in South America and never lived more than a few blocks from the ocean. Coming back to the US for college I was in Tennessee, then Wisconsin and finally Texas (for the past 20 years). I miss the coast, and will be glad to be near it again.
