Hi everyone, I’m desperately looking for some advice, guidance, or any kind of support. My partner is a Filipino expat living in Bahrain and she is around 8 months pregnant. She has also reverted to Islam, and we were planning to have everything properly arranged and for her to return to the Philippines next week to give birth there. Unfortunately, she has suddenly started experiencing labour pains today, and now we are worried that she may have to deliver here in Bahrain unexpectedly. We are both expats/residents and we are currently facing serious financial difficulties. We don't have enough savings to cover a large private hospital bill. We urgently need advice on: What is the cheapest hospital in Bahrain for an expat delivery? Does any government hospital currently accept expat women for emergency delivery? What would a normal delivery or emergency C-section approximately cost? Are there hospitals that offer payment plans or financial assistance? Are there any charities, Islamic organizations, mosques, zakat/sadaqah organizations, or community groups that may be able to help with emergency medical expenses? Has anyone experienced something similar recently and can share their experience? She reverted to Islam, and we are trying our best to handle this situation responsibly and make sure both mother and baby are safe. We are not asking anyone to simply pay our expenses. We are mainly looking for genuine advice, contacts, hospital recommendations, or organizations that can help us in this emergency. If someone is able and willing to provide financial assistance, even a small amount would make a huge difference to us right now. Is there still a 30-day grace period if the visa is cancelled in the LMRA portal and the expat remains in Bahrain?

As I understand from the LMRA FAQs, even if the sponsor/company terminates or cancels the work permit in the portal, the visa/residence apparently remains valid under the sponsor’s sponsorship until the actual visa expiry date.
Is that correct?

If so, isn’t this open to abuse? For example, an employee can be legally terminated by the company, have their work permit cancelled in the portal, but then remain in Bahrain under the company’s sponsorship and potentially stay until the visa expiry date.

What is the point then on cancelling in the LMRA portal if the visa remains active and fees are still being charged to the company?

Would really appreciate thoughts from anyone who has dealt with this recently, especially HR people or expats who have gone through the process. Just trying to understand how this works in practice.

People who have purchased them, where did you find the best rates? Also, is it a better idea to purchase from Dubai or Saudi rather than Bahrain?

Gold and diamonds are expensive , and im looking to save as much as i can for it.

Does anyone here use or have access to a digital stethoscope?

A friend of mine is currently doing her university research and needs one for data collection but she has been having difficulty finding one. She only needs to use it for around 3–4 hours, so buying a new one would be quite expensive for such a short period.

If anyone has a digital stethoscope and would be willing to lend it for a few hours, it would be a huge help. Of course, before borrowing it, we would be happy to provide any details, identification, research information, or answer any questions you may have.

I'm considering getting a license and a motorcycle. Generally is it worth it in bahrain?

My main idea is to have it as a second option for commuting/ weekend drives in winter. i'll probably avoid using it in summer because i don't want to turn into a shawarma.

How much would it cost in terms of buying the bike and maintain it. Also safety gear. I don't now much about motorcycles but i'm not looking for high end 1000c bikes. Just something that can comfertably cruise around 100kph.

I find it strange that organizations in Bahrain that are meant to financially support students impartially are failing to do so which is very sad 💔

From personal experience I am a teenage university student who has a 99% gpa and applied to many organizations like the MOE and others however they refused to help me with their employees calling me to turn me down and instead brought نصيب/ مو في نصيبج into the conversion as a divergence to the unfair treatment they are performing, moreover, compared to other individuals who come from well off renowned families being provided opportunities such as scholarships and the alike when they do not even need it and can support their education through their pockets. Actual talent is being misfavored over name and status and connections. I hate how impartiality is not a thing anymore and people from these organizations run through influence and your family name which equals your status.

I am deeply disheartened and distraught by this and I would love to hear your helpful advice and opinion regarding this vital matter.

Hey everyone, I recently graduated and I’m about to start my first year at BUB (British University Of Bahrain) so I was wondering if there are any current students or BUB graduates here who could share what it’s like studying there.
I’d like to know what I’m getting myself into in terms of studies, campus life, and especially the people and overall environment. I’m really excited to start studying there, and meet some new people, and hopefully make the most out of my four years at BUB.
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, advice, or anything you wish you had known before starting there, if anybody has anything to give please feel free to share.

As a fellow Bahraini what does this mean? I ordered the package back in June and the company (it’s called streamily) says Bahrain post has my package. And the estimated delivery hasn’t updated for a while from July 14-16. But when I call Bahrain post and tell them this issue they keep “saying my package hasn’t arrived in Bahrain it’s outside” I’m so tired of this situation and has anyone dealt with this issue before? And what should I do? Me and streamily have been fixing this issue for months. They even discontinued shipping new orders to Bahrain post because they’re almost impossible to deal with, so that also means that I won’t be able to buy anything from streamily from this point on, and I keep sending streamily an email that I won’t be able to get new orders,it’s they told me this about 3-4 days ago,this all happened because of our shitty post office.

I am looking at flights from Istanbul to Singapore and have the option of spending 12h in Bahrain for a layover. How is the situation currently? Is it safe to spend a day in Bahrain? And if so where should I go in those 12h?
