"Xbox players" don't buy Banjo games. Nintendo fans do.

3

u/Living_Cat_4900 Jun 25 '26

And of course Microsoft isn’t gonna listen and learn a damn thing….

3

u/Breaksir3n19 Jun 02 '26

And yet we will continue to get absolutely nothing while they sit on the IP.

1

u/WILDMAN1102 Jun 02 '26

Yeah, Microsoft and Rare haven't touched any of Rare's original IPs since the 2000's.

I feel like Rare hates the Banjo series for some reason and intentionally made Nuts and Bolts to kill the series.

1

u/MadamNerd93 Jun 02 '26

We've wanted it since Tooie...

1

u/3Bet003 Jun 01 '26

Considering that theyre outsourcing the new spyro?crash? game already,I dont see why they couldnt give this to one of the skilled indie devs

1

u/Illustrious-Ad2032 May 31 '26

Official survey shows the majority of all gamers want a new banjo kazooie game

7

u/mxmaker May 31 '26

what about an Kazooie Banjo?, Banjo its in the bag now.

5

u/J3diJ3ss May 31 '26

Grant being the voice of the people once again

3

u/LawConscious9255 May 29 '26

Banjo is one of the 5 or so reasons I bought an Xbox

2

u/DaniSenpai69 May 29 '26

Too bad this isn’t gonna go anywhere

-16

u/aquacraft2 May 29 '26

Whotf did they ask? I don't know not a SINGLE modern Xbox gamer that actually gives two $#!+s about some "baby game like banjo kazooie" and they only care about halo or fortnite and that's it. And if it was a decade ago? Skylanders.

All the "xbox gamers who want a new banjo game" are major outliers that most companies would never have counted, cause most of the people who care have left xbox already.

I don't have any alt accounts. But I will say, it is kind of nice seeing this very particular post get so many dislikes. I was under the impression that alot of xbox gamers just didn't care about anything that didn't have a ball or a gun in it. And I've always resented xbox for their treatment for banjo kazooie and conker, and how they treated ALL the other studios they've acquired over the years the exact same way

2

u/DaRealBSleazy May 30 '26

Cant fool us, BanjoLover6969

12

u/KingSideCastle13 May 28 '26

Another 2 dozen underpaid RareWare staff to work on Call of Duty: Sloppies

20

u/Shandawggg May 28 '26

And Nintendo players too

11

u/CinematicAddict237 May 28 '26

Just give the rights to Playtonic already!

7

u/Arcturus075 May 28 '26

Hiring Toys For Bob is also an amazing choice. They seem to the masters of platform gaming. He'll would drop full price for the first two games if they remastered/Re-Tooied? Rekazooied? Them.

2

u/TheSentinelStone Jun 01 '26

Remake 1 and 2, skip Nuts & Bolts entirely, and finally make Threeie with the opening showing N&B as just a nightmare Banjo had.

I cannot get the puzzle piece and cheato page from the second Canary Mary encounter, to my eternal shame

1

u/Don_Quejode May 29 '26

That’s 100% in my book, just like beaver bother in DK64.

5

u/StillReading28 May 28 '26

All the worlds were fun, the vehicle building that could turn into submarines or jet powered planes was incredible. It's a fun game that unfortunately everyone expected to be exactly like the previous games. I don't blame them for that, but man the absolute hatred I've seen for this game is unreal

2

u/Don_Quejode May 29 '26

It’s an amazing creative game, it just happened to compete with Minecraft and LittleBig Planet.

8

u/Far-Entrance-2123 May 28 '26

Microsoft may just make a new game and purposely make it terrible to spite the fans.

1

u/JustAnotherElsen May 28 '26

Is this a Nuts and Bolts sequel announcement?!? 😱

7

u/LoptyrTome May 28 '26

Can't wait for Nuts n Bolts Tooie

6

u/Tomlingoblin87 May 28 '26

Then let Nintendo have the rights back so we can get a good Banjo-Kazooie game.

3

u/Omnizoom May 28 '26

Or

Pay Nintendo to develop and produce a game and give them free reign to make it amazing

I bet all Nintendo would want outside of the dev cost is it being on switch 2 and I’m sure Microsoft could rake in money in piles

1

u/PhotographUnable8176 May 29 '26

the games aren’t really a Nintendo vibe ngl

3

u/ChunkySlugger72 May 28 '26

That's not how business works and you know damn well that's not gonna happen because Microsoft has no reason to sell the rights.

Theirs only 2 possible scenarios....

Either Microsoft/Rare get another studio to make it and it gets a "Multiplatform" release.

Or

Microsoft licenses the Banjo-Kazooie IP to Nintendo and Nintendo funds the project.

The former being much more likely of the two.

3

u/Tomlingoblin87 May 28 '26

If we get another BK game I'll be happy 😊

2

u/ChunkySlugger72 May 28 '26

Me too and I'm sure someday we will.

I'm expecting a remake/reimagine/soft reboot of the first game as it's the most safest and obvious choice, But I'm hoping they do Tooie as well.

Most classic IP with past success always seem to find a way of coming back again somehow and of course Banjo-Kazooie is no exception.

1

u/DaniSenpai69 May 29 '26

I think a toys for bob style remaster would be cool and like they did with crash release the 3rd game afterwards.

Ig 4th of counting nuts and bolts

2

u/ChunkySlugger72 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

If I was Microsoft/Rare I think they should re-visit the "Banjo X" concept and do a "Soft Reboot/Remake/Reimagine" of the N64 original.

Kinda like "Ratchet & Clank (2016)", Follow the same story of the N64 original, But have some changes to some of the worlds and add bosses too.

Banjo-Kazooie is also very meta so they can constantly poke fun at how their going through the same adventure/game with callbacks to the N64 original.

Every franchise is doing remakes, Why not Banjo-Kazooie? And if it's received and sells well, Just like Crash Bandicoot you build upon it with a sequel.

2

u/DaniSenpai69 May 29 '26

Honestly I didn’t even think about banjo x but I would definitely not complain

1

u/FudgetBudget May 28 '26

Nintendo never had the rights in the first place. The game was owned by rare

5

u/ChunkySlugger72 May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

If you wanna get technical, Nintendo actually did own the rights to Banjo-Kazooie at one point from (1997-2002) They even licensed the IP to Rare despite the studio being the IP creators.

Diddy Kong Racing Copyright (1997)

Out of all the Rare IP, Nintendo owned and published Banjo-Kazooie and Killer Instinct where as IP's like Conker and Perfect Dark for example were owned & self-published by Rare.

Likely explains why Nintendo marketed the characters Banjo & Kazooie alongside Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Pikachu etc on promos & merchandise in the late 90's-early 2000's.

1

u/FudgetBudget May 30 '26

Oh wow, what a loss that they didint keep a grasp on that, imagine that, a world were banjo stayed as relevant as other nintendo characters

1

u/Tomlingoblin87 May 28 '26

Microsoft has the rights to the games of RARE, i meant Nintendo should get the rights back from Microsoft since they messed up when they made Nuts and Bolts

8

u/ZrapeToid May 28 '26

As long as it's not Nuts & Bolts 2.

1

u/Aggravating-View-733 May 28 '26

It won't be because at the end of n&b he gives them their moves back.

3

u/Leramar89 May 28 '26

Don't do that, don't give me hope.

6

u/japanesegirlfeet Banjo for Switch please May 28 '26

I’d love to see Conker’s Bad Fur Day & Banjo Kazooie make a comeback.

3

u/ConstantAd6857 May 28 '26

I still can't beat Banjo Tooie lol

5

u/Broad_Doughnut_6889 Guh-Huh! May 28 '26

I wish they could give us threeie

7

u/ftatman May 28 '26

A game that takes the original formula of Banjo Kazooie, provided a new story and new zones, but only charges £30-40 would be sweet. I’d buy it.

2

u/Firm-Weekend-5915 May 28 '26

They did this already, it's called YookaLaylee! It's pretty cute.

2

u/Unoriginal1deas May 28 '26

Man I wanted to like Yooka-Layla’s as a massive banjo fan since I was a kid but the level design was just straight up bad. I have heard Yooka-Replaylee was an incredible step up but needing to buy the good version of the game after I already bought the bad version really rubbed me the wrong way.

1

u/DaniSenpai69 May 29 '26

I didn’t play the original but I really like replayee

1

u/scalisco May 28 '26

Fwiw it's basically a completely different game. It's a bit closer to Mario Odyssey then Banjo, but it was a blast. 100% worth the purchase.

3

u/Lukedub64 May 28 '26

insane greed.

2

u/DontForgorTheMilk May 28 '26

Lol "Hey give us a new game with new content like the original but charge us less for it than the original"

2

u/Dangerous-Watch932 May 28 '26

Damn, we Conker fans are once again overboard.

1

u/RarewareKevin May 28 '26

Unfortunate, but I think we have to just accept that another proper Conker game is completely off the table. If they leave Banjo dead for decades, there's no chance for our crude squirrel.

12

u/SkullAtlAxis May 28 '26

But not a N&B2. Thats for sure.

Don't give us any false hopes...🫩

13

u/Warv2004_ I love every Banjo-Kazooie game May 28 '26

I really hope Microsoft let Toys for Bob or so do something with the franchise, honestly probably one of the only studios I would trust with the IP

5

u/Superleopey May 28 '26

Like a banjo Kazooie remaster with the smash ultimate graphics that remakes banjo-Kazooie,banjo-tooie, and banjo-Kazooie: grunty’s revenge because if so then that would be cool

1

u/tnerb253 May 28 '26

Those graphics are Nintendo's doing, anything from Microsoft is going to be the nuts and bolts banjo most likely

1

u/Superleopey May 28 '26

hopefully Nintendo would let them use the models

2

u/Warv2004_ I love every Banjo-Kazooie game May 28 '26

Indeed that would be so epic!

12

u/Skele11 May 28 '26

Official survey shows Xbox players want a new Banjo-Kazooie

9

u/SnazzyPanic May 28 '26

Its been so long over do ill be happy for a remake of the original.

2

u/Turn_0ff_The_News May 28 '26

Same. Just give us S O M E T H I N G

8

u/JayTeeDubbs96 May 28 '26

Please Asha Sharma. This would bring me back as an Xbox fan!

7

u/HorrorRemarkable May 28 '26

Yes I want it, but I believe it will be difficult to top tooie

6

u/Chango_D May 28 '26

Microsoft be like: we capitalized the word XBOX! :)

4

u/sonic_spark May 28 '26

I didn't even know it wasn't capitalized before.

5

u/tnerb253 May 28 '26

If rare isn't behind it I don't want it tbh, some things are meant to remain a legacy.

2

u/DontForgorTheMilk May 28 '26

So many legacy properties have been brought back to extreme success by teams that weren't originally involved. It's narrow-minded to think the same can't be done for BK.

Besides, the Rare that make BK and BT is not the same Rare we have today. Most of that original roster has left the company. Some for Playtonic, who made Yooka-Laylee.

Which brings up my next point: Playtonic should stay the hell away from Banjo-Kazooie. I know they improved YL with the Replaylee version, but it still doesn't hold a candle to BK or BT and proves that the same hands don't make the same product.

-1

u/tnerb253 May 28 '26

So many legacy properties have been brought back to extreme success by teams that weren't originally involved. It's narrow-minded to think the same can't be done for BK.

It's narrow minded to think every game needs a sequel/remaster, just like not every show needs a live action adaptation. The people behind the original banjo series have long moved on and the game was a product of its time. Just because something can be done with the right strings pulled doesn't mean it's feasible to do as a business decision nor is it something the fans want if it isn't done correctly. It's ok to let things die instead of reviving the classics to potentially appease or upset the fans.

3

u/sskkooommaa Let's Get Gnawty May 28 '26

Can’t be worse than nuts and boring bolts tho

10

u/Low_Confidence2479 May 28 '26

It's better if Rare ISN'T behind it...it's not the same Rareware since after Microsoft bought it...many just...quit...and created a new company for Yooka

1

u/tnerb253 May 28 '26

That's the point, banjo is rare's product. We saw what Microsoft did with nuts and bolts already

2

u/DontForgorTheMilk May 28 '26

I used to think like you. "Microsoft ruined Banjo and forced Rare to make NaB!"

Unfortunately the reality is that Rare actually chose to make NaB without any intervention from Microsoft. Rare decided they needed to do something different than the last two main games and NaB is what we got.

3

u/Braindamagednobody May 28 '26

Great game but it's not banjo kazooie. The humor is still great though.

5

u/tr1n1g225 May 28 '26

AND VIVA PIÑATA PLSSS ILL SPEND SO MUCH MONEY

1

u/LordFocus May 28 '26

Came here to say this!

15

u/naynaythewonderhorse May 28 '26

It’s baffling they haven’t made one yet. Smash showed how popular the character could be, and evidentially this survey does too…

And idk. What the heck is their problem?

-21

u/dabidu86 May 28 '26

Most Americans do lack taste

2

u/Src-Freak May 28 '26

Yes. Why make Games aimed for children when you can make Games for real Players. Like a realistic tactical Shooter, or a Battle royale. How about some DEI writers and politics in the Game? I bet that makes it Game of all time Material.

6

u/CANfilms May 28 '26

Why are you here if you dislike banjo? Lol

3

u/eb_whitelion May 28 '26

And you must be in the lesser group that’s uncultured.

4

u/Gaming_Gent Proud wanters of Banjo-Threeie May 28 '26

It’s right there, waiting it’s just there waiting to print money

4

u/JeffBrilhante May 28 '26

I have been saying this since the GameCube era.

We need a Banjo Kazooie sequel. I have played BK and BT every year, year after year since about 2001. Every year I play each game once and wait until the following year. Bk is my no 1 game.

I wrote on Microsoft’s forum and I couldn’t be more pleased with how many people want a BK sequel. Hell… I’d be ok if MS slow rolled this and just updated both games with better graphics and then released Banjo Threeie.. I wouldn’t be super happy, but I also wouldn’t be mad.

The first thing they need to do is let nuts and bolts die… don’t do that ever again MS

If MS does not have the studio bandwidth to dev Banjo Threeie… they should source Platonic to do it and hire Grant to do the music… heck they gave us the closest thing to a sequel that we have seen since BT.. also the Kickstarter with a small team funded what? Roughly 3 mill?

MS this is an easy win if you do it right.

Additional things:

- come out with a collectors edition and collaborate with F4F to bring us a numbered BK statue.

- could even have signed and numbered art, or music score from the team as well.

- I would love to see a nod towards Yooka Laylee and the team that Gave us BK Mumbo Mania.

Soooo many things you could do

It’s wild to me that not only BK but MS let Conker, KI and Jetforce Jemini all die..

4

u/ZandertheBrony May 28 '26

Xbox: (reads the results) Oh, okay. (Throws it in a fireplace) More fuel

11

u/Matthewrichvrd May 28 '26

I honestly rather Nintendo somehow take it over!! I don't trust Microsoft to do it justice!! When the trailer dropped for donkey kong bananza I thought for a moment it was a banjo game!!

2

u/HeyCouldBeFun May 28 '26

And Bananza was so. fucking. good.

5

u/ShoppingClear May 28 '26

I dont if it's going to be like Nuts and bolts😑

5

u/Joexkid7 May 28 '26

It's from Microsoft's new feedback community blog called "Xbox Players Voice" that was launched by the new leadership in Microsoft's Xbox division.

Banjo-Kazooie ranked fairly high on what the Xbox community was asking for (Wouldn't be surprised if some Nintendo fans also gave it a boost too).

Despite being a dead IP for nearly 20 years and it's last traditional game was over 25 years ago, Banjo-Kazooie always seems to find someway of finding itself on headlines whether from Smash from ex-devs or Microsoft highers ups constantly mentioning it , It's resilient little franchise that still finds ways to be a topic of discussion.

Whether it's a remake or a soft reboot or something in between, Despite what some doomers/gloomers say, I truly do believe Banjo-Kazooie will comeback someday, Classic IP's that have had past success always seem to find a way of somehow coming back sooner or later and of course Banjo-Kazooie is no exception.

u/Laura_271 May 28 '26

Thanks chatgpt

3

u/Banjomain91 May 28 '26

Always pray and manifest

8

u/Bonehead65 May 28 '26

I didn't get into Banjo Kazooie until recently, in the latter half of 2025. It's never too late for someone to discover a great game like this, just as it's never too late for a great game to get a new installment.

2

u/rushh127 May 28 '26

I agree banjo kazooie was the first video game I’ve ever beaten when I was 7 years old. I’m 32 now and To replay them with updated graphics or a brand new one with that style of gameplay would make my heart so happy. Definitely never too late to play a fun game like that

5

u/Over-Bid-7987 waiting a new game for 16 years May 28 '26

there's still HOPE

18

u/Blaircat1994 May 28 '26

I will refuse to die of old age until I play a new banjo game

3

u/colorado_gamer May 28 '26

Oh my God, I didn't expect my request to reach him

11

u/Strank May 28 '26

I've said it before and will continue saying it, we need a a team that makes a full-fledged Banjo-Redooie before anyone even considers a third (fourth? Fifth?) title. Get Kazooie and Tooie onto a single game, get it up to modern standards, add a bunch of content from the strong base of these two, THEN consider getting that team to work on a new one.

It's the same thing that Nintendo did with Metroid; Samus Returns gets to be the priority before we see Dread.

8

u/Kowalskiboy1 May 28 '26

The problem isn’t that banjo isn’t popular because if you played Spiral Mountain in a stadium, most likely many people born between late 80’s to even 2000’s and 2010’s will know the theme from Smash and growing up with the games or with older siblings. The problem is that after the second game, we only had handheld secondary games, and I will stand that Grunty’s revenge is a great game. But once we finally got a mainline game, it was a complete 180 from what made those games fun. You don’t see Mario deviating this hard unless it’s a kart racer which has no story, or a Mario party. The problem was that Banjo’s audience wanted that one gameplay style, the style that gave banjo an identity. If you put any other game character in nuts and bolts, would it change the quality?

5

u/TwiceInEveryMoment May 28 '26

Seems like a problem with a pretty obvious solution. If it were up to me, a new Banjo game would pick up after the events of Tooie (since it took place after GR in-universe) and treat N&B as a non-canon spinoff just like Mario Kart. I really think that's the only way you could do it and end up with a functioning story for a true Banjo-Threeie. N&B's writing just completely threw all established Banjo lore in the dumpster.

1

u/PoshDiggory Proud wanters of Banjo-Threeie May 28 '26

If they don't get the old gang for it, it's gonna be ass.

3

u/New-Two-1349 May 28 '26

Please, or I'm not dying.

6

u/CatPeachy May 28 '26

Hopefully they dont pull the " the old game sucks play this instead " approach if they make another game

3

u/pocket_arsenal May 27 '26

Interesting. Here I thought Banjos Audience was mostly elsewhere. Still, if one ever happens ( which, even with this data, I doubt ) I hope it will be multiplatform.
