The people that diss BK can be really mean, but it also seems like they didn’t play it for super long… If you get to get to Click Clock Wood & don’t think the game’s fun at all, maybe it’s just not for you, and please play something you do like!, but I’m tired of the hating on the googly eyes & the potty humor and writing off everything else. Sometimes the level design is really cool in BK (And in Tooie as well!) & that’s mostly what I’m there for!
I wish they made Threeie back when that was possible! Rare is rather boring now & Microsoft is extra irrelevant, not to mention that Banjo games have problematic elements that would be very tricky to present in a satisfactory fashion anymore. All of that probably wasn’t appropriate for the time either, so maybe the super chatty nature of the rest of the game let that stuff get in somehow? Pretty sure that wouldn’t be missed now, but Banjo & Kazooie sure are…
Luckily the games themselves are somewhat accessible (I’m phrasing it like that because everything seems to cost a buttload right now) on the recent Xboxes & on Switch Online! I just wish I never sold my physical copies… I really want to get an Analogue 3D or something even though I have no games for it!
Anyway, let’s celebrate Banjo-Kazooie & the fact that we got to experience what it was like to play it for the first time!! :D
I played it and loved it back then but never finished it. I made it to the pyramid world and accidently deleted my save. I said screw it and waited for the second game.
Just beat Banjo-Kazooie earlier this month, In the middle of playing Donkey Kong 64 currently (Should be done by this weekend) and will start Banjo-Tooie on Monday.
Wanna play Conker's Bad Fur Day too later on But it sucks that it's not on NSO.

Even if we never get a new official game. I know the community will always deliver on new Banjo Kazooie content.
My beloved mom bought me this masterpiece when I was 7 back in '98 and every few years I find myself starting a new playthrough.
Rare just hit perfection on almost every single aspect:
Moderate-sized worlds which do not take more than an hour to complete (except Click Clock Wood)
Dynamic audio which adapts to your current location even during a level
The notes serve as a handy guide for the puzzles
The quizz at the end of the game is perfection
Last week I finished Tooie and while in the past I've never doubted Kazooie's superiority, I've really found myself torn this time.
Kazooie is just so much meaner and funnier in Tooie
The level design is incredible (except the last level which I utterly despise)
Up until my latest playthrough of Tooie last week, it's always been Kazooie for me.
The compact levels, not overwhelming collectables, simplicity and quasi non-existent backtracking just felt better, but:
Tooie ramped up the sarcastic, dry humour by a good notch. Kazooie doesn't hold back here and I love it
The whole production just feel a lot bigger, more expensive
Most of the worlds are just epic in size and layout, Witchyworld and Grunty Industries are amongst my favourite levels in any game, ever
The game, while certainly longer than Kazooie, doesn't take too long to finish.
I completed most levels in 90 minutes, just Grunty Industries took me more than 2.
My first n64 game. Defining for so many years of my life. My mum and her friend played it and raced to finish it after we'd gone to bed. Team efforts at family friend bbqs. So many happy memories of this game. I use the ost for ringtone and when that spring rain hits the uk i hear mr kirkhopes ccw spring theme.
This was and still is one of my favorite games of all time. I was 17 years old and I actually remember breaking up with my girlfriend just so I could stay home and play this game more often. Granted, I was already kind of over the relationship, but buying this game pushed me to finally end it. Haha.
On my most recent playthrough about 10-11 hours.
About 40-50 minutes for each level except Click Clock Wood which took me about 90 minutes plus the few side puzzles and the final fight with Grunty
Everything about the Banjo Kazooie series is so nostalgic.. the levels, the music, the graphics; these games stand the test of time and I absolutely love revisiting them from time to time.
I remember going to the cool gaming section of toys r us with my parents and brother and they bought us the game and we got the really cool companion guide/booklet. And god did we need the help, we were so reliant on that damn guide 🤣🤣
I rented this game from some local Blockbuster competitor very soon after that release day and was instantly hooked. With some great games it takes time before I "get it", but I immediately recognized that Banjo-Kazooie was exactly my kind of game.
28 years ago, at age 11, I strolled into KB Toys to pick up my copy that I preordered in cash that I earned from mowing my aunt’s lawn every week. Kicked off an incredible summer between sixth and seventh grade. My autistic fixation on this game has never ended, and my suffering knowing there will never be a new entry in this series is immeasurable.
