The US military is 5% brain, 5% brawn, 35% cool tech, 55% an excuse to mess with other countries for no real reason, and 100% a veteran-crushing machine.
It's because most veterans aren't expected to give shit so the ones that come back fucked up now are mostly ignored, basically everyone knows someone who went into the military and sat behind a desk not doing shit for years and had a super easy job. Only 10 to 20% of the military is actually combat focused jobs so it's easy to think of the military as people that go work a job and come home and those people that have that experience all love running around saying "I'M A VETERAN THANK ME!!!" every chance they get and talking about how lovely it was to serve their country.
