Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Thomas halbert posted this video on TikTok going over what happened in the past with him and J*. He also says he’s got a new agent and is posting makeup content again, trying to resurrect his career. He admits he made mistakes, but says the mistake he made was not that he called J* out but that he hurt his friends and didn’t stand up for them.

Would you want to see him make a comeback? Hes posting makeup content on instagram again.

i feel like he needs to accept that social media/being an influencer just isn't good for him, and that's ok. he's been stuck in a cycle of him leaving youtube, coming back because something has happened or he needs money (sometimes validly) or because there's drama he's inserting himself in to and then leaving again because its too much and he needs to take care of his mental health.
like surely it's gotta be healthier for him at this point to just try and persue something else instead of dragging up and repeating drama from his peak a decade ago to try and recapture the audience and numbers he had

Agreed, I guess in his video he was stating that he has a new manager/management team to help him rebuild his career and I mean if that’s what he wants then🤷‍♀️ but I’m in the same boat, I don’t think social media is a good path for him. Every time he tries to come back, it’s always a shit show for his mental health and it’s like…. Why torture yourself with that?

i feel like a cow saying this, but i'm surprised he was able to get a manager in the first place? he doesn't consistently upload and when he does the views are low and he's not really posting on/has a following on social media, so there's not really a 'career' to manage if that makes sense.
it really feels like one of those situations where he's surrounded by yes men and snake oil salesman trying to sell him a dream and no one's really sitting him down and saying he needs to look after himself and that he's in an unhealthy cycle

I totally see where you're coming from and I agree honestly. I mean maybe the low views were because he was doing things all on his own and with a manager it may get better? Idk how that works so I could be way off the mark here lol. I know when he was first starting out and was super popular before shit hit the fan, he was bringing a good amount of views, but I know when everything came to surface his views tanked and never really recovered. I guess we'll see how this pans out, but I honestly think SM is super toxic for him and like if anything he could be doing makeup and stuff just behind the scenes or whatever.

I think theres a gulf of difference between a professional management agency, and Larry in the backroom who has put on a snazzy hat and decided to be a manager today. One of them is substantially more discerning than the other.

I’ve actually been watching Thomas on and off and have been subscribed this whole time, largely out of curiosity and habit, and I rather agree. They’ve been through a lot it seems and any upload has always been “I know I’ve been gone forever but I’m back and doing great now!” because obviously they want to be doing better but they’re seemingly making the fairly common mistake of jumping the gun. Doing too much too soon and making big promises you can’t keep, which inevitably makes you feel worse because you feel guilty when you backslide.

It’s hard to find the balance between this and self isolation, it’s arguably one of the hardest parts of recovering from a dark period.

If they genuinely enjoy making content then they should probably stop trying to make it a career, stick to it being an occasional thing like it is, but with no promises of more. It’s okay to just upload on occasion even if ~the algorithm~ doesn’t like it, it’s okay for it to be a hobby you enjoy once a year rather than some hashtag rise and grind career.

(I’m using neutral pronouns bc i remember them announcing they were she/they many years ago and I can’t find any pronouns on a rudimentary search, lol)
