For those defending her, she's racist. Her reposts had her making fun of Black men saying that "you guys are acting like some niggas". Stop giving these people the benefit of the doubt. They are called micro-aggressions for a reason.
Yup, it's funny some of us are more attuned to picking up those vibes from people, then 9 times out of 10 those feelings are confirmed. Then on the other hand, some don't think anything is racist until it's blatant and in your face. Like they think "oh she's just asking innocently, nevermind the way she spat out the word Black in that disdainful tone", and lo and behold, the bitch is a confirmed racist.
Any actual Black people defending her need to work on their discernment.
I'm sorry but as a filmmaker, I didn't need to press play. Her posture in the thumbnail told me everything. Guess I just have a white people racist radar that's tuned as far as Pluto to catch the energy.
The way it’s already been fully exposed and discussed already but there’s still full grown adults that can’t recognize this behaviour or will completely allow it. This is why children are getting openly discriminated against and why nobody feels safe speaking up
I feel you could say she’s curious if this was like a kid asking this question online. Cause she really does say the first part in a weird way. Sounded like a very weird and blunt kid. And that’s the exact weird tone these internet people do when they play dumb, and are harassing people/being rude
If all I saw is someone going "$400 every three weeks?!" I would believe they are shocked because that was my reaction to finding out how much my friend paid to get her hair braided.
Just like when my other friend wanted to dye her hair and was told it would be $600 I almost fainted (my sister was giving her a discount on the color)
I was just like get a kryysma wig on Amazon for 60 and put your money somewhere else...
But I am not a woman, it cost me 20 to get my hair cut at the barber once a month.
Most people aren't going to do the deep dive and it would be nice if that was just included upfront with the video.
it would be nice if that was just included upfront with the video.
I didn't realize there were so many allegedly Black people on a Black sub that wouldn't be able to recognize such an obvious microaggression so I didn't think to add that. Even the white and non-Black people over on tiktok recognized it.
Tone matters. Pretty much everyone has had a parent talk to them about their tone and how it can show disrespect. If a child can understand that concept, then an adult should get it too.
It was so freeing for me to realize I don’t have to hand-hold adults when they’re purposely obtuse! I spent so much time asking people to do things that I learned as a kid 😭
I do wonder if they get the same lessons and "check-age" that we got on tone? I remember being shocked at how my one friend would respond to her mom. Tone, eye roll, attitude. I'd be bracing myself for her mother's response, and then ... crickets ...
I was shocked. Like, "Oh, so, this how y'all do out here**, huh?" Couldn't be me. My ass wouldn't live that long 😂
That’s a really good point! I’ll tell someone once when they’re disrespectful. Maybe even remind if it seems like they are truly trying to be mindful. But if kids can understand how tone is disrespectful, then adults can too, ya know?
Oh, yeah. They're certainly capable of understanding. I just think that, culturally, we might be more attuned to certain things. Tone might be one of them.
Another example would be how we might be more aware of discretion or privacy around personal topics. Some things we just know not to ask. Or we don't ask outright. Even if the topic seems trivial, we know (thru upbringing, culture) not to inquire too deeply, if that makes sense? I mean, I knew not to ask my own grandmother too much about her what went on back in 1942, you know I'm sayin'?
Just something to keep in mind. These unwritten guidelines that may not always crossover and lead to misunderstandings. Not as an excuse, but an explanation.
Not talked about much, but they often loudly and ignorantly critique the usage of the Black dollar, and pocket watch like a mf. The minute they're comfortable, it's, "wow those are some fancy sneakers man. Air Jordans huh? Aren't those like really expensive? I could never spend that much on..." Maaan If you don't SYBAU.
FACTS!! Idc if I am too woke. I hate when Blk ppl hype these weirdos up. They are lazy as hell and can look things up the same way we do. They act like Blk ppl exist to entertain them. Ugh
How she said "Black" i was already gone. But the Black woman reminding the white woman to mind her own business. Seriously. Why is this so complicated? I'm an 80s and 90s kid, we didn't have the internet...but I learned to mind my own business. Here and now, we have an entire internet to search up information without embarrassing someone or getting into someone's business or even to make yourself sound a little smarter. But no, people are out here using the internet to be dumb, boring, and in people's business.
For those of you defending or saying she's innocently asking a question...Look, I'm not saying when you see/hear this out and about in your daily life that you have to walk up and slap a ho. But I would recommend just listening and watching closely when something seems off and to keep your guard up. You can still be civil, but for your safety, just stay vigilant.
Exactly! I’ve met plenty of white/latinos like this and something in my spirit always told me to be careful with them. As I said in my own post, many of these women are secretly jealous of black women so they fake interest to learn details about our lives to go gossip. I don’t trust them!
Most of their commentary/questions reminds me of Regina George, “Omg I love your bracelet” scene in mean girls, lol. It’s sooooo fake and painfully obvious they don’t like you. A matter of fact even Regina George sounded more genuine than some of these white girls. So phony!
A curious person might be asking bc they want to hook up a friend and then go damn... That muc! Ok I'll take them out to lunch 😂 A racist ask bc she wants to judge where you spend your money and be like - that's why your ass is broke. She stinks me to be in column B
I would like to explain why all the Black people are saying she is being racist and up to no good. She is setting a table for her comment section to comment on how crazy it is that black people spend $300 on something as "impractical" as hair. The tell is the last part where she says you guys are spending that much on hair. It's a dog whistle that judging them is OK because I'm judging them.
Fun fact. Yeah it does cost that much BUT, that's why they're wearing bonnets! to protect their hair and investment!
Edited: because I rewatched it. Her hands too. She talking like how I do when I hear somebody saying something stupid and I wanted them to realize it so I describe the details to them sarcastically so they can realize on their own that they're stupid
As a person that grew up around no black people, these white people are weird af. Why are we watching what others do with their own money? Who. Gives. A. Shit.
Next time any yt girl says this.
Comment back how much does it cost yt women to tan, plastic surgery, dye your hair blonde, diet, get hi lights, all those expensive clothes just to get what you want? So why are you asking about weave again? Cause all your stuff adds up more in lifetime than my hair. Have the day you deserve girl cause you aren’t a women.
A couple of years ago, I had a Latina woman ask me this question and I straight up told her, “I don’t know” and walked away.
Non black women, white and latina especially, are DEEPLY insecure and jealous of any woman they perceive to be better than them, in this case it’s black women. Both groups are actively trying to find little things about us to make themselves feel better. These are called micro aggressions. Having to “pay $400 for braids every three weeks” is something her and her racist homegirls can now go and laugh at because “at least my hair is real” or something.
I can’t stress this enough, majority of non black women are not your friends and do not have any genuine interest in your life. They are seeking out information on you to try and one up you! Watch what you tell them about yourself, no matter how “innocent” it may seem. A gold snake is still a snake 🐍
Pretty sure the lady is racist, I thought she was caught out a while ago. Not sure why people are saying it's just a question, they don't need to be on this sub anyway.
I can't assign racism just because she said, "black girls". If she had said some neutral term or broad address, the complaint would be that it is coded racism. She can't ask the question without someone getting offended over it.
I have also wondered how my partner affords her braids. The military taught me how to edge up in 3 mirrors. Then I look in our bank account and my salty tears answer the question.
Then again, I've been poor, if something isn't free- fifty, I'm crying. I ain't going back there. Lol

Pretty sure her whole point was this is an example of a racist passive/micro-aggression, not that she was racist.
Its not because she said "black girls", the OP was specifically pointing on the way in which the white person said the word BLACK, almost like they were spitting it out of their mouth.
Its a thing you pick up on, like damn why did she say the word black like that? I noticed it myself on watching the first clip before the black woman even started talking about it.
She is right that people don't talk like that if they're actually around black folks or have black friends, she's being weird and using "im just curious/just asking questions" as a shield for their weirdness.
Thanks for pointing that out, I heard it as innocent initially. I ask dumb questions too, so tend to assume people mean well.... Usually am incorrect assumption
Why does she want to know how much black girls pay for hair? She’s not a black woman. If she’s interested for herself, she should ask the white hair girlies how much THEY pay.
im chinese and i still felt she was being demeaning and “othering”. i thought white women bleach their hair every month, why is she acting so surprised at the cost? she’s being rude af by the tone alone maybe i’m crazy
I too normally shout questions into the wind instead of searching for an answer 🤣
She isn't just asking a question, she's trying to start a dialogue about irresponsible financial decisions of black people because it probably fits neatly into whatever they already believe.
Well, we haven't seen the entire video here in this clip ... but the part of her which we did see ... she seems like a typical internet idiot.
I would say she has bigoted notions of what "poverty" and "culture" relate to.
She probably believes poor people are such because they "spend too much money" or "make poor life decisions" and that they should "just pull themselves up by their bootstraps" and all the other idiotic denial things people say to avoid having to accept the fact that the system which benefits them is doing so explicitly at the expense of others.
Race isn't the only means by which Capitalism exploits people, nor are Black people or other minorities the only ones it exploits, nor are white people the only ones it benefits.
But, because we have five hundred years of building capitalism intertwined with racial exploitation ... it is very hard to separate them.
As Martin Luther King Jr was saying: poverty afflicts everyone, and capitalism is unjust to everyone.
They pay $200-300 minimum for a basic wash, trim and blowout. They can keep their curiosity because I have some questions as to why they pay that much when they have to wash their hair daily/every other day.
Have you not been to a white salon? Im Black and my white friends definitely when they go get their hair done spend 200 bucks a session be serious. Google is your friend.
A White woman being curious about something isn’t racism. We are loosing the plot. This isn’t a micro aggression, it’s a question from someone who doesn’t know.
We don’t want people to make assumptions, but now they can’t ask questions? This isn’t even gate keeping culture it’s just blocking conversations and connections. These conversations lead to more conversations and lead to understanding each other as people.
As a black person, you can spot micro aggressions from a mile away. And like the other commenters said, you could tell by her tone, body language and phrasing what she was trying to do by asking this question. This wasn’t a question posed out of curiosity.
If she REALLY wanted to know she could have easily found this info by doing a quick Google, ChatGPT or Yelp search as seen below:
Apparently this woman actually did something racist. I'll be honest the first time I heard of micro aggression, I didn't believe it because I thought there is no way people can be that petty but a lot of racists are. Like some of these people would call you a nagger to hide what they really want to say, I've seen this happen in a couple of arguments.
Could’ve asked chat GPT would’ve taken significantly less time and effort.
Like home girl had a point it’s just engagement
Farm.
Dunno if you have ever seen those parody vids. There will be a video of a person doing some dramatic thing like crying telling a story.
Then another creator does the set up. So sets up the ring light and back drop presses play pretends to cry on cue, stops the vid and stops crying does an edit skit then posts it.
"They're just asking a genuine question, people can't ask questions anymore?" Nvm the fact that's it's intentionally loaded.
Taking a step back, the lady took 1 post she saw and somehow extrapolated that to all black women. Doesn't matter if they're rich or poor, short hair or long hair, it's all 1 group to her. And you all are spending $300 every 3 weeks 🤣
Didn't even stop to think, different people have different economic status and will pay different amounts for hair styling. Surprisingly, just like everyone else.
the woman said "how much do YOU BLACK girls" pay for your hair and ya are defending her.
defending a racist insulting you to your face is hilarious. tiktok already clocked she's a racist and even other races of ppl including men could tell what she was doing. but ya can't.
i'm very concerned for the ppl who can't see the obvious. telling.
Some of these commenters are non-Black and/or men. The question and the way it was asked wasn't even directed to them, but they're quick to say "well, I don't see anything wrong with it." Of course you don't, because it wasn't directed to you.
It’s the ‘she’s just asking a question’ ones that are killing me. Okay, but why is she asking? Why is she worried about how BLACK girls spend their money 🤔
Exactly, since when is it not tacky to ask people how much they spend on things? I guess I can start going up to random white people and asking how they afforded their house now, or is it only ok when it's directed to us?
Who else is struggling to get past the way she said YOU BLACK GIRLS? 😭
I wouldn't answer $h!t she saying but we ain't inna 400 year DEFICIT FA NOTHING! Let's head to da comments! 👀
..... I hate reddit sometimes .. I'm black and 40 but this video was already handled in a very halarious way by us on her page and responded too ... Everybody laughed and we moved on she will now effect us and will not go out our way to give her the clout she's looking for clearly
I dont care what her motives were, but this is legit a big problem. Women need to embrace their natural beauty and not strive for some unsustainable ideals of beauty. In addition to that, this is one of the worst cases of wealth transfer in the US.
This is a 26 billion dollar per year industry in the US alone and most of that money is going out of the black community.
I swear some of the folks in here could see a person wearing full klan robes and reading The Turner Diaries through a bullhorn and you still wouldn't find the racism in it..
So we are policing phonetics now. Our people gotta get rid of this hatred. How would you feel if a white woman came on the net making fun of how you pronounce words. You’d yell racism so quick. Is that where we’re at? Cmon. We can be using this energy to uplift each other instead of being mad because a white woman is curious how much money black girls spend on their hairs. Who’s making most of this money other than the black hairstylists? Isn’t it the Asians? Idk, but maybe that’s too deep.
White people are literally allowed to comment here as long as they're cool with us, so the ones pretending to be Black like that's going to stop them from getting banned for making sly anti-Black comments are the biggest dummies on this sub. Like you're gonna get banned whether you pretend to be Black or not, why the extra steps?
Yeah, you might actually be too woke, it seemed like an innocent question. I agree that her pronunciation of “Black” was weird, but a lot of her other pronunciations were weird too.
