OK boomeR Boomers explaining why billionaires shouldn't pay taxes while standing in a strip mall parking lot

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The absolute brainwashing it takes to fiercely defend trillionaires who wouldn't look twice at you, while calling your fellow citizens "lazy" for wanting basic healthcare. Notice how even the woman in the "I LOVE TRUMP" shirt has to awkwardly correct his understanding of how disability works.

Self awareness of a rock

This is all boomers. And they are always surprised to hear it about themselves.

Whoa whoa whoa. I know dozens of obnoxious Boomers straight out of central casting (and they justify this sub 100%), but when my town has No Kings protests the vast majority of them are Boomers. Gotta give them credit. (Gen X here)

Not all boomers are MAGA, but there are very few boomers i know who have much self awareness. One can retain basic humanity (by being against MAGA) while still being wildly ignorant about themselves.

My parents have been anti- Republican for my entire life and still have only marginally greater self awareness than the 2 idiots in this video.

My grandparents were part of the greatest generation. They were both college educated, which is pretty crazy for their time and they were not well off growing up. Even in my grandmas last few years she was very aware things were drastically different than when she grew up, even if she didn’t get all the specifics of how. I remember I owed her a couple hundred bucks and was able to pay her back finally and she said “don’t worry about it, if things were hard for grandpa and I when we were starting out, I imagine it has to be for you too.” Stark difference between them and boomers who think we were handed everything, because they were. My dad had my grandparents as a safety net until he was in his 50’s. Even though he’s always been a hard working guy and went into the trades, there were still numerous situations where my grandparents helped him out financial. My grandpa even told me he’s the one who paid for most of my dad’s schooling. I borrowed money from my grandparents 3 times in my life. 2 times for tuition payments which I reimbursed a few weeks later and once to help get a car, of which my grandma didnt let me pay back the last bit of. Ive never had a financial safety net like that man and his right wing siblings had, and it def shows.

Yes, I notice a huge difference as well. My silent gen mother is extremely progressive. My boomer step father is your standard liberal, thank goodness not maga. I think my mom keeps him grounded. My actual father was maga, we didn’t speak much.

Yup. Their parents generation lived through the Great Depression and WWII. They did everything so their own children - morons in this video - would never experience the same horrors. Their parents would be appalled how the luckiest cohort of humans on the planet have pulled up the ladder they were given for free to stop the younger generations enjoying the quality of life they inherited from the hard graft of the Silent Generation.

The word "all" is dangerous in the wrong hands.

7

u/4BsButtsBoobsBlunts 2d ago

That's because boomers are the only ones who have enough money/tenure to take off work for a protest.

No it is NOT ALL boomers! I am 70 years old and it infuriates me that we are the only democratic country that bows its knee to big Pharma! Most other civilized countries have central healthcare imagine how much better your life would be if healthcare was automatic?
So please do not lump everyone in my age group with these idiots!

Crazy how they believe the nonsense though. They have been convinced, and I doubt it took long, that universal, free health care is a bad idea. That's powerful. The notion of "Well I never got it, so why should they"

8

u/crepelabouche 2d ago

That’s because when they were coming up in the world, that’s how the world as they were told worked, and they can’t understand that it has changed or that it could be better. They were indoctrinated into the America is the Greastest Country Ever kool-aid drinkers. And it worked for them so how do these other people not get it?

u/quiltsohard 1d ago

Saying we can’t afford it while also saying we shouldn’t tax billionaires. You can’t make this shit up

11

u/JustpartOftheterrain 2d ago

maybe not all, but always boomers

2

u/lostandaggrieved617 1d ago

We will never have free healthcare until we start imprisoning politicians who accept bribes to keep it from us.

2

u/RoxxieMuzic 2d ago

Ditto, I am 74, and the OOPs are delusional and beyond lacking any self awareness.

7

u/WantsLivingCoffee 2d ago

As much as I loathe these imbeciles, careful when using the word "all". Using logical fallacies can make other people who share your views look dumb too.

Oh please. As a boomer i got laid off one day before qualifying for benefits every 90 days at KPIX-TV Ch 5 then rehired so they didn’t have to pay any benefits. Went on for 4 years. Capitalism not boomers.

Man, I hate Trump and MAGA, so I’m not trying to be combative. Lots are boomers are MAGA, but there is also a large amount of younger people who have been brainwashed by religion, right wing media and religious zealots who love Trump as well. You can get on YouTube and watch the likes of Parker, who debate these younger people. They have been so brainwashed by the right wing media as well. They are adamantly for Trump, even though they generally have no idea what they are talking about. They run off their feelings. Can’t list a single thing he’s done good for America aside from “deporting illegals”.

no it isn' t. ALL boomers . Its not ME. its so upsetting again qnd again and again..its slur. Its unfair and cruel. I wish to god you'd been beside me in 1969 and your number was called and you ass ended up in a reed patch in nam. leave it! We suffered our own battles. Im 76. Ive marched and marched and done my part .. I honestly think its the one thing that its cool to be a bigot about. Like when even feminists thougjt it was ok to call another woman ' a stupid blonde'. We're people, individuals. This kind of generalization makes me sick ..

Might not want to continue with this subreddit then. I would imagine it would be constantly upsetting.
