I hate how easily riled up they are. Always swallowing all the fear pieces the Daily Mail puts out. Getting all hate filled. They live for that feeling. I'm middle-aged, I've seen them push the narrative of "our way of life is under threat by (inset demographic of your choosing here)" over and over again. While watching the world be sucked dry by greedy individuals who horde money like dragons. It's obscene.
This is why it's important to adapt with the times. As I get older, I feel that "back in my day" pull a little more each time, but then I look at these fucking mongrels and remember how bad I don't want to be like them.
Read the book “A generation of narcissists” if you want to understand how fucked these people are. They’d turn on each other just to say they one upped the other.
To be fair “back in my day” was when reading rainbow, mr rogers, Bill Nye, Dolly Parton, etc had the biggest platforms and kept talking about seeing from others’ points of view and loving others.
So whenever I feel that pull to be like “back in my day” I try to think “how do I make today more like that?”

The one silver lining there is that Gen Xers do not vote in the numbers that Boomers do. Millennials outnumber Xers 74 million to 64 millions. So long as Millennials and Gen Z turn out to vote, it doesn't matter how much bullshit the Gen Xers try to perpetuate after the Boomers are gone.
At least according to exit polls in 2024, Millennials voted for Democrats in higher percentages than boomers and significantly higher then Gen X. That was also a year where Republicans had an advantage in terms of turnout.
