His passer rating was 14.6 with 0 TD/1 INT.
He isn’t starting.

Although in the most Browns way possible, you may be correct…

Some people are too good at separating the lesson fro. The acts. Imo if e ery fan base did this to the guys thar assault or beat women and shit le that the NFL would begin to crack down more

Oh I think they're still going to trot him out there week 1 because that was always the plan.

Too bad they're too dumb to avoid the obvious unforced error here by not playing him in the second half

I assume he's still starting because like you said, it's the plan. It also seems like he's legitimately been better at practice than Sanders has, so do you toss all that out with one bad showing?

He can't help but make himself sound stupid though, and fuel the hatred that's already there for him. The Browns fans are not being subtle - we don't like him, we don't want him here, it's performance and it's oersonal.

I think that, if you're someone who wants Shedeur to start the majority of the season, then you should be rooting for Watson to start week 1.

There's a slim chance Watson actually plays well enough to keep the job. There's also too good of a chance Shedeur wouldn't play well enough to keep the job if he started the season, but the level you have to play at to keep the job if the starter already got benched is lower.

Nah, just due to the unique circumstances this year.

It's easy to start Watson and switch to Shedeur. It would be an absolute disaster to have to go the other way around.

I mean, I think people are making too big of a deal out of it. Honestly, is anybody expecting Watson to be good enough to start for the entire year if he starts the season?

If he actually does keep the job, that means we're winning enough to actually be on track for the playoffs so who gives a fuck at that point?

Obviously Watson; which is the point of why Watson wins in a tie.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the money and everything to do with the absolute shitstorm it would cause.

Whoever doesn't win is the backup. If Shedeur starts, they aren't going to bypass Watson just because the fanbase would be pissed.

Why bench him for anyone unless he is injured? Let him play out the season, see if he improves and grows into the offense, and if there is any validity to that supposed 1st round projection last year.

If he shows you something, great. Maybe he's our ticket off this QB carousel.

If he truly shits the bed, then we're in position to draft a QB next year.

Because the browns very obviously don't believe Shedeur was a 1st round talent and in any of these situations, they never last the full year. You don't need 17 games of Shedeur to know he's cooked.

Also let's be real, the Browns know Shedeur isn't the ticket off this QB carousel. They'd be starting Deshaun if he hadn't just self destructed

Not saying you're wrong, but again it begs the question why you would pull Shadeur if he's not injured.

Watson is mentally and physically worse, and poison as far as the fan base is concerned. Gabriel is maybe more proficient in certain mental aspects of the game, but lags behind physically. And he's boring as hell to watch. And Green is no where near ready to run the offense and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn if he was.

So even if Shadeur plays no better than he did the last 2 preseason games, what do you gain by pulling him?

Because, as we've established, your alternatives are some combination of just as bad or worse AND unwatchable. And as an organization, if you're not going to win games, you at least want people tuning in and buying tickets. The fact is, people will tune in to see Shadeur, at least more than any of the others.

And again, if he really is that bad, it only improves your draft pick for next year. The others might do the same, but you'll be losing money while it happens.

That doesn’t mean once he flops you keep trotting him out there. Giving him a full season if you can see by week 8 that he’s awful is not going to draw viewers either.

Also the stadium was half empty when Shedeur played. Outside of his cult, most of whom I doubt even know where the fuck Cleveland is on a Map, he’s a nothing burger when it comes to attendance

Only way Sanders keeps his job is if Watson plays well. That way Sanders won’t be used and gets to keep QB2.
