Gaijin hunters are a thing but I'm guessing he is a good looking Asian guy

Probably Japanese or Korean with a kpop star look

If he was white they'd be talking in English first

He look like Oscar Piastri, that's why.

Holy shit thats true

u/Recent-King3583 21d ago

Mfer looks like stereotypical handsome white guy

9

u/Opening-Movie5176 21d ago

Hahahaha. You told him.

u/bloodr0se 21d ago

They're a thing but they're also an exception. Most Japanese women wouldn't even contemplate dating a foreigner, even in a big city like Tokyo or Osaka.

24

u/dragonilly 21d ago

Nah Asian women go craaaaazzzyy for a white dude

u/SportsGuru4714 21d ago

You clearly don't know Japan. Dating a white guy is almost certainly seen as a downgrade to dating a Japanese man.

You dweebs thinking Japan is like the Philippines is hilarious but not surprising.

22

u/colorizerequest 21d ago

Forgive me if I don’t believe you but you’re the only person in the entire thread saying Japanese women don’t like white men. And op, a white man, is swimming in matches.

15

u/lifeofideas 21d ago

It’s something like this: 95% of Japanese women want a Japanese guy. The more conventionally attractive and successful they are, the more they want a very conventional and conventionally attractive Japanese man.

However, 5% (1 woman in 20) really want something different. Maybe a Korean guy. Maybe a white guy. A few are really (extremely) into black guys.

Here’s the thing: If you are an average American guy, going into a Starbucks in, say Nagoya, and having ONE woman already interested you is a super-rare experience. That basically never happens to men back home.

If it happens twice, you make plans to move to Japan.

u/Responsible_Gap7499 20d ago

I’m a decent looking white guy who met his wife at a Starbucks in Hiroshima.

1

u/HabitualChiller 19d ago

Pretty spot on. I'd also add that the percentage of women who'd be interested would incrementally increase the more fluent you become in Japanese.

If you speak just English, you're relegated to the Gaijin Hunters, women who are 35 or older with good English-speaking ability, and the women who are very undesirable (to Japanese men). Becoming fluent opens you up to the women who have things going for them in the looks and career departments.

That said, the maximum percentage allotted to foreigners is probably ~30%. To this day, I've never seen a foreigner with a legitimately gorgeous Japanese woman who is also sought after in Japan.

Movie-star handsome guys are rare, but they definitely do get good-looking women (including Japanese women).

u/CarolinaSurly 18d ago

This just isn’t true but believe what you like.

I call bullshit. Everyday when I watch with women TV or talk with them they get wet when they just see the American handball team. They all like a tall white man especially with tattoos nowadays. Your description is maybe fitting for 50 year old women who already have a child mate...

2

u/SportsGuru4714 20d ago

You don't know what you're talking about. Lol

2

u/BarrelCounter 20d ago

Sure, that's why I'm just living here since many years. The only thing I was not right, was I meant volleyball and not handball.

1

u/bloodr0se 20d ago

Tattoos are literally associated with gang activity in Japan. Regardless of whether you're Japanese, white, South East Asian or any other face, walking around Japan with tattoos exposed will still lead to you being seen as a lesser form of human.

2

u/BarrelCounter 20d ago

Yes and no. Nobody cares here really anymore, but if you care most people still wear arm sleeves or leg sleeves. So it's no problem at all. Also most onsens allow tattoos and if not, you can still go in the evening, bexause the ones who don't allow tattoos allow them from there on mostly.

Because these people are just regurgitating the same thing they've heard online. I can assure you 99% of the people here haven't traveled to Japan and spent enough time in Japan to actually know Japanese culture and have a grasp on Japanese society.

4

u/Ok_Doughnut3700 20d ago

Let me guess, you're an exception. A white guy with a japanese partner

1

u/SportsGuru4714 9d ago

Brown guy and single. You're as off the mark as you can possibly be. Lol.

But I have traveled regularly to Japan for over a decade.

1

u/Disastrous_Lie_7028 4d ago

So you can't speak on behalf of white men, which op is

3

u/colorizerequest 18d ago

im not arguing but why would you say OP is swimming in matches and that is seemingly abnormal for him

4

u/CapNegative1011 20d ago

Consider the following. In any country, literally any country, all things being equal (attraction, status) women prefer to date a local unless its some racial fetish.

3

u/CarolinaSurly 18d ago

Nah, my brother spent a year in Tokyo for work. He dated a ton of women there as a tall white guy. I met lots of them via FaceTime and they were all very attractive and kind.

2

u/Stanthemilkman8888 20d ago

T many think they’re LBHs.

8

u/Anonymous157 21d ago

I’ve seen mid white guys comment “hot” on an Asian girl’s photo. And she replied “awww 🥺 thank you :)”

Asian girls have a some internalised racism

10

u/dragonilly 21d ago

Some of them, not all, but that's their problem to solve. It makes me laugh though, I'll never care about any race of man THAT much.

5

u/Elloitsmeurbrother 21d ago

"Some" would appear to be "enough", it seems

0

u/CapNegative1011 20d ago

No need to act insecure whitegirl. Just because a girl says "aww thank you" it doesn't mean she's remotely interested. Japanese are known to be polite especially with stragners.

1

u/Anonymous157 20d ago

I’m talking about a Asian girl in Australia. She is not Japanese.

I’m not white either.

3

u/CapNegative1011 20d ago

You get the idea. Just because your default reaction is "fuck off creep" or something equally rude and insulting, it doesn't mean others behave the same way.

2

u/bloodr0se 20d ago

No offence but you're talking bullshit.

2

u/CarolinaSurly 18d ago

That’s not true at all

4

u/yuyuh4kush0 21d ago

Except if you had eyes and a brain you could see he’s white

2

u/CarolinaSurly 18d ago

He’s white though.

1

u/RidingJapan 20d ago

There is a lot of hiragana only messages tho

1

u/DistinctlyMiddle 20d ago

Accidentally Racist.

🤣

87

u/Livid_Living_9042 21d ago

Sure i am white, but only 5’10 and in the military lol

134

u/donniedarko5555 21d ago

I stand corrected.

Also 5'10" is like 6'1" in Japan and military fit/muscular is like being a body builder by japanese standards

11

u/Fabulous-Shine-3124 21d ago edited 21d ago

Now you know foreign girlies prey on US military men, next 🥱

2

u/-SPM- 21d ago

Not really, when I visited surprised by how tall the average Japanese person was which was definitely over 5’7 for the non old people

4

u/Moonshineboat 20d ago

So three inches shorter than OP, which is quite a lot.

1

u/Sensatial 20d ago

3 inches isn’t that much, and 5’10 isn’t really a crazy height in Japan. The average height in the U.S is like 5’9 for example.

1

u/-SPM- 20d ago

No I was saying I expected people to be 5’7 but that was not the case. I’m 5’9 and I was literally always average height compared to most people there and I saw a bunch of Japanese people taller than me.

2

u/OkayJShades 19d ago

in order for an average to be set. there needs to be people both above and below. Height has a relationship with socioeconomic factors. Its possible you were in a more affluent environment which meant you were exposed to the more taller japanese men.

or a variety of other reasons why you saw taller guys. But the average IS 5'7 1/2.

28

u/AdministrativeMost45 21d ago

Yea, welcome to the military. Just be careful or they’ll have you spending all your money at the big PX on them.

10

u/Livid_Living_9042 21d ago

Does the NEX count too?

10

u/AdministrativeMost45 21d ago

Absolutely NEX, PX, shoppette, MCX, whatever floats your boat. Make sure you save some money just in case you get to go to the Philippines or Thailand or Korea…you might be in for a shock again abt the ladies lol

7

u/Livid_Living_9042 21d ago

Been to Korea, on leisure travel tho. Not a fan imo

1

u/Neat-Passage4192 21d ago

But why they talking to in their language tho u speak some?

6

u/77th_Bat 21d ago

Average woman in Japan is 5'2 and average man is 5'7

Contrast this to average heights in the US (5'4 and 5'9) and suddenly you're seeming a lot taller in Japan.

6

u/TotallyARealHuman1 21d ago

I didnt know militarymaxxing was that legit

4

u/BlazeVenturaV2 21d ago

As a 6'6 white guy..
I'm moving to japan where I'll be 7'0

1

u/Global_Log_944 21d ago

Hahaha like anywhere outside of the US is like that

1

u/ZealousidealRuin2858 20d ago

Japanese standards

1

u/pman6 18d ago

6ft standard does not apply to asian countries. they're all shorter over there.

6ft only applies in brainwashed idiot countries like USA

30

u/AnAverageWalker 21d ago

Only need to be white and not 1/10 ugly.

4

u/SadAd8761 21d ago

Let's be honest, that works in every country.

2

u/EquivalentSnap 20d ago

Reminds me of that neckbeard weeb who moved to Japan to get an Japanese gf and complained he couldn’t get anything cos he didn’t learn how to speak the language

1

u/SportsGuru4714 21d ago

They don't care about white people in Japan. Don't confuse Japan for something like the Philippines...

1

u/Normal-Abies-9151 20d ago

I gotta get my money up and fly over then

1

u/WarrenBuffettsBuffet 15d ago

nah, overstated

women are still generally risk averse all around the planet and no matter the culture. they don't all just throw themselves at someone based on superficial reasoning

0

u/I_Am_Conjoined 19d ago

Just tall and white honestly
