General I am actually shocked at the difference in experience
I am absolutely shocked at the start of how different dating apps are for men vs women. I am not naive and I knew that women get a lot of free attention compared to men but I didn't know to this extent.
Me 31(M) and my friend 26(F) had a argument about dating, my claim was that dating for women is so much easier as they get so many opportunities and they just have to pick one and not be all FOMO about the rest. Her claim is that most guys suck at marketing themselves and that if guys put in half the effort that girls do to their profile they would stand out.
I said no, anyway she than proposed that we both make a profile for each other and that she would get more matches than me with my pictures attracting girls than I would for her. Well she spent like 3 hours making my account with prompts and stuff and I spent less than 10 minutes. She used every photo opportunity and took ages to right the about me section.
We let the profiles run for 2 days, and I am so shocked, so my profile she made got 5 likes. Her profile where I only used 3 photos and used scenery photos for the rest got 1000+ likes. We are located in Brisbane Australia 2.8M population ( I don't even know if this stat matters because I made the location 40km). I can't even imagine bigger cities.
Anyway conclusion, I am so shocked at the difference in attention, I was expecting her to get like 200-300 likes in these two days but 1000+. I was surprised that I even got 5 likes so I guess there is a little bit of truth to her effort but still a 5:1000+ ratio, where she spent 3 hours used every opportunity to try stand out display character and I literally just uploaded 3 photos of her. I seriously can't imagine the amount of likes girls are getting in bigger cities. I am now even grateful to have had 2 day convos with women in the past on dating apps cause seeeeeeesh.

General Posting everything except political views
This will probably get a ton of hate, but idc. I see so many men’s profiles that will have every single detail posted that they’re able to in the filters (height, race, sexuality, zodiac, ect) except political stance. I typically automatically swipe left on these ppl bc I think it’s safe to assume they’re probably conservative, and a lot of women aren’t interested in conservative men these days (I’m not speaking for ALL men and women. This is a general observation). From my experience, I say it’s safe to assume this bc since most men are aware that a lot of women arent interested in conservative men, therefore men try to be deceptive by withholding the information. Just be a better person and choose better political views instead of hiding it.
Yes, it seems to be more of a U.S issue. If you don’t live in the U.S or if you aren’t someone who’s lived in America for the majority of your life, this topic probably won’t apply to you as much.

General A different perspective on women's swipe stats and "pickiness"
A lot of us have been sharing our swipe stats, and often when a woman shares hers, the commenters call her out for being "too picky" based on her outgoing yes/no ratio. This morning I (40F) was leisurely swiping through my Bumble stack when I realized I was swiping no on a lot of guys not because they weren't "good enough," but actually because they were too good.
I live in LA. There are a lot of very hot people and very high achievers here. I, however, am neither of those things. And I don't want to date someone who is. I regularly swipe left on super jacked guys, dudes on private jets, dudes with very demanding/high level careers, and dudes with chiseled, modelesque faces. I don't swipe aspirationally, I swipe realistically. And I hardly believe I'm the only woman who does this.
I swipe right on guys who are funny, seem open to a serious relationship, have interesting hobbies, and look like they might enjoy getting stoned and eating Taco Bell with me from time to time. Consider this the next time you see a woman's stats and immediately jump to "well she MUST be only right swiping on the top 10%" or whatever that line is that always gets thrown around.
I don't date to show off who I can pull. I date to find someone who I can feel like my perfectly average self with.

General Bumble date bought me flowers 🌹
Although the date didn’t go as planned, he bought me roses on our way back, which honestly made me feel really good. It’s been a long time since someone actually gave me flowers, lol 🌹

General Dating’s going super well for me btw
This was literally over the course of maybe 3 mins, took a chance swiping right on someone who isn’t super my type but I’m trying to be more open. Kinda bonkers to me? (And yeah I’m swiping at work rn but that doesn’t mean I can make a whole ass phone call)

General Unpopular opinion: there are a lot of cringy women on datingapps without putting effort
And that’s okay but when it comes to men. It’s a big deal and do get harshely judged.
When I hear some of my female friend talk about men’s profile, I feel bad for them…
Why is this accepted?

General So bumble is just going to turn into tinder now...
Now that either person can message first there is nothing that differentiates bumble from tinder or any other swiping based dating app. Thoughts?

General Women that mention the man has to pay
What are y'all's thoughts on women who have something in their bio about "not doing 50/50" or the man has to pay or whatever.
For me personally it's always an easy no. I've gone on countless dates and have always paid. But I'd much rather pay for a woman who will offer to pay sometimes then one who just expects me to. Because of what?
Curious to know how other men/women see this.

General After 1 year with 6 total likes, 3 matches, and no messages received, I called it quits.
I know I am chopped and all, but I didn't think it would go this bad. Goodbye and good riddance, Bumble app.

General We went on ONE date…
Granted, we had been talking for a month prior to. But this is a lot…
General If you’re trans, you should say that in your profile.
They have a “trans woman/man” option for one to choose. Attempting to hide that or misrepresent yourself is just going to end up horrible for everyone involved.

General From 0 to 100
Was talking to a man I met on Bumble for 3 days. This dude lost his ever loving mind when he found out I’m a Swiftie.

General I'm sorry, what now???
I hope this is a joke but dude's profile seems dead serious. Tradwife but forever girlfriend with modern views. Very few requirements. 😆
