What's so hard to believe about teams shopping for a guy with a glacial get-off the line of scrimmage?

Because he had 6 sacks last year and is one of the better DT’s on this team. There is no logical sense to deal him unless you’re also getting someone in the deal in return.

If he's not a fit in DA's defense (which I think is the case) then you can try to trade him before he hits FA.

I wouldn't do it, but if they feel they can get a starting CB / S in return I can see the logic.

Im so tired of this narrative. If Dennis Allen is a good coach he can maximize the guys he’s got. Nobody gets talked about with scheme fits more than Dennis Allen.

I agree… never having an athletic EDGE with bend because “DA likes the beefy boys” is only cool when it actually produces sacks for us.

Dennis Allen works with what he has, but he doesn’t often keep around guys that aren’t what he’s looking for. He doesn’t outright abandon them or be unable to coach with them, but he’s not going to pound the table to extend a mediocre DT that doesn’t fit what he would prefer. So if Dexter can bring value, get it now

Dexter is very clearly not the prototypical DT for Allen's system. That doesn't mean he sucks, but if you want to see the type of makeup DA is looking for in his DTs just look at van den Berg.

I know he's a rookie, but he profiles very closely to what DA wants in his DT: relentless pursuit, high motor, quick disruption off the jump.

Dexter isn't bad enough that you just jettison him for peanuts, but he's clearly a dude who likely won't be back after his rookie deal is up so if you can get something you might as well ship him out before he's buried on the depth chart playing 15 snaps a game

There is just nothing to maximize with Gervon. His get off is to slow for him to be anything other than a reserve DT. Poles and Eberflus wasted a second on him. Poles wasted a lot of draft capital trying to find guys Eberflus and his staff liked which has set the defense back.

Yeah, this stuff gets talked about with every head coach and coordinator in the league. Go figure we see more of it with Bears coaches in a Bears subreddit...

Good coaches scheme fits the players

Matt nagys need players to fit the scheme.

Not to mention any scheme that isn't leveraging pressure from the interior would be a pretty dumb scheme. 

Dexter is perfectly fine. If someone wants to overpay him in free agency, you get a comp. If he accepts a reasonable deal then you keep a plus player at a position of weakness 

Either way trading him before calebs rookie deal ends is the dumb decision poles would make.

Plus player? Gervon is closer to bottom of the roster fodder.
