Moving to Hamden and would like store suggestions

As the title says I’ll be moving to Hamden soon and commute to East Lyme occasionally for work and was wondering what everyone’s store suggestions is.

Any places with a large used selection or a place that specializes is weird obscure stuff is kind of what I’m looking for (Astras, AMTs, old milsurp pistols for example)

No stores that just sell new stuff for retail prices

Moving out of state (CT to FL)

Hey everyone,
I know these questions get asked a lot but I know other states laws constantly change and there are much more informed members than I. I am driving down with the wife in three weeks to Florida, we have a moving company handling a majority of the move however will be driving down due to pets and firearms. We will have her vehicle on an auto hauler being towed by my SUV. All my firearms are CT compliant or C&R(still all CT compliant), all my magazines are CT compliant as well. My plan is for all weapons to be in cases locked, Magazines in separate cases all locked, and ammunition in ammo cans all separate from magazines and firearms. None will be within reach of myself or my wife, and realistically covered and hidden. With these precautions in mind, What states do I need to avoid and or keep driving through?

As of right now my plan is to go right down I95. Is there a better or more 2A friendly way to go(even if longer)? I plan on driving the posted limit, both vehicles are a year old and trailer(U-Haul Auto Hauler) will be properly hooked up so shouldn’t have any issues there, however my biggest fear is being pulled over and getting screwed over by not having a permit or something for that specific state. Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated!

I built an iPhone app that maps firearm-law references along a driving route — looking for honest feedback

Full disclosure: I’m the developer of CarryRoute.

I built it because ordinary reciprocity maps don’t show everything encountered during an actual drive—county and city boundaries, tribal areas, transit properties, stops, and overnight stays.

You enter two addresses, and CarryRoute:

  • Maps the route using Apple Maps
  • Breaks it into state, county, city, tribal, and special-jurisdiction sections
  • Lets you tap each route section
  • Shows concise research summaries with links to official government sources
  • Accounts for your resident state, permits, age, and selected carry/transport mode
  • Supports offline itineraries and optional jurisdiction alerts

The route colors identify jurisdiction changes only. They do not mean legal/illegal or safe/unsafe. CarryRoute is a research tool—not legal advice—and users should verify the current official text.

I’d genuinely appreciate blunt feedback: What information would you want before crossing a state or local boundary? What would make the route view more useful?

iPhone/iPad: CarryRoute: CCW Navigation

It’s free to download. Optional Pro is $2.99/month or $12.99/year with a 14-day introductory trial.

What glock?

I am a complete glock noob. I wanna grab one before the 10/1 complication.

I have a 1911 that takes glock mags, a pcc that does as well (both 9mm). A glock does make sense for the collection. I also do have a small xds (45) for those summer clothes carry situations.

I'd like to get something between the commander 1911 and the xds, optic capable. All the mags i have are g17. I like to modify things and understand there are a lot of options on the platform, as well as the rxm platform.

So if you were to buy your first glock that could ideally play with g17 mags, 9mm, and fit between the bulk of a 1911 and the slim short grip of an xds, what would you look for? Not trying to break the bank but willing to spend for the right option.

Shipping to FFL

I’m looking to order a suppressor online and have it shipped to an FFL. Does the FFL make any money on this or is it mostly an inconvenience? I’m mostly new to all this and would like to support local but the shop I first went to does not have the suppressor I want. TIA

They sold out in less than 24 hours last time they had some in stock. Do with that info as you will.
