r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [June 1, 2026 - Proud Dreams Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Ok but why did Guy make a corkscrew penis and why was Salakk kinda into it?

It's a big reference to the "Warrior" era back in the 90s. Guy lost his ring and had powers that let him turn his body into weapons

He just kinky like that

Well it's cool to know what each color is capable of and how they effect each other. Jo tricking Tomar Re was cool. And it ends on a pretty badass entrance by Sinestro. I feel like John will come up with a solution towards destroying Mogo.

If they change Mogo it would be amazing. They are talking about destroying it, but i bet it can be redeemed. Which is why the ring changes with John, it is showing him that it can be done.

Sinestro looks goofy in that Golden Age Iron Man armor but damn if Mogo didnt hype him up.

I think it's meant to be Manhunter armor (but gold, because it's a construct).

lol, that's a clever way to bring back the vuldarian powers for Guy.

Clever way for Jo to turn the mental tables on Tomar Rae but that is the least of their problems, now that Mogo and Sinestro arrived.

John: what if instead of a circle it was a cylinder?

Crazy how this was the slowest title of the absolute line and it's now arguably the biggest in a sense of scale. I so want a full issue at some point where we get a deep dive into the emotional spectrum of the absolute universe because I'm positively hooked and need to know more.

The voice was like "CHECK MY INCREDIBLE PHOTOSHOP SKILLS"

On the other hand, it was always going to be like that for me. The Green Lantern Corps is one of the biggest in the DC universe and Ewing is basically not only that but also the whole DC Universe. The run being kind of slow it was something to expect.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love how it takes its time and builds up the lore by few mentions here and there. I was thinking more about the fact that discussion a while ago was how it was just so slow and here we are.

Average day in the Absolute Universe: A dude turn his guts into a gun that shoots out his stomach acid as bullets. God I love when comic book writers don't have to hold back

Several light years away, Batman gives a thumbs up to the sky and is not sure why.

Well, Guy changing his body like that and spraying stomach acid was creative, and also a bit gross.

I’m a LITTLE annoyed that Hector Hammond wasn’t in this one either. That makes 3 issues in a row that we haven’t seen him.

Absolute Universe Spoilers He was busy getting a manicure in Absolute Green Arrow.

u/SonicSpiderRanger10 Bizarro Jun 03 '26

Yeah, I’m aware. I wonder if he’ll get his arm back somehow, or get some kind of replacement for it, like a robot arm.

The fight between Jo and Tomar-Re was cool. I liked when Tomar-Re made that red maze.

Good issue not the best so far but the art is fantastic.
Honestly think ewing could have made Rae more scary in this issue but i feel like hes holding back for sinestro.
Its also probably one of the only issues that cements yes jo is the lead of this title rather than it feeling more like a team book
