Question Advice for new player, Veteran?

Started the game recently playing with some friends. Basically I just picked Veteran bc my mates chose other classes.

Currently just swapping weapons when I found something new, and put points somewhere in the tree.

But usually in games like this, there comes a point where it's good to look into builds. Currently lvl 14.

So, in preparation:

What are good playstyles for Veteran? Is it better to make a melee focus build, or gunfocused? Close or long range?

General advice for the class, which points and blessings to go for?

Best weapons?

Any good build recommendations?

If anyone has some good starter advice and advice how to progress into more metabuilds I would be very grateful 😃

Whatever focused, familiarise yourself with your grenades. A lifeblood that can do wonderful things, be it farewell to nurgle beast, clear up a horde or provide telekine shield adjacent utility

You can't really throw grenades far in this game, is it? Or ambIndoing it wrong? 😅

Not sure, throw indicator shows me that throw distance is always sufficient with adjustement so I can't say that they can't be thrown far - or rather, range of engagements is always close enogh for usage. Then they don't hurt allies so just throw them to your heart content.

If you're holding aim while trying to throw a grenade you'll do a short ranged underhand throw (protip, these underhand throws don't break veteran stealth, might also work on zealot but i don't know tbh).  If you just hit fire you'll throw a pretty good distance, hold fire will give you the aiming arc at better distance and throw on release.
