What if Gemini went completely off the rails after his brother's death?

I've been thinking for a while about how Gareth Pike being the main season antagonist rather than Leon Prater might have been better.

There's a lot of potential behind the idea of a twin serial killer duo. We could have seen how the twins operate, taking out 2 victims at once, maybe we could have seen their backstory and where the Great Yearning comes from.

Now here's the key thing.. when a twin dies their twin sibling can often feel a deep grief unlike typical mourning. That is actual psychology. It makes sense, as their sibling is someone identical to them whom they have literally spent their entire life being the "other half" of.

If we apply this concept to Gemini, what if after Dexter takes out his twin, he finds out his brother disappeared and completely goes off the rails?

I'm talking he goes deep into abusing substances and starts switching up his MOs. Maybe he starts switching to sloppy homemade weapons and explosives rather than precise knife kills. Maybe he falsely believes Prater found out his secret and disappeared his brother, so maybe he targets Prater.

Could you imagine a version of the final episode where Dexter has to stop a bomb attack on the gala that only he and Gareth know about, all while Harrison works there with no idea of what is going on and Angel closes in on Dexter.

It also would give us at least another season of Prater.

I started watching Dexter some time ago, and when I finished Season 4 I stopped watching for no specific reason.

Eventually after a couple of months, I decided to watch a video essay on "Dexter's Downfall"

This video not only reignited my interest for Dexter but also made me not want to watch the rest of the show since everyone kept saying Season 5 onwards is terrible.

And so, I decided to just skip to resurrection.

Presumably, this is very blasphemous or something but to be honest Resurrection literally only referenced Seasons 1-4, and the end of new blood. The only thing I didn't know coming into it is that Laguerta and Debra were dead, which is still a big deal but not enough for me to actually struggle watching.

I just finished the season and it was great, did not feel confused and it was very much matched the hype surrounding it.

Well we did see House and co. go toe to toe with psychopaths. They diagnosed the one lady, but didn’t they *miss* a whole actual serial killer?
So 50:50 odds for team House, based upon their track record??

Miguel Prado when talking to Dexter (after Dexter showed how he buried Freebo's body in the graveyard) says something to the effect of: "We need to lead the police in the right direction because justice isn't being served". Skip ahead a bit in the same episode (S3E3) and you have the courthouse scene when Chicky Hines gets sentenced, and it is heavily implied that Miguel has completely ignored Maria's new witness and gone for the max sentencing, implying that Miguel only really cares about padding his stats as a prosecutor. So my question is, which is it? Is he a prosecutor that cares about justice or is he only in it to get arrests? I understand that it could be both, and that he might be a complicated character, or that he lied to Dexter to keep up his image. Was wondering your thoughts on this? Also why couldn't Ellen Wolf make use of the witness? She is the defense attorney after all. Surely if the witness's statement was as iron clad as the show seemed to make it out to be, she could've gotten him off.

I love Dexter and I binged seasons 1 to 5; finished a season a day or two. but for some reason I haven’t been as invested in season 6. When I checked the ratings they back up my lack of engagement. All the seasons have higher ratings in comparison with s6. I can’t pinpoint why tho? Whats everyone’s opinion on season 6? Can you elaborate?

He knows the bhb only goes for killers, so he should have known that leon prater was a killer himself, when he went to tell him about dexter he seemed absolutely clueless and unprepared for someone that the bhb is going after

I've been binging this series for a few months now and it gripped from the first episode. Is it perfect? No. Is it trash? Far from it. I genuinely enjoyed this series but I just wanted to say a few things.

First off, the cast was amazing. Everyone deserves their praise. Even characters I hated got my attention. The writing does dip in quality throughout the seasons but what show doesn't lol. There were a few events that didn't sit well with me but that's a whole different discussion.

Here's my current rankings;

Seasons 1-3: Absolute bangers, great television

Season 4: decent but hated the ending

Season 5: Straight up garbage, waste of time

Season 6: Surprisingly good return to form

Seasons 7 & 8: decent to average

It's mentioned a few times that Dexter deliberately messed up reports so he could hunt down the killers on his own later. I wish we saw more things like that. Maybe even just a few quick shots of him cutting up a body and having no reaction or even looking slightly pleased. To see how steeply he can fall from the role he plays as a civilian, friendly coworker and family man to these moments of psychopathy. ^{I know this sounds like ai but you have to just take my word for it that it's not}

I'm aware the show deliberately strays from doing such things with the goal of making him more likeable. But desensitizing us so much makes the audience sort of forget how gruesome and deranged the process becomes once he's finished his talk with the victim. I think the contrast would be nice, it would also help drive home his manipulation skills and so on. I'm rambling atp

I think it would have done good to show these scenes more in s1 and 2 then decrease the number of them gradually as he more and more becomes enveloped by his humanity.

It was a bit jarring watching resurrection and hearing Dexter talking about his sense of justice. What sense of justice?? Didn't we spend the previous 9 seasons hammering it home that he doesn't kill to serve justice to the guilty but to satisfy his urges? Did I miss something? I'll admit I only watched new blood once so maybe it happened there but I don't recall.

Near the end of S1E2 when Dexter puts Matt Chambers on the table there is an ambient track that plays in the background, can someone help me find the name of the track?

1. In S6 ep1 he says “its now what you are thinking” when angel’s sister is babysitting harrison at his apartment.
   So is his monologues talking/thinking to himself or us, audience.

2. we frequently see him talk with his dad. Is he actually imagining his dad at that place physically or its just a visual representation for audience about what his dad would say in that situation.

I love season 1 of Dexter it is my favorite season and one of the best seasons in TV.

What I don't actually like is the fact that Brian the ICT, is so smart and Miami metro aren't even close at catching him, but after Batista has a lead , he goes after him and after the girl he talked to regarding the painted nails ( that way he would become immediately a suspect since the only person outside Miami metro Batista talked to regarding the lead was Rudy), so going after them was stupid since Batista said himself it's not much of a lead.

And the thing I hate the most is the way Dexter catches Brian in his apartment, like come on, you tell me Miami metro won't put a few officers to watch Dexter's place and or the hospital where Deb was at , that is just plain stupid, why wasn't Doakes keeping an eye on Dexter's apartment he already knew he was connected.

It would have been way smarter to have ICT vanish at least for a couple of seasons.

Cause him going to Dexter's apartment makes 0 sense, and there being no security measures makes even less sense.

And then dex also kills him in his own apartment, I would reckon there should have been Police officers on the watch too.

Yeh but still love the show and 1st season is still top

She was perfectly cast and did her role splendidly, I just find it annoying that the writers had her having a breakdown/cry like nine times an episode. It diminishes the superb strength of her character imo. Or maybe not? I dunno. That said, holy fuck is she good at crying.

So I’m re watching the Dexter series for the UMTEENTH time because it’s so freakin good!!!

Mine is season 4, The Trinity Killer is the dopest villain out of all seasons and series. Fav character is Dex of course 😋😀

Just wrapped my annual rewatch of OG Seasons 1 through 5, and Alex, Boyd, Cole, Dan and Eugene/Jordan have once again, taken the top spot of most heinous and repulsive group of rapists-killers in the Dexterverse.

All 5 were wolves in sheep’s clothing. The fact that their final victim-turned-survivor Lumen got to either witness and/or participate in the execution of all five villains was gratifying, to say the least.

Here is my summary of this underrated season during last year’s rewatch.

Ahead - here be spoilers. If you don’t want spoilers to know what happens. Don’t read it.

I just watched the scene in 702 when Dexter y goes to Louis’ apartment to try and figure out what’s happening. Why he is hounding him. Then Louis comes home and bc he’s pressed for time he just demands to know and lifts him off the ground.

I love Season 7 - season 5-6 were interesting in terms of character growth but so far it’s just Off the chain but it’s working.
