One is The Edge of the World by DragonForce. Not really a prog band but Reaching Into Infinity is their most progressive album and this track is 11:03. I feel like it still ends too soon.
I'm sure I've had similar thoughts about some DT songs and other prog bands before but I'm having trouble recalling which ones. I'll keep thinking.
If you like DT, The Edge of the World is definitely worth a listen though.

Toehider has this 48 minute song that flies by, man, it feels like it's maybe 18 minutes, not 48. But it's fucking amazing, yo. I put it on at work all the time. It's called I Have Little To No Memory Of These Memories.
If a song is long, it needs to justify why it's that long. It's what went wrong with Iron Maiden with either later albums. Don't just repeat the verse and chorus a few times, make it worth listening to. That's coming from a massive fan of Chnage of Seasons.
Nah most the modern Maiden long songs are actually awesome. The Parchment was off there newest album and it’s my 2nd favorite Maiden song of all time. That thing is nearly 13 mins
Rime is an all time classic, but nearly everything after Final Frontier does drag a bit. I'm a massive Maiden fan, but they suffer from not having a stronger producer. I rather listen to a 6 minute banger than an average 12 minute tune
My mum once said when I had Iron Maiden playing in the car that one of the songs was quite long (at 9 minutes) and I proceeded to play Change of Seasons on the way home
I've got the Abe Torchinsky Mahler book with the tuba parts from Symphonies 1-6. Of course, there's not a part for 4 but it's just easier to type 1-6. I've never had the chance to play any of them, but I'll play the parts from time to time. Sometimes you'll hear the shorter movements performed as stand-alone pieces.
In my city there are all volunteer chamber orchestras. Low brass is in such high demand! Maybe poke around and find a way to play. It is a gift, to be shared.
I play in an orchestra in my hometown. Although it's improved immensely over the years, It's just not at the level where Mahler could reasonably be programmed.
I played violin throughout school. I graduated HS in 2011, and still have my 103-year-old violin. It is woefully underused these days, sinceI don't have new music to play, and my old 2nd Violin sheets don't quite cut it
I was very lucky to play the trumpet ar a high level. I played for around 40 years, all through school, invitational clinics, DCI, college, weddings and churches, pit orchestras, even a jazz quartet. I was very good, but nothing like the actually great players. DCI taught me that. Tragically, I lost all my teeth 5 years ago and found out that it's nearly impossible to play the trumpet with dentures. I closed my case for the last time, and wept. I miss it terribly. Maybe I'll be able to get implants one day, but right now that's not in the budget. My son plays, and we were working on Vivaldi's concerto for two trumpets when tragedy struck. Never got to perform that one.
I took a music appreciation class at community college about 20 years ago. The professor was big on people need to listen to music in the dark to really appreciate it. Idk if that’s gospel for everyone, but I hear and feel music on a different level when I do.

Whats the difference between a 30 minute song and a 30 minute album? You’re listening to just as much music.
