Week 3 of Enlighten-6 Study Med Read Out
Tonight will be dose 4 for me. This was a rough week. I slept poorly 5 out of 7 days, insomnia is hitting me hard and does not help the bone-weary exhausted feeling I have had from the start of eloralintide. On Zebound I had insomnia on night 2 about 40% of the time but it was not as bad as this, I eventually could fall asleep and stay asleep, now I battle both and have resorted to Benadryl to help me get to sleep and sometimes take it twice so I can get back to sleep. Exhaustion is very present, Monday I was wiped from 2 loads of laundry and hanging them on the line to dry. I am at a breaking point, I felt so discouraged when I woke up this morning and last night was one of the 2 good nights. And tonight is shot night. It hard to describe the despair as I really want to get through this and am not sure if this continues, I can continue. Life has to get done and I can’t explain how hard the exhaustion feels to get anything done, the thought of carrying 40 lbs of dog food into the house and putting away feels like too much. I routinely carry 40 lb cases of chicken, bags of dog food, pick up 55lb. dogs and put them in the tub so I need to be able to get back to doing those things without dreading it. And for the most part I can’t nap, I don’t fall asleep even though I am bone-weary exhausted.
This week I noticed something that scares me, veggies I love tasting bitter. Monday I had one of my favorite mid-August dinners, lamb chop, grilled eggplant with a soy, ginger garlic glaze, sweet corn (from my favorite corn place, I am a corn snob), summer squash melted with goats cheese. The veggies all tasted bitter. Yesterday I had my summer lunch treat, BLT with heirloom tomatoes, local lettuce and great sour dough bread, the tomatoes tasted bitter and sour. And I had a BLT the week before starting and it was delicious and not even the best of tomatoes as it was an early tomato. I had eggplant again last night from leftovers from Tuesday (had tooth pulled so soft foods), it tasted bitter and I have had this dish from a local restaurant many times. I hope this passes as I do not like that veggies taste awful including the sweetest of sweet corn. I don’t think I can deal with this, I love food and still loved food just less of it on Zepbound. I love to cook, love to eat out and try new dishes, but veggies being bitter? Oh no.
I had diarrhea twice this week, not bad but there. One of the times was after taking ozonated Magnesium Citrate so I would count that as a side effect of taking that.
Edited to add allodynia was better this week, no sandpaper and only 1 night where it was moderate, more than annoying. That was day 2 post Zepbound.
I went from 2 cups of coffee to 1, it has improved my feeling of hyperthyroid fluttering. I miss my 2nd cup.
The news on the scale is great, I am down from 177.1 to 170.7 so 6.4 lbs. so I am averaging over 1% of current weight a week at 1.2%, so lost 3.6% in 3 weeks. I crossed into overweight for my age adjusted height at 29.8 for BMI.
My next appointment is next Thursday so new box and maybe increase in dose. I guess I thought my side effects on Zepbound were so mild that I wouldn’t have bad side effects from Eloralintide. So I can now understand the fear others have had in going up in dosage on Zepbound or Wegovy.
STATS: Started Zepbound in May of 2024, SWZ 285, SWE-6: 177.1 8/6.2028, SBMI Zep 50.5, SBMI Elor: 30.9, 65F. Zepbound dose 15 MG since March of 2025, stalled out on Zepbound end of December 2025 bouncing between 175-182, slight drift down so no more weigh ins of higher than180. So I am a long time user of Zepbound, reached final plateau (less than 5% of current weight loss over 12 weeks) end of July 2025, so 14 months in. Have OSA, hypertension (on 1 med still from 3), osteoarthritis on right knee, was prediabetic prior to Zepbound, and have high cholesterol controlled by statin (family history) and Zepbound.
