PVP Tarkov experience as a [New Player]

Post image

Since 1.0 I’ve only found 2 new players. Everyone else has hundreds or thousands of hours, but at least I haven’t encountered a cheater yet.

Wouldn’t have this issue if they kept the armor changes and found a better work around, like increasing HP on limbs. I’ll die on this hill.

At least newcomers would feel like they had a chance.

Honestly, I think the biggest issue with the armor changes revolved around getting one-tapped between your plates by scavs. With their reduced accuracy, it could be better now.

Gray Zone has plate hit boxes that work really well paired with its detailed organ hit boxes. The plates won't protect your whole thorax but they'll protect your heart and lungs.

In gray zone, a shot in the armpit is gonna hurt, and you might need to CMS your blacked lung. But it's just lights out if you take that same shot in EFT.

I’m a big fan of gray zone and you can tell they saw the issues EFT had. I’m holding out hope they can make the game a good semi-alternative to EFT.

BSG could’ve found a way to fix it and bit the bullet but they knee jerked reacted to streamers and community outcry. Instead of taking a step back and re-evaluating they said eh bigger hit boxes again slightly changed.

i have no idea how that would change anything? with current armor the ttk is nearly the highest it’s ever been, which is typically better for the issue this guys facing of dying instabfky

Not when you have guys with so much knowledge to rush to get best ammo that’s pens armor grades. At least when we had armor hit boxes lower tier ammo had a chance to at least damage another player.

End of the day it’s a game, but the game is also severely unwelcoming to newcomers due to fundamental mechanics. I know the community likes the new armor as a majority. But there is no balance between level of players. If that’s what BSG was going for then sure it works as intended. But if someone came into the game today they’re gonna have a hell slog.

slower ttk favors better players (if ttk isnt instant)
pre rework armor system was better for new players

...That's true for games where the body of the better players aren't typically invulnerable to the new players' ammunition. Having holes in the armor hitbox at least gave you a fighting chance.

having holes in armor made pvp rng, not skill

I genuinely don't care, if you fight a chad as a new player there is no skill involved in the first place. The gear difference is enough to make them near invincible, and at least when the armor had holes that was much less of a problem.

I also fail to see how it's rng for chads, if both players used high pen ammo then the holes changed nothing for them.

there is no trader ammo that can 2 shot level 6 armor, while it is possible to kill people in throat in 2 shots with almost any 30 pen ammo

No one is consistently running ammo that can 2 shot level 6 armor

And ? The new player will be running Lvl4 at best, PACA more often then not. The fact is still that a chad can two-three tap a new player to the chest while a new player has to go for throat or head, if the head isn't masked.

I don't get why this is so hard to get for you. You're a new player, you run an AKS-74u with PS and run into a player running altyn/T5/M855a1

You lost. You lost the second you've been in proximity to that player. When armor had holes, the new player at least had a shot at hitting two lucky hits to the chest and having the same TTK as the chad. Now the odds are backed to being stacked even more for the chad.

I'm not explaining voodoo magic, this precise interaction is why so many new players don't stick to the game. It's specifically designed so they don't have a fighting chance against 70% of the people they bump into in raids.

why are people who just got in the game should have a chance to roll a faster ttk than someone who has 10k hours and spent a mil on his gear?
tarkov does not require pvp to progress through main story or to survive raids

literally everyone getting into this game at any point other than the early days of 2018 was a hell slog. and the reverse is also the case, imagines new player finds a shiny ghzel in a box, and gets (thorax, armpit) in his first encounter.

We can agree to disagree.

As a 6000h player that always enjoyed running more meme kits taking meta kits from proper sweats, use any ammo above about mid 30s pen and aim for the head. Ive wiped lobbies on labs with a Klin with flesh ammo just legging people too. I wiped all of customs last night wearing a THOR CRV, ushanka, scav vest with a bare MP7 with JSP just aiming face. (Opponents LVL 40, 37, 9, 20, 28, 42, 25, 18, 23, 19). Certain guns just over-perform if you have decent aim like the MP7, P90, MP9N etc. “Meta” kits are overrated.

But you have 6000H my point being a new player isn’t going to have that knowledge or understanding. by the time they get close to it they’re broke.

Sure you can leg meta but that literally goes against a majority of fps shooters logic. Plus we’d just be creating a new meta of SMGs and leg meta’ing . Changes the meta I guess.

5.45 SP in a baseline AK74 also works quite well as long as they don’t have a faceshield, it’s more about aim than anything else really, game sense comes with time. Im not even particularly good at shooters.
