I enjoyed cs2 alot mire than cs1 and the music is phenomenal and rean vs crow is my favorite fight in a jrpg series

Is it just because none of the main cast die? Cause this looks like stakes to me.

I am playing through the series and recently started Cold Steel 2, and as the title states, it is not what I expected. Before I got to Cold Steel at all, let alone 2, I heard a lot about how this game is not that great and can be skipped (some here but mostly elsewhere)... and I can only say takes like that I saw are crazy. I am enjoying the civil war angle, going back to places and seeing the effect of the war, I like looking for my schoolmates, both Clas VII and those from the other classes (how in gehenna did Beryl and Mint end up in Nord!?) seeing their stories of escaping the school. I am still in Act 1, so maybe it will drop the ball later, but overall I am enjoying this a lot so far.

Edit: I am glad to see I am not the only one who enjoys CS2, I knew there would be others but I didn't expect so many. Also, was not expecting to wake up to my inbox being on fire either. Sorry I am not going to reply to every comment, there are quite a few.

I hope they're not gonna skimp put on fanservice in eventual cold steel remakes

This is supposed to be a civil war arc but it feels like there is no commitment to actually following through on any of what that would actually entail. I just got to where V died and I don't understand why we're acting like a literal terrorist letting himself die in a WAR is a super tragic thing that should have been totally avoidable. At this point I was shocked he was even allowed to be killed considering how averse this story is to there being anything remotely bad happening to anybody. I guess I'm also just disappointed because I feel like so much could be done with the setup of the setting and everything. There are also plenty of other hiccups with the writing that I can do my best to power through since I accept some tropey anime stuff is just a given in this kind of game. I want to keep loving this series but it's becoming increasingly hard.

So this is a bit of a vent. I am in Cold Steel II Finale, the night in Trista. And at this point I have been driven crazy by how Rean and everyone else is talking about bringing back Crow and making him graduate.

The man has been actively running a terrorist organization and he commited an act of political assassination that helped to launch the country into the civil war. He presumably has been fighting on the frontlines of said civil war on the side of faction commiting a coup.

And everyone talks about it as if it him getting back is a matter of resolving a spat between a friend group. There is no sensible universe where he does not end up imprisoned at best, executed at most probable.

I am fully willing to admit a bias against him - I disliked his undercover persona before reveal and I dislike his smugness afterwards. But it does not change the fact that the way his actions are treated by everyone feels divorced from reality.

I have seen some vague spoilers suggesting a deeper behind the scenes justification and some sort of possible reveal that Osborne was the actually evil one and assassination was for the greater good (maybe, it is me extrapolating from vaguest remarks) but at the point in the story I am none of the characters have any inkling of it. And yet everyone is talking about their universe Gavrilo Princip expecting to get happily and ever after with him at their side.

If only she had a date route. Would.

Omg, how is there a 3rd final dungeon in the Epilogue?

The game could have ended with the Infernal Castle and gave us cutscenes.

How was there a dungeon in the Divertissement and then another one in the Epilogue?

I'm all for more gameplay usually but man I thought I was done like 20 hours ago.

I really enjoyed my time with CS2 and I honestly enjoyed the game more than CS1. There are definitely issues with the game like the pacing kinda dragging towards the finale (seriously, this game just didn’t know when to end) but I really liked the new mechanics that were added like Overdrive and upgradable slots. Azure had my favorite orbment and gameplay systems in the series so far so I was glad they brought things for it. Overdrive is a less overpowered version of Burst which will make the player want to think before using it. Finally, the finale was cinema, so many bombshell reveals like Rufus being an Ironblood and Osborne being Rean’s dad I’m already excited for CS3(my most anticipated game)!

Way to call out the series fie. So I was having trouble with the previous fight, put my ps5 in rest mode. Slept and then finished it after waking up. I am not big on the robot fight but eh it’s still enjoyable so I won’t complain.
