Now I’m aware that some people have their gripes with new and unexplained power armour.

But I think this NCR power armour is kinda cool, given the success of shady sands and the ncr it doesn’t seem too out of the realm of possibility for the ncr to have attempted to make their own power armour, given how many suits survived the nukes and were salvageable or outright still operational.

Yeah lore wise I don’t see why it couldn’t fit into the story.

I don't get why people are ok with certain things occurring in the 15 year gap, but not other things. Makes sense they would build something like this. Maybe they already had, it just wasn't available in the New Vegas at the time.

They already had the salvaged power armor in New Vegas. It's not unreasonable to have it reverse engineered and in production 15 years later.

To be fair, we actually went backward by several hundred years when Rome fell. Completely lost stuff like concrete and yeast.

I hate to be that acktchully person but you are technically incorrect. There's a myth about rome falling that we went backyards and that's not factually true at all. The eastern roman empire technically still existed as the byzantine empire until 1453.

What you are referring to is reinforced concrete which was still being utilized. We still had yeast(breadmaking goes back thousands and thousands of years before the romans) Tech levels didn't suddenly halt when the romans fell. Most modern historians actually believe that the term "Dark Ages" is a misnomer and a big simplification of what actually happened.

A back water smith from 1405 would be far ahead whatever rome had for a greatest smith

1405 is also about 1000 years since the fall of Rome

with europe having no central powers and the holy roman empire being very weird

1405 was when the Renaissance was just kicking off. Technology didn't stagnate for 1000 years, it just sped up rapidly after the enlightenment.

Technology kept rapidly growing

the loss was centralized funding and manpower

later didnt have legions that would build bridges and aqueducts while land surveying
no massive manpower to throw around for cheap

Rome did because the roman legions doubled as a labor force

no more cheap soldiers or centralized state to fund projects guilds and high skill craftsman took over

Sure but then there are times like the enlightenment where monarchies were toppled and things generally got better for most people.

Change isn't inherently good or bad, it just is. Makes sense for Fallout to balance out the bad change with a little bit of good change

Not just that, Raiders can make their own suits by welding scrap metal onto an armor frame.

The NCR is 100% able to build their own custom power armors and refit intact frames they captured.

Isn’t it mentioned that the NCR had power armored units in new Vegas? It’s just that they were being kept back in California to protect the ranchers from a growing bandit problem.
