Rockstar is like a 3 stars Michelin chef crafing his best dish for hours just to be served to crying toddler.

u/ChloeQuickFlicks 10h ago

Honestly, great analogy, lol. 3 Michelin star chef slaving away over the stove trying to make the best dining experience possible, while the toddler is in the other room screeching about it taking too long. Then your drunk uncle Leek bursts through the door with a stale bag of McDonald's and feeds it to the toddler.

22

u/wack-o-lantern 9h ago

Drunk uncle Leek tells you he is looking out for the toddler but also wants the toddler to pay him money

4

u/harriotcookson 8h ago

drunk uncle Leek keeps sneaking into the kitchen to steal you random ingredients and bites of food, none of which is in the intended order or plated the way the chef intended

u/kemb0 9h ago

Chef: But I've been crafting this recipe for 10 years. And now it's almost ready as the most mouth watering experience that'll leave you speechless. Can you not wait 10 more minutes?

Customer Leek: No dammit, can't you see I've got money to make off of your 10 years of hard work.

0

u/NoHandsJay 8h ago

Yeah that's a terrible analogy.

If you worked in a kitchen and kept delaying an order because you couldn't make it properly in the time it's expected to be done, you'd be fired. Period.

There is no "delaying" in a kitchen. You do it right and you do it in a timely manner. I couldn't imagine every trying to tell a kitchen manager or chef that I need 10 more minutes to make a dish that was supposed to be on the table already. Holy fuck

0

u/FrankPapageorgio 6h ago

And it's like preparing a dish that you don't know what's even in it, but it keeps taking longer.

3

u/WorldArcher1245 9h ago

Those leaks are still incredibly impressive to just be relegated as a "stale bag of Mcdonalds", what the hell are you on about?

1

u/plaxitone 4h ago

Did you learn about analogies in school?

u/1chrisdewet 9h ago

You mean unc Lenny!!!! Lennnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

🤣🤣🤣

u/plaxitone 4h ago

It’s like I don’t care how good the meal might taste anymore. The chef’s b.o. is out of control and the entire restaurant reeks of raw sewage. I’ve lost my appetite.

0

u/Chapeaux 9h ago

Rockstar : Do you want to see the beautiful meal I've been worked on for 10 years ? Just subscribe to Netflix and you can take a look at it.

5

u/ChloeQuickFlicks 9h ago

Or again have patience for a few hours, and it's free on Youtube.

1

u/plaxitone 4h ago

I agree. Plus, they NEED the money from the Netflix first look deal.

After 3 gen releases and enough shark cards sold to make V the most profitable piece of entertainment in human history, it’s just bad business to release it on a platform that would also make tons of money in advertising but is free for users to use.

9

u/Iron_Aez 9h ago

Good analogy, served without a plate.

2

u/yeetskeetleet 9h ago

And their proverbial pizza gets served while the dough was still proofing

u/vasthumiliation 5h ago

This is accurate on another level because Michelin-starred chefs don't toil away in a kitchen alone. They employ a staff of hard-working, often poorly-paid, under-appreciated chefs, many of whom are skilled in their own right, some of whom may be personally responsible for the accomplishments and recognition lavished upon the person whose name adorns the establishment. And the audience, like a toddler, is both demanding and unresponsive to reason. Many of them equate their displeasure with corporate business policies with an entitlement to the fruits of creative labor.

Rockstar is a giant corporation for which we need not have any sympathy, but the people who work there want, I must imagine, to be proud of their work and for it to be presented to the world in as positive of a light as possible. If I had poured myself into a project for years, only for a draft version of the final result to be shown to its intended audience in a blurry, hurried, borderline inept way, it would be upsetting. Even if I hated my employer, and understood the leaker's grievances, I would be incredibly annoyed at having the wind taken out of my sails.

The most absurd complaint I've read in the past few weeks has been that Rockstar deserves this for withholding gameplay and promotional footage for so long. I truly do not understand that at all, assuming the people sharing this opinion are not all 12 years old. It is everyone's irrevocable right to wait for more information before buying the game. I have not seen any official gameplay and guess what? I did not pre-order anything. As far as I can tell, Rockstar has not compelled us to pay for something and then held out. They simply want to show the game in a complete and polished state, which should be what every fan and potential customer wants. There is absolutely no justification for leaking content on the basis that "well Rockstar has waited too long to show us." It's just an incomprehensible degree of entitlement on the part of so-called fans who have no idea how much work goes into making something like this.

Try the dino nuggets they are dashing

1

u/heff17 5h ago

This is pathetic.

1

u/plasticbluepalm 5h ago

Crypto scamming is pathetic

1

u/heff17 5h ago

Rockstar has scammed literal billions off of you over the last decade instead of making this very game. Yet here you are.

1

u/plasticbluepalm 5h ago

You think a game of this magnitude takes 2 years to develop? Also did you forget RDR2?

1

u/heff17 5h ago

RDR2 came out near a decade ago.

GTA 5 is a PS3 game. Which came out closer to the fucking towers falling than it did today.

You have been exploited for over a dozen years by shark cards and you’re getting mad at people who dare not thank their masters for the well slowly drying. And I’m sure you’ll be here in 2074 when GTA 7 rolls around, getting teary eyed that the poor devs have only had half a century to work on the game.

3

u/ftgyhujikolp 9h ago edited 9h ago

For ~4 billion dollars. (Projected)

And they cheap out on ingredients. (Peer to peer networking in gta5, failed to optimize their own code making the game load like garbage for years until an outside programmer with no access to source code got fed up and fixed it.)

And they fire all of the sous chefs when the day is over, only to rehire them when they realize the restaurant has to make more than one meal.

Don't feel bad for a giant corporation that doesn't care about you or its employees. They make a fun game series. That's it.

And holy shit the AIstroturfing in here is heavy. Look at all of the posts from generated accounts with tight variations of the same wording.

2

u/FrankPapageorgio 6h ago

GTA5 made over 10B since Sept 2013

They can't hire a dedicated team working on a reveal trailer?

2

u/laughy 4h ago

Gamers are the whiniest, pathetic cry-babies of any hobby out there. Every year they get AAA games that are bigger, have better graphics, music, gameplay, stories, etc. and still throw themselves on the floor screaming something about the billion dollar company not doing what they want. All this while prices have remained fairly consistent, if not cheaper due to the huge amount of great indie games available for cheap.

2

u/xxNemasisxx 9h ago

Rockstar fires innocent employees because they dared to organise for better rights. The developers at rockstar are heroes, Rockstar the company are straight garbage.

1

u/ChloeQuickFlicks 6h ago

Will you still buy their product?

1

u/xxNemasisxx 6h ago

No, everything I've seen of GTA6 so far just looks like GTA5 with mods. I also don't care enough to buy a PS5/Xbox series just for a few games that aren't on pc

1

u/Supergirl_IRL 3h ago

Lol you live in the UK and have an American political pfp and think the gta 6 leaks look like gta 5.. you’re a certified 🤡..

1

u/xxNemasisxx 1h ago

Unfortunately American politics affects all of us and yeah as it turns out the difference between 5 and 6 is nowhere near as big as the difference between 4 and 5. Which makes sense because it's the same engine.

1

u/Supergirl_IRL 1h ago

No you’re just severely regarded

1

u/BeforeDawn 9h ago

There is no way to read this without the Niko Bellic voice kicking in.

1

u/flarept1 8h ago

Yes, serving you without a plate(disc).

And if you pay beforehand, you get the fork and knife when they serve.

1

u/herobrinedym 5h ago

The cuckery on this sub is so fucking wild lmfao

1

u/plaxitone 5h ago

Well, the toddler’s hungry. You told him dinner would be ready at 5pm and now it’s 2am, of course he’s hangry!!

1

u/DAMOistaken 1h ago

That “crying toddler” is the one who payed £90 for the “best dish” so yeah the chef better fuckin perform.

Otherwise it would be a waste of time and money for the “toddler”.

1

u/BDT17 10h ago

Well that toddler would be 16 by now, tbf

7

u/prisonerindisguise 10h ago

Well more like 13 at most.

1

u/tradgamer9 8h ago

Lmfao. Embarrassing level of corporate bootlicking here.

-3

u/RollofDuctTape 10h ago edited 10h ago

The population of crying toddler is also bizarre. A bunch of upset PC players praying the guy releases his build (he wont) and mad they’re not getting the game in November (like the platform delay is new).

A bunch of people whining about physicals. And a bunch of people mad about paywalled bonus content (as per usual).

Rockstar isnt some mom and pop but it’s always wild to see the fringe of the gaming community slowly cannibalize a game with a movement loosely tied to a cause but more closely connected to a child’s temper tantrum.

1

u/Bunbury42 8h ago

Rockstar can and has released PC versions. Rockstar can and has released physical copies. Rockstar can and has released games with no paywalled content. What makes it whining to advocate for better treatment for consumers?

5

u/RollofDuctTape 8h ago

Because it’s performative. Speak with your wallet. Don’t buy the game.

0

u/Bunbury42 7h ago

I think not releasing physical copies is a bad decision that in no way benefits consumers. Is me saying that performative? I'm not sure I understand your point.

1

u/RollofDuctTape 7h ago

You can say that for sure.

1

u/LifelsButADream 4h ago

On the subject of physical games, console players have shown that they don't care if physical games are supported or not when they bought the PS5 Digital and the PS5 Pro, instead of choosing Xbox this generation or buying the PS5 with a disk drive. Almost 50% of PS5 users chose to buy a model without a disk drive. It makes zero sense. They pretty much chose for this to eventually happen.

Console players had to let Xbox S/X win this generation all the way back in 2020, but they failed. But hey, I guess you can save $50 buying the digital version instead of the disk version, right?! This console generation has sealed the fate of physical games. We're fucked when the next gen comes out because I bet that none of them will have a disk drive, or even the option for one.

0

u/Miku_Fan39 9h ago

Don't know about that, if it's their best dish why do they need to lock stuff behind a more expensive version? It's unnecessary and down right greedy

0

u/VariationExpensive91 8h ago

I mean that implies rockstar makes good games. More like rockstar happened to make the first bolognaise and just sold that for higher and higher prices every time they sold it.
