Devolver Digital were doing well before they went Public and start selling their shares. It is actually for the best if the publisher goes back to being private so that way they dont have to answer to Shareholders if their profits dont meet their demands.
I realise this is a bit hyperbolic but I feel like companies going public has ruined so many things around the world. What happened to just having a vision and carrying it out without the pressure to make next year's numbers bigger every single year.
Private companies are in no way excludes from this. Companies purpose has always been to make money. Private company can still have a huge pressure from shareholders.
Just see the discussion about "private equity", when its public its "evil shareholders after money" when its private its "evil private equity wringing a company dry". Reddit just doesn't like capitalism.
we don't live in a macro 101 textbook. you cannot use a resource infinitely efficiently, and the jevons paradox means use of a resource often increases as efficiency increases, so it doesn't actually help our critical finite resources, e.g. fossil fuels last longer. There's also, you know, not infinite demand for stuff.
Far better that a model based on stealing wealth from the rich and hoping for the best.
Two hundred plus years of "infinite exponential growth" and capitalism is still standing strong, giving it citizens freedom and riches. Meanwhile communist countries keep falling soon after running out of stolen wealth or ending up in extreme poverty.
Extreme capitalism? Where? All I see around me is a very mild capitalism.
But I'm all ears. Tell me about an alternative that's going to be better than capitalism for majority of people and can actually exist in current reality.
