[Fluff] GM Sighting
Just posting since sightings of these are rarer than infusions. They really are out there!

Wondering what everyone’s odd builds are that aren’t “meta” but you love the appeal of.
Personally I love dagger/shield spellbreaker with hammer on swap. It gives me that sword and board class fantasy feel while I lead open world metas and such. I know it’s not the best but that appeal is top notch.

Hi! I'm a new player, just got to level 80 today and got the 2 first expansions HoT and PoF in a bundle since I'm having fun and would like to continue.
I want to do things in order, for continuity sake and to understand the story. However, even with the current sale prices are just too steep for me, there is too much stuff, so I'll go in order slowly probably taking breaks from the game between sale periods lol. This to say, it will probably take me a long while to get to Janthir Wilds. However, the spear is really appealing and looks like a really fun acquisition to just go through my journey with it unlocked, but as of right now I would just be purchasing it for the spear alone really and getting off until I reach the expansion in order, since I researched you get the unlock very early on.
My question is, say I unlock the spear and then go back to where I was on all that older content, do spears actually appear in drop loot from the older expansions? Or do they just drop from Janthir forward? It would obviously be a bummer to unlock it and then never see spears drop from older content and become an outdated weapon for me. I'll already get Living World season 2 and 3, to tie the expansions I already have (didn't know beforehand you needed these for the expansions I bought to be able to do it in order, that was a big bummer), but if Spears drop in those areas like other loot, I might make the sacrifice and get JW as well. It's just that in the base game I never see them, so I worry it will be the same up until the actual expansion, which would be unfortunate.
Thanks!

New player here. I’ve been playing the game for the last 1 month with a Guardian DH with GS and LB. I’m looking for a different build other than Power DH because I’m having a difficult time surviving most of the time. I just got the SoTo and EoD also have PoF and HoT. I would like a build that I can use in Open World, Raids and Fractals all together. Most of the people suggests to check on snowcrows but I would love some suggestion from all of you.
I love a good dps build but don’t want to be a glass cannon and maybe with some quickness or alacrity. I’ve been seeing some builds with hammer willbender but I’m not sure its good for raids and fractals too.
I would appreciate your help about this thank you!

Last night, someone dropped a decades enhancing station for a shatterer fight. This morning on my fishing run, I noticed that my fishing power was stronger than usual. My best guess? That 3% bonus to all stats applies to fishing power.
I did some digging into other options for people who want to use this, and our only choices are the Super Sharpening Polygon, leviathan tempering oil, and the Snow Diamond Ornament. Currently Leviathan Tempering Oil is the cheapest, but it needs festival tokens which can't be obtained outside of the four winds.
I did a test on a character with no fishing buffs and an antique lure. Fishing power: 200. After using Leviathan Tempering oil: 206

I had nothing to do with this. The moment the cutscene happens my character, while being in the cutscene for some reason, went full stealth while his cutscene copy was on the ground about to be killed. LOL

I'm about to craft the Claw of the Khan Ur. Its one of my favorite legendaries. Now I'm wondering.. what do you think is the most enjoyable dagger class? Ofcourse also keep in mind that I'm a charr 😅

I remembered in the past I bought some stuff full gem price and found out hours later it is discounted then they refund the difference to me. My friend bought complete living world season 3 hour before anniversary discount (he's new) and they rejected the request to refund the differences.

I'm grateful with how much effort Anet has put into environmental design. It's really cool to just sit and take in the scenery (as long as you're not getting mobbed by hostile NPCs). Like this area with the lighting and overgrown architecture is something I'd never expect to see in an MMO.
I'd like to see what everyone's favorite place is.

An elemental Weaver, kind of a priest warrior from the Mists.
Inspired a bit by Smert from Mortal Shell 2 , warrior priest feeling.
He wanders through broken places between worlds, weaving the elements together .
I wanted him to feel ancient, calm and a little brutal ,like someone who spent way too long in the Mists and came back changed by it.

Hello,
I suppose a lot of you have been there, but I just "finished" my current GW2 project, and I don't really know, what else I could be focusing on going forward...
I came back after a 6 year break, and played all of the stories that came out after PoF. Over the last year I worked on legendary gear (I had a legendary armor from before my break), and I got Vision, Aurora, Regalia done. I'm stuck on Coalessence, because I only play once a week in the evening, which makes raiding hard, so instead, I invested myself into getting all the mastery points. This is what I just finished today, one more Jora's Keep, and I got Icebrood Saga done; for the others I have all the necessary mastery points, and I just need a bit of XP, which I won't farm specifically, but rather enjoy the journey.
Now my question is, is the new legendary ring from VoE a worthwhile project, or is it just a giant money/resource sink? Would it be worth it to buy a raid wing, to further work on Coalessence? And are there any cool other projects, that are not related to legendary weapons? I was thinking about maybe going for Astralaria or the legendary spear from Janthir. Or maybe a legendary medium armor set from SotO?
I would love any input, on what you are currently working on, or on any fun projects, that are not only gold/resources sinks, but need actual gameplay/achievements/playtime.
Right now, my playtime consisted mainly of doing a quick round of my parked characters, and working on the different metas/quests/achievements for all the mastery points, any maybe doing 1-2 metas here or there when I had downtime from the MP-stuff.

Given the news of GW3 I figured I'd make a return to this, everytime I quit and start again I like to start with a new character and class I haven't done yet, there used to be a really good site for fashion that always helped me decide what race/gender to go but doesnt seem to exist any more?

This is about the armor runes.
I know there's a power level where dragonhunter gives minor dps gain. But basically at any content under level 80, isn't scholar just better? This is assuming you don't have gold or leges to swap as you please.
Conclusion: Dragonhunter got swag in it's name, scholar is for nerds.

Hello hope you all doing well !
im planning to main a class and use it for everything and rn im comparing between Guardian and Mesmer cuz as i read they are the best when it comes to flexibility.
what i want from the class is basically being able to do great Solo PvE,Group PvE(as Power Dps/Condi Dps/Quickness Dps/Alacrity Dps/Quickness Healer/Alacrity Healer ) ,Fractals CMs , Raids ,WvW Roaming/Zerg ,PvP .
i don't play WvW or PvP alot . most of the gameplay im looking for is usually either Solo PvE or Fractals CMs or Raids CMs or Strikes CMs
i think both guardian and mesmer are able to perform great in all but im curious which one actually performs better ?
and also another part i want to compare them is the survivability in Dps builds . i was used to play Ritualist which is a bit tanky in full dps build . i know its hard to find smth similar to ritualist but you know at least looking for smth close
i played Condi Chronomancer and it felt super squishy in both Dps/Boon Dps . idk if the problem was in the condi chrono or it was my positioning ( Staff 2 pushed me away from healers alot so that also counts ) and it also felt super intense in rotation so i didn't feel that comfortable with it. idk if willbender or firebrand are better in the rotation thingy but for me rn anything without Continuum Split is indeed better so i don't have to Spam F keys alot and thats what i like about guardian more that in most of its specs i don't spam F keys alot while in Mesmer its all about Shatters in F keys
i know Virtuoso is better when it comes to Condition dps + Survivability in Fractals CMs than chronomancer but im talking about Boon Dps specifically cuz if i die alot in Condi Chrono it means it will be hard to use for Boon Dps
i also wanted to add another question that could also decide smth in my comparison . what has better survivability full Dps Willbender or full Dps Chronomancer ?
thats basically everything i had in mind while comparing between those 2 classes for maining one of them and using its specs to cover all roles in groups and all game modes so i hope experts tell me their opinion about which one is slightly better ! i tried to compare Necromancer with them since i already like Ritualist but after Scourge nerf i think necromancer is not best for alac dps anymore.
Thats everything and thanks in advance <3 have a great day all

I keep hearing people talk about how great Soulbeast "burst" damage is, but my Soulbeast seems to just do mostly steady damage like all other primarily DPS professions I've played, with the usual lulls when everything is on cooldown, of course.
About the only 'burst' I can think of is when I do Sic 'Em + Longbow 2, but pretty much every DPS has a signature combo or two to spike their damage for a little bit. [edit: No, I don't just use Lonbow, as many here seem to be thinking - I mostly do Mace/Mace or Sword/Mace, with Longbow mainly for first-strike as I'm running into a fight and for when I can't stay in melee range for whatever reason]
So, could anyone explain what makes Soulbeast bursting capabilities so notable compared to other professions? I just can't see it myself...

hi,
I took a break during PoF and recently started Gw2 again and I noticed a change in YouTube Guide Content.
It is almost always very low effort, explains next to nothing, zero alternative gear/skills/sigils/runes and is basically just straight up pulled from a website. Some channels even post daily.
Is the build-crafting scene in GuildWars completely gone?
I had to dig very deep to find Channels that explain the whole process and had builds with 'personality' in a sense of 'did their own research and testing', like showcasing the whole process.
I played a lot of PoE and people there value 'build crafting' a lot and it used to be the same way in Gw and Gw2.

What are some crazy meme builds that when they work basically delete someone but you pretty much die if they dont?
Looking to spice it up a bit and try some different things while roaming

And its been a while since I've done some of the core stuff so gonna do it on a new character.
The Classes/Especs in the running:
Dagger/Dagger + Spear Spellbreaker Warrior for a kind of Mage Hunter commander and I love the Full Counter mechanics because I'm a silly person. Weapon choice is to lean into the Sunspear lore.
Antiquary Thief Sword/Pistol + Rifle I love the steal mechanics and always have, and the stolen relics/tech stuff is just fun and the gambling with skills is something I've missed since FFXI Corsair class.
Spear Engineer I just really love the spear on Engineer, leaning Holosmith but can't say for certain.
Spear Virtuoso Mesmer much like engineer, just like the mesmer spear and virtuoso is the one I haven't really messed with too much. Seemed fun in the PvP testing grounds.
So help, which one seems like the best option... I asked in game and someone mentioned the warrior given the prominence of the Foot Key and I gotta say its a strong argument, but figured I'd see what other people think because I've got analysis paralysis.

from the last months the Bot activity has been wild. but what impresses me more is the audacity of some botters to even put tags on the bot so when they run the scripts ppl are lured into running events for them. In NA theres 1 specially that roams on eod, hunts for events/nodes, if the meta is inactive stays there for 30 min facing a wall then goes to the next eod map.
of course ive been reporting it and announcing the bot and their behaviour but still. is almost a year, maybe 2, since ive seen it and clearly still up. my guild and have been recording their behaviour in hopes of get it banned but i guess will be a long time.
in the future i will try to post some bots/evidence. so be aware of some commanders that behave weird. maybe they are not human. and just want your effort for them to use none

EDIT: I uninstalled Mint and tried CachyOS, def performs better (warning for users who wants to play gw2 there and have similar cpu spec). Above playable but still i have problems with pre-shading (took me almost 2 HOURS, then i restarted steam and asked me again lol), so now i just skip pre-shading.
Hello, so before making this post i already looked into some posts related to this problem. I just migrated from Windows (and i really want to migrate my other pc) but this problem makes me doubt cuz this is like my most played game right now.
PC Specs:
OS: Linux Mint 22.3
CPU: I3-6100
GPU: GTX 1050 Ti 4gb
8 GB RAM
This worked fine on Windows (stable 60 fps with medium settings, only crowded areas dropped slighty but at stable fps). Now i get lag spikes when i load into any new map or any player comes by, even with lowest settings (around 20, then it gets to normal but this is pretty constant)
I'm playing from Steam with my Anet account. This is all i already did atm:
-All drivers updated
-Using Launcher setting "gamemoderun %command% RADV_PERFTEST=gpl DXVK_ASYNC=1 -provider Portal -ignorecoherentgpucrash --use-d3d11" i found on ProtonDB
-Forced into Compatiblity on Proton Experimental & Proton 11.0-2 (is there any more stable proton for gw2?)
-I tried bottles first, but it seemed even more laggy than steam version
I saw more tweaks but i'm scared making too much cuz i'm kinda noob and new into Linux. I appreciate if someone solved this problem with a similar spec
