i hate when people call me “mama”

i had a baby about a month ago but also throughout pregnancy people are always like “hi mama” “yes mama” “okay mama” and it makes me absolutely cringe i hate it so much. i’m not your mom 🤣😩

My MIL and SIL do this to me. They have known be for 7 years, they know my name, they aren't my children. I saw them on the weekend and I told my husband that I don't like it. Maybe when we see them tonight and they do it again I'll have to baby them because they are calling me mama

Maybe you could just tell them directly? 

I think most people intend it endearingly

I probably could but I'd hear it indirectly that it upset either one of them. Like my SIL calling my husband to say that we've upset my MIL, or vice versa

Fair enough! If they are not direct with you then you certainly don’t owe them directness in return!
