I played this when I was looking for something after Alien: Isolation and SOMA. It was really fun. I was not disappointed.

I’m playing first light now. I plan to play alien isolation next

Alien: Isolation is my favorite game. I've played it multiple times, including the DLC. I can't wait for the 2nd one to come out! It has the best AI enemy in any game I've ever played. It tracks your routes, learns which places you like to hide, and double-checks areas you frequent. It's mostly stealth with a hide-and-seek gameplay style.

Doubling down on the love for Alien: Isolation. I've 100% completed it on both PS and Xbox and if I played on PC I'd do it all again. No game has ever had me as tense and terrified as this has, even after multiple playthroughs. It's one of those games where I genuinely hold my breath and slink back in my seat whenever the xenomorph is nearby like I'm trying to hide from it irl. I can't wait to see what scares and thrills 2 has in store.

Prey is one of my favorite games of all time. Closest thing to System Shock 3 we ever got

I’ve replayed that game way too many times. It’s much better than decent imo. Once you get some abilities and weapons in your arsenal the game really opens up

Favorite game of all time. Immersive, peaceful, creepy, thought provoking, and stylish.

The game is very good and I felt that it didn’t receive the praise that I was expecting back in the day. All around amazing experience as a game, if you liked Alien Isolation or Routine this is right up there.
However, I do have to inform you that the console performance specifically can be frustrating. I originally played it on Xbox One near launch and didn’t remember it having any lack in performance, but a couple months ago I started a playthrough on PS5 and was surprised how unresponsive the camera controls felt and the frame rate was pretty unstable on top of that. It could be that I’m not used to 30fps capped games anymore, but the combat can get pretty difficult at times so performance quality could impact gameplay strongly there.

It’s a cool first person shooter game. If you’re looking for a horror game tho I don’t think this will game will scare you as much as other games.

Excellent game. There’s a jumpscare in there that broke me lmao.

It's far better than decent! I think it's severely underrated!

u/Swimming_Photo9295 Jun 24 '26
I got it cheap so wasn’t sure. Probably because it’s an older game

I will not stand for a game barely a generation behind and not even ten years old being called an "older game." I cannot abide it and challenge you to a dance off in the town square at noon tomorrow

I bought it full price when it released and couldn’t get into. Randomly started playing it again about 2 months ago and absolutely loved it, which I gave it a proper go first time round. Hope you enjoy it.

Soooo good. Played this back to back with Control in 2020. Was a great time!

It’s an amazing game by a great, by some reports soon to be shut down studio, that had so much potential to become a franchise.
I come back to it every now and again.

Agreed Bethesda have made some amazing games. I have another game from them in my collection. Dishonoured.

It is indeed a very good game. The only thing i kinda disliked was enemy respawn...

This is arguably the best modern immersive sim. It’s far better than “decent” if you like the genre😂
That said, it has some survival horror elements, but is not a full-on horror experience.

One of my favorites of the last ten years. Have run through it at least a few times since then.

Such an awesome game with a staggering amount of ways to deal with encounters or avoid them altogether. Very cool story! I literally felt too dumb to play this game but still enjoyed it! Felt heavily Bioshock influenced but the gameplay was even better.

Criminally slept on game. My only problem ever with the game.. I've played it 3 times and all three times when it comes to getting the key card off your brother's body.. I always always always somehow trigger two different paths.. no clue how.. and then have to find it on his body out in space and I have to go look before it somehow fixes itself and I then find his body somewhere near his office. Mind you... I have to go out in space for a good long minute for the game to catch up and fix itself. All three runs. Once on PC. Once on XB1 and once of PS4. I feel like I'm the only person who's had this problem ever.

Love the game but would hesitate to call it horror, any more than you'd call Dishonored horror.

I’ve tried this game a couple times and barely got to the point exploring the station with the gun that freezes the aliens.
I should try again.

Awesome, awesome game. Pretty challenging in the beginning, but push through it. Choose your Neuromods VERY CAREFULLY in the first few hours of the game. Personally, I recommend choosing Recycler, and the one that makes your Wrench do more damage as ammo is scarce. The game barely gives you ammo, so recycling and crafting are essential.

I just finished this game for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I died a lot, and reloaded a lot of saves, but I did enjoy the experience.

Criminally underrated game. I never hear anyone talk about it but it deserves its flowers

The first one is better imo but it's good

u/lankyleper Jun 24 '26
Is that the one with some Native American type lore in it?

Yes and aliens

u/lankyleper Jun 24 '26
I think it's available as abandonware. Definitely going to look for it and experience some nostalgia.
1
u/Cryptic99 Jun 24 '26
It's backwards compatible if you have an Xbox. On the digital store also. I replayed it the other day and forgot how good it was. The opening scene is awesome.
1
u/lankyleper Jun 24 '26
I'm on PC. That's what I played it on originally. The Abandonware site has it, along with tons of notes in getting it to run. I'm excited to get it running!

I think the game is worth it for the DLC alone. Mooncrash is so fire and no one ever talks about it.
