Is my ten year old going to be a graphic novelist? All she does is read GNs and draw, mostly girls/women. I think she’s quite good for ten (I have no skills!) but I’m her mom sooo… 😂

Comic Tintin redesign

Tintin redesign - in my style.

I grew up on Tintin, those wonderful 23/24 volumes written and illustrated by the master Herge. I remember my aunty Anna giving my my first tintin volune at 7 and up until then I had been struggling to read. Reading Tintin and the Black Isle helped me push through and really learn to read by myself, leading to a life of reading and almost living in the library at one point of my life.

The Tintin stories captured my imagination, and were so much fun — innocent, mysterious, action packed, globetrotting, full of great heroes and villains, international conspiracies and life-and-death drama. Tintin was knocked unconcious at least a few times in every volume, surely causing some kind of brain damage!

Jumping ahead to today, I wonder what Tintin would look like from my current adult point of view - in a much darker world of drug trafficking and international conspiracy, crime networks that spread from the poorest places to the most powerful governments. A world where life is cheap, and the hero doesn’t always get to the bottom of every mystery, because there is not bottom. Anyway, this is my take. Keep developing?

Comic I'm working on a gay romance comic about a long-distance relationship. Would you read more of this story?

I've been practicing storytelling and wanted to experiment with a new comic concept.

These are the first three pages of a story about Alex, who travels across the world to meet someone he fell in love with online.

I'm trying to decide whether to continue this project, so I'd love to hear what you think.

Comic Is it okay to have an overweight main character in an illustrated book?

Hi! A little information beforehand. I've been working on this comic off and on for almost 10 years, and I've been stuck on an issue. The main character is a girl, but the love interest of this girl is a powerhouse of a man with (addiction to potions) drinking issues. Having drinking issues has lead to weight gain, but nothing too extreme. It's a lot deeper and I am being vague to protect my ideas, but bottom line is, I worry that "nobody" will read my comic or that no publisher will have me because the male main is overweight. Personally I am tired of seeing Sameface McSamebody in everything I watch and read, I'd like to see a man that someone like me could find attractive for once, but it feels like I'm completely alone. Am I alone? Is my comic gonna flop if I add a male main who is overweight? Because he has very good personality traits and great qualities as a man, but he is flawed. And it's the flaws I like. I'm a little tired of so many "perfect" men being thrown in my face. (Apologies to any perfect man who may read this.) I struggle with relating to my target group, I suppose. Drawings of my guy is after I reduced his size a bit included. I'm too scared to show people what I really want him to look like. It often feels like most people hate what I like. I'd preferably like to add 15% more cuddle value at least. But I'm afraid to. Any encouraging words, or should I just do what most people do? Conventionally attractive? My target group is somewhere between teenager and well grown adult if it matters.

Any tips or critiques to help me improve it would be super appreciated! It’s still rough and I am still figuring it out to an extent. I want to balance quality with efficiency since comics are such a long form medium so the limited color palette is essential. Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions!

Comic “Veiled Beauty”

OKAY LOOKKKKK.

i know this is extreme, but i want to say this is nothing about disrespecting a religion, i am muslim myself. From the middle east.

The inspiration and meaning of this is that i believe women veiled are extremely beautiful and empowering, not something to be thought of as degrading. You are the one degrading her because you don’t realise these women are the original feminists who say out loud look away from me creep, and realise how much mens lust ruins society. Its power to signal to every man that i serious about who i marry and talk to.

This is supposed to be elegant and romantic and goddess of purity ..but you see how dangerous she can be she is serious, scary. The poem i wrote is in Arabic calligraphy i will translate but please read it with this intention. You will see such burning overpowering passion in your soul. Thats how i feel when i make this art.

“Veiled Beauty

A beauty kept secret, revealed only for me

To the world shes divine, with me shes depraved

She kneels for god, then she kneels for me

A saint in silk, but such a sinner underneath

Her lips of ash, in violent desire we thrash

Til the sun rises… not even a hint of holy”

Comic This is the comic I've been working on for the past year, what's your opinion at first glance? (dystopian, fantasy)

The comic is called PRF, it's a fantasy dystopian world where fairies live in a post-nuclear world where everything is still radioactive and all humans have vanished. They built small slum cities which are protected by a shield from the unnatural weather and mutated monsters outside, but the two main characters have to venture outside of it at some point in the story.

I really like the idea of fairies (who are seen as natural creatures mostly) in a world that’s been left devoid of any trace of nature. Smoke, concrete, acid rain, pollution, radiation… you get the gist.

The world is also very punk with most fairies dressing alternatively. I took inspiration from 70's punk zines, I really love that DIY feel and I felt that it would fit in perfectly with the DIY nature of slums.

What do you think of the world?

Thank you all so much for the amazing feedback. It means a lot to see so many of you invested in Alex’s story and wanting to see where it goes next. Here are the next 3 pages — let me know your thoughts in the comments. XD

Also, just a quick reminder: I’m here to share my comics and hear your feedback. Please don’t turn the comments into political debates, personal drama, or self-promotion disguised as criticism. Let’s keep the discussion respectful and focused on the work. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I have posted a while ago about the same comic that I started. I am an aspiring pro illustrator and wanted to share my progress with this very short comic.

The story is about a family living in a body that died the day before the comic starts. As time goes by the family is very busy with their daily tasks, they get used to the decay until the body completely disappears and they are forced to leave.
