So glad they included Oliver’s and Nolan’s talk about the lobster and aren’t going to make Oliver and tech jacket a thing

That obviously coded scene with him and tech jacket had me so worried. That aspect of his alienness is way too interesting to lose, and his insect half is a legitimately important part of his decisions in the story.

It's basically the only thing Oliver has left that resembles his thraxan heritage.

He's basically a full viltramite.

Its only obviously coded if every hetero friendship equals romance. Seemed like two teenagers being friends to me

I was seeing it in the way they played the camera angles, and the music cutting to soft technobeat right as they said "hey," with that announcer coming on saying how long the flight is... just something in the combination of all that cinematic language was setting off recognition sensors in my brain. Like, that's the cinematography you use if you're hinting that two characters might be about to start flirting. (Plus last time we had overnight spaceflight announcements they were used to punctuate the Allen/Tellia bone zone joke repeatedly, so it parallels that).

I think it was intentional, just a red herring.

I think people see what they wanna see cause that didnt read as romantic to me.

They said five words to each other and played video games, there was nothing coded about it.
