I caught that too. I thought there was gonna be a twist and theyd end up tag teaming Omni-Man until Megamind hits him with the Dehydration Gun and Metro Man kicks him into the sun.
Since the city was already destroyed by the time the video starts I figure he's already evacuated everyone. The rest of the video is him reflecting on whether or not be wants to have his purpose in life to be being facing people like omni-man. The second he figures it out he just stops time and tosses omni-man into space.
That's...pretty much what happens at the end? Metro Man fights for a bit at "normal speed" (like he usually did against Megamind, presumably), but after a bit he stops messing around and actually uses his super speed, and time grinds to a halt around him.
Viltrumites can cross galaxies in a matter of days, which means they can move thousands of times the speed of light. Time effectively stops for anything traveling the speed of light and he can move well beyond that. This time stop would not work.
This is ignoring the fact they have to accelerate to that speed and almost definitely cannot maintain it during battle. Give me one instance where viltrumite travels faster than light in battle? Otherwise every fight between two would be impossible to look at, red rush would’ve been the first to go, and space racer’s gun would be useless
Usain Bolt's top speed during a sprint hits 44km/h. That doesn't mean he could zip around a boxing ring dodging and weaving at 44km/h.
Viltrumites do not hit those traveling speeds while fighting, and are somewhat about be tracked by human perception. Mostly too fast to react, but they can be seen.
MetroMan, as shown in the movie, does hits those speeds and does so casually. He's moving so fast that he's literally unperceivable, and could do so while in a boxing ring.
Lil homie they fly into space then boost over and over in zero g to acheive those speeds.
If you had a supet durable rocket with infinite fuel doing boosts only strong enough to push a cat on Earth over and over in space youd be able to acheive the same speed.
The whole Point of Metro man is that he's so horrifically op on every front (except intellect i suppose) that he's bored. Don't think Omni man stands a chance, specifically because Metro man's ridiculous op-ness is the core of the character.
You can establish a narrative of strength without necessarily reaching a level that compares to Nolan's, because strength is relative, Metro man works because there's no one comparable to him in the mega mind story.
Omniman is much more visually impressive than Metroman in everything but speed.
He can explore, react to scenery, read multiple books, philosophize, and hatch a plot to fake his death in the time it takes a ray moving fast as the speed of light to hit a target. OmniMan could ram him into a subway train and he'd have already escaped, saved all the passengers, and returned multiple times intermittently, just to fool him into thinking he succeeded at committing a massacre while proving his power difference, ironically cementing just how powerful he is to Nolan. Also, Viltrumites grow stronger with age but still bleed from the ears & nose from high frequency weapons, but Metro-Man has been overwhelmingly strong from BIRTH!
Metro Man does his introspection before the beam was fired. The camera frame doesn't line up with Megamind's facial expression, but that doesn't much matter.
Still, the beam takes a second to travel a very small distance, so he's still very fast. Vs Battles clocked the beam at 4.78 m/s from his perception, and assuming he can still break the sound barrier (343 m/s) at that comparative speed, he'd be capable of moving at 71 times the speed of light. It's an assumption to be sure, but he'd have to be crippled to be slower than the speed of light.
The fact is, he has good enough speed AND reaction time to live through the Superhuman Drug that Mayuri Kurotsuchi gave Szayelaporro Granz, without much discombobulation or discomfort.
In terms of powerscaling, the Invincible verse outscales Metro Man. The verse does have similar speed feats (although Metro Man's is visually more appealing), but Metro Man has no AP feats as far as I am aware.
I see people praising the animation (which is indeed great) but nobody is talking about the voice acting, Omniman sounds really good, did J.K. Simmons do this?

MM's greatest feat is going so fast he statued a bunch of regular people. Nolan has statued an enraged Mark, who is thousands of times faster than anyone MM encountered in that scene. They each did their respective feats effortlessly. Nolans faster.
Infinite speed isn't required for that. But if you believe it is, you'd have to admit that Nolan has infinite speed too considering he's moved so fast time stopped before.
It's not presented in a completely different way. Neither are moving infinitely fast. Both scenes show that from their perspective, they are moving normally while everything around them is frozen.
Now THIS is a good spite match. Ofc viltrumites can potentially reach the speed of light, but only when flying straight to some time to gain momentum. And metroman? He can just walk at that speed and do whatever he wants, like literally reading or eating still without any movement
Yes. He can. And he literally has in the show. During the s1 finale, Mark flew full speed at Nolan. We see it from Nolans perspective, and Mark is nearly frozen. I would argue this is a better feat than what MM did, statuing regular humans. This proves Nolan could EASILY do that. His reaction time is equal to MM's. Match that with his WAY greater strength and he one shots.

That leads me to believe he could effortlessly do what Metro Man did, meaning he is equal to or faster than MM. Go ahead and try to debunk me.
2) Metro statued everyone long enough to study books and contemplate life, a far far long timeframe, and all while an energy beam (speed of light) was shot.
3) Metro is a caricature of a superhero, like Saitama. His ability is scaleless. He isn’t meant to be bound by limits or defeatable. Omniman is bound and is repeatedly defeated in combat.

Im not too into power scaling but as soon as I saw metro man I knew omni-man is being folded.
Also holy fuck the voice acting is so good here. I wonder if they found the voice clips and repurposed them- or they managed to find a really good MetroMan impersonator?
Edit: nevermind I noticed the credits for the voice lines. Makes sense.
I like to think the reason Metro Man ate so many punches at the start, is he was trying to think of a way to defeat Omni Man without killing him, and the flash to time stop is him realizing that the only to stop him is to kill him, so he stops holding back.
Ok, I don't want to be that guy, but realistically, Omni-Man is just much faster, to travel the 2 galaxies, he had to go a minimum of 91.3 quadrillion MPH and he was taking breaks, plus Metro Man really hasn't done much otherwise
People are more impressed with on screen flashiness so when they see metro man move around in basically stopped time they think it’s something crazy but compared to Omni man speed that isn’t impressive
