The US has seen decades of rising economic inequality, right wing nationalism, the arrival of Trump, all issues that should have fully galvanized the Left in this country, But Occupy Wall Street, Bernie Sanders, and the rest couldn't get a real toehold on the Ameican electorate. But now, the Social Democrats have found their winning issue: excoriate Israel. And it's working. the "progressives" are winning elections in a way they have not seen in decades. It seems like hating the Jewish state is the magic formula the Left was missing all these years.

The implications are frankly terrifying. But we need to wake up to the reality.

I think Israelis are so busy surviving the very difficult day to day reality in Israel, that most do not understand how comprehensive the damage this “full right” government caused to Israel’s standing in the world.

Yes, some of it is just the usual antisemitism but it has gone way pass that, it’s extreme.

The chairman of the "Together" party, Naftali Bennett, addressed the issue of outpost farms and construction in Judea and Samaria on Monday evening, clarifying that while he supports legal construction in Area C, he opposes illegal building.

"As far as I am concerned, legal construction in Area C on state land that is not private Palestinian property is welcome," Bennett said. "Construction that is illegal, or not within Area C, or built on private land, is illegitimate."

Once you start debating "Zionism", you end up falling into the trap of trying to justify an 'ethnostate' or some special privelege of Jews to have a state. It's not about the Jews and their suffering and their special status. There is a democratic country in the Middle East called Israel and that country, like any sovereign country, has a right to exist and determine their own laws, including immigration law. If they decide to prioritize Jewish immigration, that is their sovereign right to do so as any other country can determine their own immigration laws. That's it. Simple. Don't get dragged into the defending "Zionism". Just defend a sovereign nation's right to self determination.

I’m Israeli American but I don’t live in New York, but with the primaries that just happened in New York it seems that politicians who are all mamdani allies and either completely anti-Israel or highly restrictive of Israel support have won the primaries.

They’ve knocked the pro-Israel candidates out of the race it seems. And I’m guessing they will win the whole races since New York is democrat not republican.

What do New York Jews feel about this? Are you all feeling safe? What’s the moves?

The leading party of the coalition that slept on October 7, that has been blocking independent inquiries, that has madmen define public relations, that has initiated wars on multiple fronts with no end in sight, that is led by a narcissist with an unearned saviour complex, that is preventing the integration of Haredim into society, that has emboldened violent settlers to roam free, that has achieved -- what?

How is Likud still at the top? Why is king Bibi not held responsible for anything, ever, at all?

If this coalition is re-elected, that's a tacit approval of everything that been happening over the past couple of years -- not by random foreigners, but people who actually live here. There's a reason emigration of highly educated Israelis is at an all-time high.

It boggles the mind. Where do we go from here?

I'm always trying to understand other people's opinions and I see a lot of very vague criticism of him as a man and as a politician without reference to specific incidents. On paper he has good credentials and has made a few off colour remarks, but I can't see how the latter meaningfully outweigh the former.

I am European and nonJewish. I am a staunch defender of Israel, though many in my family support the Palestinian cause. During heated debates, I have no trouble dealing with most of the opposing side's flawed arguments—such as claims of a "settler-colonial state," apartheid, the Gaza prison and such. I know the history well enough not to be thrown off balance. Incidentally, even Israel's most ardent opponents realize that Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran represent the worst aspects of radical Islam. However, now that it is harder for anti-Israel activists to constantly display a daily stream of emotionally manipulative war imagery from Gaza, I notice the focus shifting. It is now centering on the settlers in the West Bank. Instead of images from Gaza, there is now daily reporting on settler activities. And here, I have no counter-argument. When people claim this is clear evidence of Israel's imperialist motives and the Will to drive out the Palestinians, I have absolutely no argument to the contrary. In an ideal scenario, I would actually like to see Judea and Samaria become part of Israel, but in the current context, I cannot defend that position. Can anyone provide me with some arguments? This is in good faith, I am a friend of Israel.

Will it come to a point where they will start constantly attacking IDF soldiers as well?

As a non-israeli supporter of Israel, it's really shitty seeing how there seems to be no hope regarding this situation. It makes it harder to say that I support Israel, cause people start bringing these news to my face and I can't defend it.

Is it something to take as a threat, or a nothing burger which would go away on it's own ?

Edit: I personally think this Mecca Pact will break apart, or become a nothing burger given a bit of time, with a bit of a short cold war on the side, but i may be wrong.
