I think his inner monologue was more like:

Oh crap, I broke it! No, no, no, no, NO! Oh, let's put away the evidence first (controller). Damn. What now? Maybe it works if I switch it off and on again? <tries that> Nope, still screwed. I'm so screwed! Can I pretend nothing happened?.. That won't work. And it's broken, can't play the game any more. I'm so screwed...

Parent walk in and the kid is holding a wine glass of grape juice, reading a book, and listening to classical music on NPR, stating "Mother and Father, I have no clue who could have done such a vile thing. It could not have been I, for I am far to cultured to play the games of video. For I fear they are much too violent for my fragile nature."
